3yo DS and I were baking muffins on Sunday, he called flour 'pastry powder' Grin

I don't imagine that one'll stick once he knows the real word, but DH calls quiche 'egg cake', and friends of ours all call raspberry jam 'pink jam' since the kids named it years ago.

Any more?

Squirrels are 'tree cats', cream cheese is 'melty cheese' and my mum's parrot is 'talky bird'.

hennybeans · 01/10/2014 12:27

'arm ankle= wrist, arm knee= elbow' said DS when he was 4

KirjavaTheCat · 01/10/2014 12:28

Oh and marmite is 'black thing' - Can I have black thing on toast mummy? Confused

My DS used to call dinosaurs "dino-bones".

We also have flat eggs (fried eggs) and smoking sticks (cigarettes).

BlotOnTheLandscape · 01/10/2014 12:38

My then three year old asked (at full volume) when we were going home to the prison. I'd locked the house and left the cat inside and I was informed that it was now a cat prison not a house.
Needless to say we were in a public place and it was full of busybodies people with good hearing.

We relocated to the uk in january after living overseas for several years and ds (3) was very excited to tell me about grandma having a wetter and a dryer. Meaning a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Also on our recent holiday in France he referred to the bonjourers. Things in our house that are fizzy or spicy or very strong tasting are all 'busy'

FreeButtonBee · 01/10/2014 12:51

I can finally contribute to these threads! Hooray! my 19 mo DTD has had a word explosion over the past 2 weeks. She calls dinosaurs "dino-roars". I cannot tell you how cute I find this.

purplemeggie · 01/10/2014 13:12

DS called big bumpy tractor-type tyres "dum-dum tyres" (with the "u" sound from Pudding rather than Dumb), which has stuck. Spicy food is "stingy" (as in sting not stinge)

I'm adopting "orange yawn" - it's brilliant!

Newbiecrafter · 01/10/2014 13:16

if we switch the tv on without the freesat box being on we get a fuzy screen with lots of dots. My dc call that 'bizzybuzz' they giggle for ages after saying it which is really cute. I now think of any white noise type stuff as bizzybuzz.

also, bath water draining in a swirly whirlpool is a swirple.

LocalVelvet · 01/10/2014 13:29

Every time we go to Ayr, ds thinks it's Sky....

HeeHiles · 01/10/2014 13:37

My DD asks me 'un-inside out' something for her Grin

quirkychick · 01/10/2014 13:43

I love the ghost broccoli Grin.

I've remembered some more.

pink fish - salmon
look aftering - looking after

Wickeswench · 01/10/2014 13:46

Farts = "empty poos"

OhIDoLikeToBeBeside · 01/10/2014 13:59

DS asked us to 'loud up' the television.

Tricky explaining 'turn it up' when there are no knobs on the set anymore!

TheSkiingGardener · 01/10/2014 14:09

According to DS1, screwdrivers are for screwing and spanners are for spanning.

purplemeggie · 01/10/2014 14:12

One more I forgot: towns have outskirsts, in our house, but DS refers to city centres as the "inskirts".

NomenOmen · 01/10/2014 14:14

My DD calls my bra a 'booby-trap'. Cracks me up. Grin

PiggyPlumPie · 01/10/2014 14:21

DD1 (now 15) used to call puddings "any else"

I would ask her if she wanted anything else to eat after dinner and she started asking for an any else!

Trollsworth · 01/10/2014 14:22

Bounceline -be ause you don't tramp on a trampoline

Trollsworth · 01/10/2014 14:24

Oh and the back of his knees are "leg armpits"!

Trollsworth · 01/10/2014 14:27

And tappy eggs means boiled eggs - because you tap them with a spoon

Isitrainingoutside · 01/10/2014 14:30

My bra is a boob-wrapper. Ds has got it in one

dinkystinky · 01/10/2014 14:32

When Ds1 wanted a carry he used to say "up me, up me"

Beehatch · 01/10/2014 14:33

Malted milk biscuits are referred to as 'cow biscuits', and from there we got 'pig biscuits' (for fig biscuits)

The TV remote is the 'motor control'

When DS was small he would politely say 'kumese' (excuse me), and we still use it now
