3yo DS and I were baking muffins on Sunday, he called flour 'pastry powder' Grin

I don't imagine that one'll stick once he knows the real word, but DH calls quiche 'egg cake', and friends of ours all call raspberry jam 'pink jam' since the kids named it years ago.

Any more?

Love these!

Trying to remember some of dd1's (sadly too old for these words now).

rain brolla - umbrella
hello phone - telephone
flufflies - butterflies
ready dry - radiator

misslaughalot · 01/10/2014 11:17

Our telescope is a 'moon looker' (coined by MIL when she couldn't remember the word though...)

CocktailQueen · 01/10/2014 11:19

Giraffes - long necks
(Can we see the long necks at the zoo?) Grin

According to my sons hammers are for 'hamming'.

EmilyGilmore · 01/10/2014 11:22

After I explained to my son what the olden days meant, he started referring to the "newden days".

"Was that in the olden days or in the newden days mummy?"

katiekatie · 01/10/2014 11:23

Pink pancake = Ham

Im going to tease her about that forever Grin

flowerbombVR · 01/10/2014 11:24

Ds asked for Dads 'man spray " aftershave Smile

Kantha · 01/10/2014 11:26

Breakfast in our house frequently involves, "Bubbles in a bowl" = Cheerios

ArtisanBaps · 01/10/2014 11:28

When we have finished a jigsaw, DD asks if we should "pickle it up" - this is the tickling and picking up motion you have to do in order to jumble the pieces back up.

DS used to call his nursery teachers the "look afters"

Their favourite tomato/chorizo/broccoli/pasta dish is called "Mess In the Pan"

poshfrock · 01/10/2014 11:34

Remote control - magic troll ( DD aged about 2). She was convinced there was some magical being living in the control that changed the channel.
Museum - You see'em ( DS aged about 6 in his holiday scrapbook). Kind of makes sense.

fledtoscotland · 01/10/2014 11:41

Ds1 called milk cow juice

DwellsUndertheSink · 01/10/2014 11:45

racquet football = Tennis.

ILiveOnABuildsite · 01/10/2014 11:47

We have the jumpaline here too or occasionally the bounceline. The playgroud is called the swing-slide here because they are dd favourite bits of it.

She also asks to be carried by saying she needs a carrou. That came about from being asked "do you want me to carry you?" Now it's a carrou or a little carrou (as she is getting bigger and heavier and I can't carry her for so long anymore).

Ponyo · 01/10/2014 11:50

We still have our eggs boggled or squaggled - though I think it was my mum who named them, not me or dsis. My dh says it too now :o

Ponyo · 01/10/2014 11:51

Poshfrock - we have a mountain troll who is in charge of what we watch!

dinkystinky · 01/10/2014 11:52

DS2 used to call blossom "fluffum" as it was all fluffy.

And he called trampolines "bounce-aline" as athats what you do on them.

I miss those cute days...

nancy75 · 01/10/2014 11:52

DD called her pre school nother children because there were other children there.

squoosh · 01/10/2014 11:52

My friend's New York baby calls doughnuts 'honey bagels'.

Primrose123 · 01/10/2014 11:59

In our local Tesco, the chocolate and crisps aisle is all the way to the back. When DD (who has always loved swimming) was little, she would ask, "Can we go down the deep end?" meaning she wanted to go the back of the store.

yougotafastcar · 01/10/2014 12:01

DS calls his knee his leg elbow Grin

JufusMum · 01/10/2014 12:03

When DD was little and used to get pins and needles she used to say "my fingers are frizzling".

Bakersbum · 01/10/2014 12:07

Loving all of this!

DS (3) asked where his sister's medicine was, took a while to work out what he meant, he wanted her computer tablet Grin.

lookatgiraffenow · 01/10/2014 12:17
