3yo DS and I were baking muffins on Sunday, he called flour 'pastry powder' Grin

I don't imagine that one'll stick once he knows the real word, but DH calls quiche 'egg cake', and friends of ours all call raspberry jam 'pink jam' since the kids named it years ago.

Any more?

My bra was "boobies knickers"!

Ds2 was full of them, actually.

Mrsfrumble · 01/10/2014 14:37

Cash register are money-pingers. I think DS got that from Charlie & Lola rather than coming up with it himself, but it's so perfect it has stuck.

Eyelashes were eye-brushes.

Ds3 hams with a hammer and hoovs with a hoover.

Not a child's one, but...

Spaghetti you forgot about = Forghetti

Envelopes with windows = windolopes

GraceK · 01/10/2014 14:58

DD2's favourite snack is 'jelly biscuits' (eventually worked out that contrary to the VAT ruling she meant Jaffa Cakes). She drinks 'nuke' (milk) or 'my juice' (a particular squash which everyone is expected to know).

We have dippy, scrambly or sunshine eggs - boiled, scrambled or fried.

'Cheese It' means take a photo (as in 'say Cheese')

'Chuck out time' is the end of an event (such as the school day).

'Bid on it please' for buying anything on the interweb - I guess I must use Ebay too often.

'Bread cooker' for toaster.

Pooseyfrumpture · 01/10/2014 14:59

Penguin squirrels = magpies
Penguin sharks = killer whales
Overlapping = overtaking then lapping i.e. on a race track

catgirl1976 · 01/10/2014 15:00

Scrambled eggs are "Grandma Eggs" here as DM makes them for DS a lot.

The larger remote control is "The Fat Controller" as in Thomas the Tank Engine.

MurkyMinotaur · 01/10/2014 15:00

Oh, the outskirts and 'inskirts' one has reminded me of calling the city centre the 'petty coat', which my Mum used to wear inside her 'out skirt'!

SoonMeansNever · 01/10/2014 15:17

Ooh forgot I'd posted this - loving all these, my favourite has got to be orange yawn, amazing! Grin

My dd calls rice pudding "nice pudding"

SwayingCat · 01/10/2014 15:20

Omelettes are flat eggs in our house. Also we have after this day and before this day for tomorrow and yesterday. Longer to say but much cuter.

LauraChant · 01/10/2014 16:04

DS1 called Cheerios "mini bagels"
DS2 calls spaghetti hoops "hot Cheerios"

I think this charts the gradual slide of standards of healthy eating and what they were introduced to first.

VodIsGod · 01/10/2014 16:08

One spring, DS1 pointed and said "Snow trees!" at the blossom so we still call it that now!

Quenelle · 01/10/2014 16:08

Hotel = bed restaurant

goodtimesinbontemps · 01/10/2014 16:20

My ds1 used to call pins and needles 'fizzies and spikies' and dd still calls them 'fizzies' . When dh had meningitis dd asked me did that mean she would get 'kidingitis' . Ds1 used to call a restaurant the 'dinner shop' :)

chariotsofire · 01/10/2014 16:25

We've had:

Pasta pie = lasagne
Carry you = a carry but comes from 'do you want me to carry you?'
Marks and Spensives = m&s
Tooter or peeyooter = computer depending on which child it was

DD1 was once sick and came and told me by saying 'I coughed and it went all over my pillow'

NoMilkNoSugar · 01/10/2014 16:29

Dd say's 'clip clops' for high heels, because of the noise they make.

Nibledbyducks · 01/10/2014 16:32

Smell stains, for smells that won't clean up or wash out, I rather agree with DS3 that there should be a word for smells that won't go, we have one for colours that don't go so why not! (IFYSWIM) Smile

onlyjoking9329 · 01/10/2014 16:45

Chicken flakes = Kellogg's corn flakes.
Yes roof no roof = convertable car

trice · 01/10/2014 16:49

I still call my two reception rooms the "Watching room" - living room with telly and the "Dancing Room" which contains the hi fi/piano/instruments and we dance about in it.

vixsatis · 01/10/2014 16:51

Labradog

AHotDenseState · 01/10/2014 16:55

DS has a "foot thumb" instead of a big toe, which I find infinitely cuter!

IneedAwittierNickname · 01/10/2014 16:58

Flat eggs = fried eggs here too sneepy
And we un-inside out clothes.

IneedAwittierNickname · 01/10/2014 17:01

AHotDense Ds2 calls his big toe his thumb toe.

I used to teach esol and the ladies their insisted that a clock was a wall watch.

Ds2 had it the other way and used to call a watch an arm clock.
