Four months into potty training and about to give up

After four months of sticker charts etc My DD (age 2 and a half) is still pooing on the floor or in her pants sometimes twice a day and weeing between once and four times a day. I should say that on a good day she will take herself to the potty do a wee and empty it into the toilet several times without any bother at all and at nursery she often doesn't wee all morning until we get home. I have never been as short tempered as i am over it at the moment and desperately don't want her to become anxious about it all. I think because I didn't make a fuss intially about poos and wees on the carpet - saying nevermind love just do it on the potty next time - she nows says to me nevermind Mummy it's alright and doesn't seem in the least bit bothered by it. Any advice please?? I am planning to break what seems to be a cardinal rule and put her back in nappies tomorrow.

Hi everyone.
Just back from our hols
DS was brilliant as regards toilet training. We didn't take the potty and we didn't need it. He started telling us when he needed a wee and a poo. He stands to do all his wee's and sits on the toilet seat for his poo's .

Still has the odd accident but thats ok.

On the plane home he went to the toilet 3 times but nothing was happening. This is usually a sign that he really needs a poo. Anyway the poo made it into his pants before we could get back to the toilet. Imagine stripping down a lo with his pants covered in gooey poo in a tiny squat of an airline loo!!!!! The lights are flashing to fasten your seat belts for landing....... We had fun lets put it that way and he ended up going knickerless all the way home.

Hi everyone. We're doing brilliantly here. My DD who is now almost 2.9 has now decided that she will do all her poo's on the loo, on her own, with no help - whether it be the loo here at home, at a friends or even in Tescos! Its as if she's suddenly discovered doing them in your knickers isn't such a good idea after all..... We've had no wee accidents for two months and no poo accidents now for about two weeks. I'm obviously a very happy and relieved Mum!!!!

How is everyone else doing? Good to see Reece is doing so well....even trying on a plane! Wow!

Well done Barney2. Doesn't look like we will be seeing you on this thread again.

DS is doing ok. Was doing brilliantly but is using wee/poo accidents as a way to anger me. I am remaining calm and hope to weather the storm.

......Reece...I'm still here....sorry!!!..... my DD thinks its now great fun to drag me to the loo every time she needs to go because she can't/won't put herself on the loo herself - each time I'm met with 'can't do it'. Also completely soaked herself yesterday whilst having a tantrum and soaked the floor whilst at a kids party at the weekend....so we're not all done this end either. I'm sure its an attention seeking thingy but boy is it driving me nuts and my patience is regularly pushed to its limit....I'm not a happy Mummy....

Sorry to hear that Barney2.
I just keep remembering what a friend of mine told me. It took her over a year before her little girl was completely 100% potty trained with no accidents.

When I think of that I kind of relax a little as I am only 4 months in!!!!ha ha.

I have gone to so much trouble to try and encourage DS to use the toilet but he will only go when its his idea and tbh he doesn't really think about going at all until its the very very lasdt minute.

Ok now I am getting fed up.
DS had 2 wee's and a poo accident this afternoon and I am no longer thinking of what my pal told me! Have started another thread to see if anyone else has experienced regression with their children once they started pre-school and what they did about it.
