Hello All,
I applied for my son to join the modelling agency m0del (the O isn't a letter it's number zero) and he got selected. He his 5 month and 3 weeks.

I know I should of done the research beforehand however I can't find much info on the agency now and to find info is from the website only. Has anyone come across this website. I applied through Facebook.

Let me know Smile
Thanks
Nas

Hi everyone,
My wife saw ad on Facebook and she begged me to apply for this agency for my son 3years old.We applied in London offices and my mistake was not checking any reviews or anything.
We went there and took the photoshoots, pictures were very good and she asked for 250 for 5 pictures.
I said to her I am not paying more than £150 for 10 pictures because I really liked how my son looked on those pictures.
After this nothing happened, signed the virtual contract-bullshit.
It is a scam, people are getting robbed by these scumbags.
How can we stop this happening ???
I am urging everyone stay away from this people.

Same thing happened to me around Christmas time last year tried to such online about them found nothing , went to the shoot did everything myself from hair to everything for my daughter . Bloody waited for hours then was told she was successful and soon the convo went to buying pictures which was not my plan at all. They said 20 pictured for £600 that's a lot of my money for pictures stupidly paid £150 was told to print the contract at home and sign thanked god I didn't coz I found out they are scam . Called my bank cancelled all the direct debit and my cards . They never called me to ask why I never signed the contract which just proved to me more . My bank will try to get my £150 back I'm glad that's all they got today o received a letter from them saying my account is in arrears lol stupid ppl if they think they will get money from me . I'm keeping everything for evidence STAY AWAY FROM THEM! I tried to call their office and cancel they hunged up one me !

Hi,
We have just found out about this "company". We had sent pictures to a few different agencies online M0del Agency were the first to reply asking us to bring her for a test shoot at a place called i photography in Coventry. We booked in for the test shoot and everything seemed good. When we first got there everything seemed ok, there was a girl with red hair doing makeup and hair but she is definitely not a hairdresser as the friend I took with me is and was watching what she was doing so I'm assuming she is in on all of this as well. They made out the photography place in Cov is nothing to do with M0del Agency but the red haired girl sounded exactly like the girl who answered the phone to the 0208 number for the "head office" in Wandsworth.
There was an overly tanned big built man Anthony and also a blonde woman with inflated lips and a foreign accent that seemed in charge of everything. They basically said that after the shoot they send the photos over to the agency with a report and then we get a decision. We were then pulled into the room with "Anthony and Ashley", advised they had offered her a contract and she would have to have a portfolio for the agency to begin looking for work. I didn't let them con me into buying pictures as this is when it all seemed to be a bit strange, but I bet there are so many people who have paid out thinking it's going to get them modelling work. Does anybody know who I could report all of this to?

Also when we started to ask questions about things, they then got a bit brash with us. I asked if my husband could come to the Wandsworth address and pop in as he was in London anyway, we were told no and that they had now changed their minds and the application was now declined. All of the emails I have, have spelling mistakes and terrible grammar, as if someone with broken English has written them which makes me think the inflated lips blonde lady in Coventry is behind the emails. I haven't lost any money through this but I really cannot believe they can get away with it. So would love some ideas on how and who to report them to please:)

Woods28 · 27/01/2016 22:46

Report the to Action Fraud, they have a website which you can write a report on of you can call them. I have reported them to action fraud, trading standards and my bank is currently in the process of getting my £500 I stupidly spent on pictures that can not be used.

I am so glad that i found this post and all the helpful information you guys have supplied. I was booked to take my kids to Studio 94 in Brum this Sunday. Having read all the info in this thread...we obviously wont be going. Very disappointed kids, but i'm so glad that we have found this out before Sunday. Thank you for your posts. x

ReaFP123 · 31/01/2016 19:41

We were meant to attend a test shoot today in Birmingham at Studio 94, was actually on the way but something just didn't feel right - A dodgy sounding booking agent, followed by 2 reminder emails and a text all within 48 hours, it just seemed desperate! After pulling over to take 5 minutes to find the phone number to cancel, I came across all of these reviews - Everything is for a reason! I really do hope these people are stopped in their tracks very quickly as they are just preying on innocent parents and their kids which is just awful. I hope the Facebook page ' M0dels agency uk' is fake & illegal together with all our reviews will help more people to see the light before it's too late!

PinkC123 · 31/01/2016 20:08

Good for you @RealFP123!! More people need to be suspicious of this agency. If the site stops 1 family from parting from their hard earned cash then it's worth it.

1AMMONROE · 03/02/2016 10:19

Hi everyone,

They are a scamming agency i contacted the photography studio and i asked if they were the "New York City Studios" they replied back with yes....i hanged up the moment they responded, you don't need to pay for a portfolio to become a model the agency will take out the money for your portfolio when you get your first assignment thank god i haven't booked for the test shoot...!!

wheeze65 · 04/02/2016 03:40

My daughter went to Studio 44 in Manchester for a "test shoot" yesterday and paid £750 for the pictures after being told she wowed them. How can we get her money back?

wheeze65 · 04/02/2016 06:43

Further to my previous message, my daughter has shown me the document she signed, which states "I understand that once I leave the premises, I cannot cancel, return or reduce the order." How binding is this document?

feelou · 04/02/2016 11:35

Im meant to be taking my daughter this Saturday for photo shoot but after reading this don't think im going to bother, thanks for the warnings.

Jojo6287 · 05/02/2016 11:39

Hi
I also signed and walked out with the cd of photos the same day a few weeks ago. Now obviously found out it's all fake. I have signed a contract and paid £100 for them. There was further instalments due to be made but I have cancelled my card. Today I have received this, can someone help me. Would I need to make the payments which I signed for?

Take it to the Citizens advice, see what your bank say, drop it in to the police too and talk to them.

PinkC123 · 05/02/2016 17:27

Or even take it to a solicitor and get legal advice!!

StevieLNash17 · 05/02/2016 17:39

I too have become a victim of them. My fiancé signed him up thinking he could go far, he got accepted after the test shoot...got convinced to sign a contract was forced into it to be honest (£380). Was only meant to have 12 photos but they sent all of them and we still haven't received the dvd, three months later!! I've sent them numerous emails and heard nothing.

Now I've read this I'm fuming and angry that they have expoilted my baby. However, the website looks all legit and so do the jobs. I want my money back!!!

wheeze65 · 05/02/2016 19:31

I emailed Clive Hirst, he's got a lot of good information, definitely email him.

CliveHurst · 05/02/2016 22:55

See my website www.anactor.net

Will try and help!

Hi All,
I have just come back from Bristol after my 'free' test shoot with teenage my son. As soon as I arrived I knew there was something not quite right. The place looked dingy and on entering the premisses I was overwhelmed by the stench of stale cigarettes -I turned to leave however the switch to release the door wasn't working -another scam to make you stay! I walked up the stairs and was shocked to see how many people were there, there were no seats available so we were rushed up stairs for hair and makeup - what they meant was a quick brush through your hair and flick of powder on your face, literally finished in 5min flat. The photo shoot didn't take long and after the shoot and a long wait they showed us to the room of doom. I clocked the payment card machine on the table and knew what was coming. The lady congratulated my son on being successful and proceeded to through the photos, she said 'let me know which ones you want to keep for your portfolio' - after we went through the photos stating which ones we liked she told me the prices - £250 for 21 photos.
I have read this whole thread the prices are not at all consistent, they must charge whatever they feel at the time. I expressed my confusion that I was under the impression that the shoot was free and the email stated that the photos may not even be available to purchase (yet she automatically assumed without question that we was going to purchase them), I then proceeded to tell her that I planned to employ my own photographer and makeup artist for a portfolio - She told me that I would need to get this sorted within 2 weeks if the agency would accept me and they sometimes would not accept portfolios from other sources; this was contrary to what she said earlier when she mentioned that some models have their own portfolios before they attend the shoot! She also told me that she would retain my photos for 4 weeks in case I changed my mind - in case you are wondering the one day discount offer still stood. The more questions I asked the more flustered she became. My teenage son incidentally felt really dejected - how they could do this to innocent and impressionable young people is disgraceful! I hope they are reported to Rogue Traders!
As I sit here now I really feel for those people who parted with their cash on a whim, I seen about three people go into a different room which I assume is where the money, CD and dodgy contract was exchanged.

Thank you for posting this - it reaffirms what I was thinking, but it always good to know. I am still down 180 quid which is for the new clothes and petrol plus I used an annual leave to go.

I hope no one else falls into this trap

Have you seen this on M0del's website..??

Sorry Clive! Blush

Sorry Clive! Blush

I phoned the (only) contact number for M0del Agency and was instructed by the "booking agent" who answered the phone to email [email protected]. I have sent the following email:

If you are a real modelling agency, you will be happy to provide me with the name and address of your solicitors who are in contact with Mumsnet regarding the allegations made on their website. You will also be happy to provide me with the names and addresses of companies that have hired the models on your books. It should also be easy for you to explain why you are registered with EUMA, an association that also does not appear to exist other than as a website.

  1. If you are a real agency with all these different branches, why do you only have one contact phone number?
  1. Why are there no details of your head office in the Terms of Use on your website?
  1. Why is your domain name registered in the same name as the person who registered the domain name for Adora Models, Blackberry Models, Limitless Photography, NYC Studios AND the EUMA website?
  1. Why when googling EUMA is there no other reference to this association other than their own website and on your website? They don't appear to have any other modelling agency registered with them.

I eagerly await your response.

I'll keep you posted of what (if any) response I get.

In 2003 the government (BIS Employment Agency Standards (EAS)) stated in their press release - thirteen years ago. That you, the public, would have greater confidence in employment agencies. And... that up-front fees had been banned? Anyone who has been taken in by this group of tricksters, should make a complaint to the EAS. Don't get angry. Get even!

In 2014 NYC Studios made over £378,000, for that year! Your money...

Click on this link to make a complaint:

www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/421018/bis-15-256_pay_and_work_rights_complaint_form.docx

Then click on open - or download, but try open first... After completion save a copy to your computer/tablet. Where it mentions an 'employer', it also means an 'agency' - as well. The important thing is to write down everything, especially what was promised and the events as they happened. If you have any problems on what you need to do to complete it, then let me know and I will help you...

The original should be e-mailed - together with any evidence, receipts/ e-mails (take a photo of any documentation you have) and attach to the email. Then send the e-mail to the relevant government department, which is: [email protected] (copy and paste) Some of the questions might not relate to your particular type of complaint - just ignore them.

You might want to mention that had you not seen my posting, you would have had no idea who to complain to... You may want to copy me in to your complaint also.

You might want to ask the government why they are still letting these tricksters - take your money!

Please, please... spread the word to all your friends, Facebook, Twitter, etc... It is the only way to get something done! It is called PEOPLE POWER...

See my website www.anactor.net I have done over 60 broadcasts on either radio or TV on this issue, but never on mainstream news. Why is this?
