Well there had to be one...
Thought I might as well start it at Fennels suggestion.
You have all read enough from me how about you?

Just bumping this up for you, MrsD (and hope to join you here soon!)

Lesley76 · 22/04/2004 22:57

Bump

Debbiethemum · 24/04/2004 22:34

I am now joining you. Myfanwy joined us on Thursday, as a sister to Caleb, who is very proud to be a big brother.

Myfanwy, though reluctant to sleep in her crib (as if we would give her a chance) is sleeping a lot better than Caleb did so I am feeing really well and rested.

I do have MIL staying till tomorrow morning and dh off work till next Thursday so this will probably all change when I am looking after both ds & dd by myself !!

hello there,

have graduated to this thread i think...

Ella was born saturday morning and is keeping us all on our toes. DS aged 2 not really bothered by her although is playing up a bit. Debbiethemum - whats the age difference between your 2 ? have you noticed any strange behaviour from DS ?

off now for some sleep while i can !

handlemecarefully · 27/04/2004 01:27

I suspect that this will be a quiet thread for a little while 'cause its so darn difficult finding the time to post these days isn't it!

Still, great idea to start this thread Mrs Doolittle. I hope to be able to contribute to it now and then at least....

hewlettsdaughter · 27/04/2004 23:03

Hi there, anyone having difficulties establishing breastfeeding? (HMC, I've seen your thread). It's funny how all your pregnancy and birth-related worries recede into the distance once your baby is born, isn't it? I - and new dd Isobel - are well, although I am finding feeding very painful at the moment.
DS has started school this week and is trying very hard to be all grown-up and helpful.

dolbear · 28/04/2004 14:26

heelo found you am realy lucky as baby does do alot of sleep
seem to be having a right handed breast problem , it seems too big and is flushed down the right side and nt leaking as much as the left ds does not want to feed from it either and not because he is a fusy eater , trust me any ideas ?

Fennel · 28/04/2004 14:55

hi all, I have graduated at last.

and this being my 3rd am already practised at one handed typing while feeding

and I didn't even have mumsnet the other times, just used to email...

does everyone have their own breastfeeding hassles threads? am REALLY hoping not to have to post my own but total smypathy all round there - had 6 weeks of total agony with dd1, despite correct positioning and all that, luckily with dd2 my nipples were toughened and insensate, like old boots, but this time I've had a longer gap so maybe they've re-sensitised a bit - have to wait and see.

dolbear maybe some of the breastfeeding experts can advise you better but lots of people have a "better" or preferred breast. make sure both get equal time maybe, and don't always start on the same breast.

lemonice · 28/04/2004 14:58

Hello May i join this thread too although not my baby but my dd's? She doesn't have computer access and I am at work all day so it's really good for me to look on here and telephone her.

And congratulations to all of you

hewlettsdaughter · 29/04/2004 13:39

Hi lemonice, congrats on the birth of your grandson. Spotted you on the breastfeeding thread I started - how is your dd getting on?

Fennel · 29/04/2004 14:03

hi Lemonice.

I have now joined the sore bleeding nipple brigade but feel great apart from that. hope all your nipples toughen up soon! Personally I will never forgive the NCT for insisting breastfeeding shouldn't hurt if done properly (just read that debate on HD's thread).

dd2 has got chickenpox! Have dumped her at my sister's, am heartless mother, who really doesn't care as am busy being obsessed with beautiful dd3

ZolaPola · 29/04/2004 14:14

Poor you Lemon Juice! Hope it gets better - have you tried cold cabbage leaves? V unglam but lovely & soothing. Know what you mean about NCT insisting it not hurting (whoops, opening up that debate again!)

lemonice · 29/04/2004 14:56

Hd gave dd all the advice off the sore nipple thread and lansinoh. She was fretting last night espec as he was feeding quite often yesterday i think catching up from being too sleepy earlier in week. He is also a bit of a fighter pushing and punching and has long finger nails as well so she has scratched nipples too. But this morning she seems a bit happier I think she had a similar problem trying to get him off and then no better or fighting her. Good luck. And also to Fennel.

How are the others?

Metrobaby · 29/04/2004 16:56

Hi all - I've graduated to this thread too. Am suffering with sore nipples, serious lack of sleep, aching body from the labour (feel like I have run the london marathon), and painful contractions afterwards. That said I love my new ds, I'd forgotten how cuddly newborns were

Does anyone know where I can get lanisnoh cream from ?? I'm using kamillison - is that any good as an alternative?

hewlettsdaughter · 29/04/2004 17:17

I (well, dh) got my lansinoh cream from mothercare world. See also the list of stockists on the lansinoh website. It doesn't heal the soreness, but is like a moist wound dressing, which is what is recommended nowadays.
Lemonice, has your dd tried swaddling her ds? We get the flailing legs and arms too - if I put dd on a muslin cloth, then wrap each side over her arm and under her back, it helps.

lemonice · 29/04/2004 20:43

Just heard that dd has had to take baby back into hospital for jaundice After results from bloods this morning. They lost yesterdays bloods so didn't have result yesterday. Hope he can come home tomprrow and no after effects from lamp treatment.

hewlettsdaughter · 29/04/2004 21:35

Sorry to hear that about dd's ds, lemonice - they should be able to sort it though. I haven't heard of any side effects of the treatment. Fennel - what a time for your dd to get chicken pox! Hope she doesn't get it too badly!

Metrobaby · 30/04/2004 12:44

Thanks HD for the lanisinoh stockists. Will try and hunt some down today

For swaddling I have bought this for my ds and found it fantastic. DS loves it and sleeps in it for ages! One of my best purchases so far.

motherinferior · 30/04/2004 13:28

It gets better

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Fennel · 01/05/2004 13:05

I love Kamillosan, is Lansinol stronger?

Cracked nipples healed up but have been extremely and painfully engorged for 2 days (dd3 is 4 days old now). This is weird cos I wasn't engorged the other times, just leaked it out.
it just shows that even 3rd time around it can be a new experience.

Do I have different breasts this time? have just posted a rant on a breastfeeding thread about people who say it doesn't hurt....

am enjoying frozen savoy cabbage treatment though. Dd1 is amazed that cabbage appears to be coming out of my nipples along with milk! she thinks it's because I've been eating too much cabbage. I dread to think what she tells her teachers etc about me.

how's things going with everyone else?

Fennel · 01/05/2004 13:05

Lemonice how is dgs? (grandson?) is he out of hospital yet?

lemonice · 01/05/2004 13:30

Dgs spent till midnight under the photo therapy light, bit of a minx pulling his eye mask down but looks fine and dd is waiting for this mornings blood results to see if he can come home agian at lunch time. Still doesn't have a name!

LucyJones · 01/05/2004 16:41

Hi everyone - finally found you. Ds will be 4 weeks on Thursday. I'm on 3 iron tablets a day and his poo (sorry!) is really runny, and he goes at nearly every feed, often loos like he's in pain. We're trying Infacol (no luck yet) but does anyone know if this is a direct result of iron tablets? TIA

Fennel · 01/05/2004 23:09

hi Lucy

I don't know for sure but I was on iron tablets the last two times and didn't experience any runny poo so I suspect it's probably due to something else. do you mean he often looks as though he's in pain when pooing? or generally?

if the latter it could be the age for colic coming upon you...

dolbear · 02/05/2004 01:57

hello all
re breastfeeding nipples sore but no longer cracked or bleeding after a little training , due to enthusiasm as opposed to technic !!!
ds as a big baby , eats ALOT - right boob now functioning
