What would Babynet or Toddlersnet say, if they did exist?

Being run ragged by my 18 month DS today, I thought about what advice Babynet or Toddlersnet, if they did exist, might give.

  • Your parents don't give you the food you want? Try your highest pitched whine, the one your parents didn't know you had. Really lay it on. Squeeze a few tears out at the same time.

Any more?

AIBU to wake my mummy up at 4am every f*cking morning just because I don't like my bum being wet?

I'm not hungry, still shattered but I can't go back to sleep incase I miss something, like a new tune in my jumperoo or a piece of your discovered fluff on the floor, so I make my mummy get up at 4am and I'm a grumpy, overtired sh*te the rest of the day.
Surely it can't BU?!

My DM keeps trying to wipe my nose with tissue, but I prefer to just smush my face into hers and get the snot off that way. AIBU?

Any advice on how I handle my DM who insists on changing my nappy when I'm quite clearly busy? I've tried screaming bloody murder and squirming and trying to roll away but she just doesn't get it.

JuniperTisane · 23/02/2015 13:50

Raaaaagggggeeeeee!!! Teeeaaaaarrrrssss! My mother is so cruel, she's put me in my cot for a nap and I'm Not Tired At All!!! Sad I am going to throw every toy out and rattle the sides very loudly and sing Incy Wincy Spider at the top of my voice - That'll larn her!!!!!

I'm wide awaaaaaa.....................

squizita · 23/02/2015 13:51

AIBU to assume that as DM purchased me a wipe clean bouncy chair, she has no right to moan when I shit in it?

Is this normal? The big people I live with keep rolling me onto my tummy, making me play with wooden crap when I want something bright coloured and playing bloody Mozart. Have they gone crackers?

squizita · 23/02/2015 13:53

I came downstairs this morning and my darling teddy bear stank of persil non bio and looked really ... clean.
What's he up to?
Should I LTB?

I have my eye on a cute little knitted froggy. Would it be wrong to throw teddy out the pram for him?

Highlove · 23/02/2015 14:01

Also she makes me get dressed. Like, EVERY day. Even when I'm in the middle of important stuff. It's like she's doesn't get that the remote control won't put itself in my toybox.

Trooperslane · 23/02/2015 14:23

Why oh why oh WHY - ISBSU to be cross that I've hidden my shoes AGAIN?

geekymommy · 23/02/2015 14:29

DM made me wear PANTS this morning! She said I had to because it's cold. It's not THAT cold today, only supposed to get to -22 C. Is that not the most unreasonable thing you've ever heard of?

Parents giving you food you don't want to eat? Clearly it's not enough to leave the food on the plate. Throw it on the floor, or get upset until the yucky food is removed from your plate.

TheOddity · 23/02/2015 14:35

Any advice re going nc with my dad?

That really. He seems to really like me, but basically I find him an emotional drain and distraction for my DM. I only want 99% of her love, time and affection directed towards me and yet still this seems to be too much for him. Also maybe tmi but he also seems to think he has some claim on DM's boobies, which is frankly embarrassing and ridiculous.

If he wasn't around at all, I could then avoid bed times, I might be able to skip tooth brushing and I could use up that other 20% of the double bed that he is currently occupying.

I just don't see why I should put up with this hanger on any longer. Any advice to just boot him out please?

geekymommy · 23/02/2015 14:38

I can get where I want by rolling around. My DM is freaking out because I don't do something she calls "crawling". She has gotten down on the floor to demonstrate this, but I'm not interested. How can I get her to back off?

needtenancyadvice · 23/02/2015 17:15

I'm nearly 2.5 and I really want to watch Little Shop of Horrors that I found in the DVD drawer. My mother says I am too little. I have tried screaming, hitting the TV, removing all the other DVDs. She just wont budge on this! AIBU to post money into the DVD player to teach her a lesson?

CoodleMoodle · 23/02/2015 17:19

DM and DF keep trying to get me to eat things I don't want to eat. Yesterday she gave me a tiny square of toast and put it up to my mouth. Warily I opened up... AND SHE PUT IT ON MY TONGUE! I HAD TO CHEW IT!

I'm quite happy with my fruit puree (and occasional veg one - today they tried to give me one with 'meat' in but I made my feelings clear!), why do they have to make it so difficult? DM sometimes tries to puree things straight from the fridge instead of squeezing it out of a pouch, but I'm not falling for that.

I mean, I'm nearly 12 months, I think I'm old enough to make my own decisions now!

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 23/02/2015 18:09

AIBU to have fed Elsa two fistfuls of slimy avocado? Anna had the ketchupy pulped banana. Fair's fair.

geekymommy · 23/02/2015 18:26

Not enjoying my DM lately. She makes me take naps and go to bed when I swear I'm not tired. She won't let me throw things at the dinner table. She won't let me stand on the couch.

TheGirlAtTheRockShow · 23/02/2015 18:42

AINU to scream at mum every time she put me on my tummy? I am perfectly capable of rolling back onto my back, but it's easier to get her to do it. She seems to think I should move myself.

squizita · 23/02/2015 19:06

What's your stance on urine? In the nappy or a more freeform all over the nap and DM?

No! Freeform is abusive and wrong! Angry Mr Tumble told me. Do you want a mummy who stinks of wee and can't go out? Do you?

Oh here we go again with judgy pampers. ignore the teething bead clutchers OP. FWIW in my day (October! Showing my age!) we regularly peed all over the shop and it did my parents no harm. PP have a sugar free rusk Biscuit My mum never smelt of wee abd spent most of her day in Starbucks. And I pissed in there too!

Two weeks after I was born I could wee in different colours in time to classical music. We babies shouldn't limit ourselves: I got myself a well paid job as the dancing fountain in a 5* Vegas hotel. Just lean in.

TheEagle · 23/02/2015 19:12

DM thinks I've read something called "The New Contented Little Baby"

AIBU to use the book to prop up my Moses basket at night?

squizita · 23/02/2015 19:24
