saturday my dd was playing out front with the group when my neighbour in opposite house was coming back from the shop,my dd&her friend were standing in her way like kids do arms spread ect,she told my dd to move, when she didnt move she got her arm&shoved her out the way&my dd landed backwards in a bush,i have contacted the police&they have logged it as assault but now monday they still havnt come apparently they are "busy",iam fuming,i want to hit her but i know i will be arrested if i do,also what has upset me is i thought my friend&neighbour who dd plays with was my friend&to me loyalty is a big part of friendship but my friend has still carried on as normal, not stuck up for my dd&if it was me i would make it clear to the assaulter it is wrong to do that to a child(as i have said to her but got no response)also the problem i have now is my dd5 wants to go play out the front but i have tried explaining to her she cant until the police has been as the person may hurt her again as she obviouly thinks she"s got away with it as she has been sniggering&making gestures at me on the school run, what do i do iam so upset

well, that sounds fair enough

and when the police have been...can you resolve any underlying tension as you will be seeing these people for a long time yet as they are opposite you...

hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:40

what do i want from the police?i want them to talk to the woman&make it clear it is unacceptable to use physical force on a child,i have tried as said before to talk to her&if she hadnt of blanked me or even said im sorry but or im sorry ect no i wouldnt have called the police but i.m.o she has to realise she cant just do that&walk away

CreepyCrawlyCarmenere · 16/10/2006 21:41

No, I've decided that I am just going to say it. Do you seriously think that this is a good way for the police to spend their time??
The woman was wrong definitely, without question, absolutely. So you and your dd steer clear of her. That is the required reaction, not calling the police.

hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:42

ssd at last some support,im shocked to that mothers on here would expect my dd5 to apologise after what she has been thru

OP posts:
hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:43

CreepyCrawlyCarmenere isnt that what police are for to protect the public form scum that hurt kids

OP posts:
lulumama · 16/10/2006 21:43

why don't you drop a note through her door, saying you have tried to talk to her, but as no response you are writing..

and note down calmly and rationally why you are so upset and you accept DD was a bit silly, but she is a child, whereas you are an adult who should have kept their temper and not resorted to pushing a small child.

the issue with involving the police is that it is more than likely to inflame the situation...if she didn;t think it was so terrible and then the police turn up, will make it a lot lot worse IMO.

hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:44

i pity your children all of you who have said you would make them apologise&talk to the woman nicley

OP posts:
hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:45

i called the police well dh did&they have told us it is assault on a minor,it can take up to 6days for aserious assault so yes they will call misdee

OP posts:
lulumama · 16/10/2006 21:45

i think you need to keep a sense of proportion

i would describe a child batterer as scum

you are angry, no doubt about it and you are entitled to be,,but the reason the police didn;lt come racing down is because it is not a serious assault, involving broken bones or worse....

CreepyCrawlyCarmenere · 16/10/2006 21:46

I believe the police are there to protect the public from criminals. I'm sorry unless my child was hurt, which you have admitted your wasn't, I don't think I could bring myself to call the police when they should be spending their time seeing to serious matters.

ssd · 16/10/2006 21:46

I can't be;ieve you've not had support about this. agree calling police is extreme but you've tried to talk to her and she's blanking you, of course the police have lots more serious jobs to see to but your local community police should be able to give you some support, it sounds to me you just want this woman to apologise to your little girl and face the fact she can't go around pushing little kids over who get in her way. she's wouldn't have pushed a big burly man would she, it's easy to pick on kids and she's nothing but a bully(and a complete cow...).

hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:47

but to let her away scott free could/may lead to someone elses child getting worse treatment from her

OP posts:
LIZS · 16/10/2006 21:47

I was thinking that misdee. Personally I think it is hard to judge the rights and wrongs either way when you didn't actually see or hear what happened yourself. It is perfectly natural to jump to your dd's defence though and I doubt I'd be happy in the circumstances.

However your original post suggests that you were angry and confrontational when you tried to speak to her and perhaps that exasperated the situation and made her less likely to respond. If she isn't someone you normally are friendly with there seems little to be gained by pursuing it further and perhaps you are all better avoiding her in future.

hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:48

CreepyCrawlyCarmenere,do you not think she was hurt, maybe no marks but she was hurt, emotionaly too&she is scared to even go across the road

OP posts:
hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:49

i wont let it drop until the police have talked to her,i wouldnt prosecute but she needs telling

OP posts:
lulumama · 16/10/2006 21:49

'scot free'

i think she will know she is wrong...

but she won't go to prison for this...and she will get a slapped wrist, probably not a caution...

your anger is absolutely right, but the police will not do much about this...

hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:50

ifthey wont come why have i been given a crime number&told its assault

OP posts:
lulumama · 16/10/2006 21:50

x post

so when the police have told her' , if they do,,,,then you must move on....

CreepyCrawlyCarmenere · 16/10/2006 21:50

The woman is obviously a nasty piece of work, not denying that but I don't think that getting the police involved is going to work to your benefit and I don't think it is a serious enough offense to warrant calling them. Sorry. I do understand how protective you feel though.

ssd · 16/10/2006 21:50

just a (bad) thought here, do you have a dog? Then train it to poop at her door........

I am evil aren't I?

sorry but I'd need some form of revenge, subtley done if poss.............

LIZS · 16/10/2006 21:51

You get given a crime number if you report something lost, but they don't actually go and look for it - sorry.

hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:52

ssd i dont have one sadly,i will think of something lol, have to go now but will keep u informed, its too upsetting the lack of support for my dd

OP posts:
hangingbyathread · 16/10/2006 21:53

LIZS i hope your kids dont have to go thru this,i can see how supportive you would be

OP posts:
lulumama · 16/10/2006 21:53

i have reiterated several times that i think what happened is wrong, and you are rightly angry..just couldn;t get to grips with involving the police...hope you get things sorted and things are ok with your neighbours..

LIZS · 16/10/2006 21:54

Excuse me ! I don't think I've blamed your dd at all. I have a 5 year old too
