3yo DS and I were baking muffins on Sunday, he called flour 'pastry powder' Grin

I don't imagine that one'll stick once he knows the real word, but DH calls quiche 'egg cake', and friends of ours all call raspberry jam 'pink jam' since the kids named it years ago.

Any more?

Orange yawn is amazing. Grin

My niece doesn't have meat at home, because her parents are vegetarian. When she eats out, she gets very excited about meat, pointing and saying 'mmm, dead animals'!

Ds1 enjoys 'splatted eggs' or 'dippy eggs' for his breakfast (fried or soft boiled)

maccie · 01/10/2014 09:52

We have also had a "jumpoline" rather than a trampoline.

My oldest was most upset when he woke from a nap to find he had a fizzy arm - pins and needles

My dd shouted from the bathroom to let me know that "her bum had been sick" after her first bout of diarrhoea aged 3.

Also all 4dc insisted they were flutterbys. Have given up correcting now as I think I prefer their description

TSSDNCOP · 01/10/2014 09:59

We have Sunday Cake with our roast dinner (Yorkshire pudding)

DidoTheDodo · 01/10/2014 10:04

My DD (aged 2) had diarrhoea and announced "my bottom's been sick" which sums it up nicely, I think.

caitner · 01/10/2014 10:08

My son has two types of trousers: shorts, for when it's warm, and longs, for when it isn't.

At our house, a trampoline is a jumperbean . . . not quite logical, but pretty fun to say.

katiegee · 01/10/2014 10:08

RumpyPumpus there is an legend that butterflies were originally called flutterbys but a typo in a version of a dictionary and the new name stuck. No idea if it's true or not but it makes for a good story.

And I have to agree with you son, flutterby makes far more sense than butterfly Smile

serislou · 01/10/2014 10:08

We have seagirls instead of seagulls. Something I only realised when asked where all the seaboys were!

FrazzledFandango · 01/10/2014 10:09

I love orange yawn! (although not in real life)

DS (22 m) is too little for literal ones but this morning started saying "Oh cheer" when anything goes wrong.

ThisFenceIsComfy · 01/10/2014 10:10

Eyes for glasses

Rain for umbrella

Rocket man for astronaut

AtrociousCircumstance · 01/10/2014 10:15

DS, when two, asking where the remote controller for his toy car was:

"Where my go-this-way go-that-way?"

treadheavily · 01/10/2014 10:20

Ds not wanting to come in when the rain starts - "can't I stay out until the rain has biggered?"

Melawen · 01/10/2014 10:29

Love reading these! DD (2.10) called tomato sauce Glooby after I once commented that it was rather gloopy!

YeahItsMe · 01/10/2014 10:33

We have radi-heater for radiator. Makes sense :D

BlackeyedSusan · 01/10/2014 10:45

ds's "red sors" is not red sauce (ketchup) but lots of vegetables, lentils and beans in chopped tomatoes. they are doinghealthy eating at school. it will not go down well if he writes he had red sors and pasta for tea.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 01/10/2014 10:55

I love eye bubbles and fizzy arms, too!

ArielsShinyFork · 01/10/2014 11:04

My 2 year old calls milk 'purple' because she used to drink it out of a purple bottle.

Also if she needs to blow her nose she says she's got spiders in her nose! Freaked me out the first time she came out with that Grin

Idontseeanysontarans · 01/10/2014 11:09

DD2 (2.7 yo) calls a roundabout a 'spinny round'.

Piratejones · 01/10/2014 11:10

Fried egg - splat egg
Boiled egg - dippy egg
Scrambled egg - fluffy egg

oohlalaland · 01/10/2014 11:14

cauliflower = ghost broccoli Grin

PlaydoughGirl · 01/10/2014 11:15

DS used to call the smoke that comes after you blow out a candle 'candle fluff'

SanityClause · 01/10/2014 11:15

We had a nanny who used to say "ooh, cheeky" if one of the children farted. So, a fart became "cheeky bottom".
