How big was the lump ?
Honestly I wouldn't worry, it wasn't that long ago babies would be having solids at that age and one off won't hurt.

AryaofhouseSnark · 19/12/2013 11:18

Grin it could have been a lot worse, could have been chocolate or gin.

Ghostsdonttalk · 19/12/2013 11:21

When I had Dd 1 ( now almost 14) babies were weaned at 12 - 14 weeks and I gave her a spoonfeed of pureed strawberries at 13 weeks. She is fine.

Just be thankful it was butter ( ie edible) it is one of those things you will laugh about in a few years!

I accidentally fed ds a dollop of coconut icecream. He was in the sling and it fell into his mouth! He was 8 weeks! Seems ok now (20 weeks)

WhispersOfWickedness · 19/12/2013 11:27

He'll be fine Smile

Second DC do tend to be introduced to things a bit faster due to enthusiastic older siblings Grin

My DC2 was found munching on a marmalade sandwich when she was 5 months old, DC1 had given it to her because he felt sorry for her that we had lunch and she didn't! HmmGrin

FuckyNell · 19/12/2013 11:28

Xmas Grin fell in his mouth!!

ThurlHoHoHow · 19/12/2013 11:40

I'm sure he'll be fine, babies were weaned very early once, but obviously just keep an eye on him. He'll probably have loved it!

purplemurple1 · 19/12/2013 13:49

I was advised by my HV to put margerine into my 15week old DS's bottles to help avoid constipation when he was 6 weeks (I perhapes stupidly did it once before looking it up myself and finding out it isn't recommended at all) - DS is fine so I wouldn't be too worried, but maybe be prepared for some runny nappies.

Mabelface · 19/12/2013 14:01

And did your baby like it? Wink. All will be fine.

Blu · 19/12/2013 14:04

How old is your toddler?
I don't see how a toddler could be expected to know that that was 'naughty'. She was probably intending to be kind / generous.

Pooka · 19/12/2013 14:04

DS1 gave ds2 his first chocolate button at about 10 weeks old. DS1 was 4. DS2 really really enjoyed it. Had eyes like saucers as he gummed it (dd, aged 6 told on ds1, otherwise I'd have been none the wiser - although the hefty remnants of melted chocolate round his mouth would probably have given the game away).

FoxyRevenger · 19/12/2013 15:10

My next door neighbour has weaned both of her girls at 10 weeks, starting with...mince and tatties! Mmmmmmm.

A wee bit of butter will be fine....anything is fine compared to mince as a first food Grin

JoinYourPlayfellows · 19/12/2013 15:12

Love the coconut icecream falling into the baby's mouth :o

I'm sure the baby will be fine.

StealthPolarBear · 19/12/2013 15:16

Cogito that is hilarious! What was the reaction.

Much older I know but dd was discovered face down in a tuppwrware box of cupcakes with loads of buttercream at 7 months old. I hadn't realised she could crawl. Or remove tupperware lids that I struggle with ...

phantomhairpuller · 19/12/2013 15:20

My toddler fed my 5 week old garden peas, back in the summer Blush

Bloody kids!

TheGreatHunt · 19/12/2013 15:23

Bit harsh to put your toddler on the naughty step. Strictly speaking it was on your watch....!

I'm sure baby is fine. Ok not ideal to get solids so early but only if you're properly weaning them (super early weaning is linked to crohns) but the one bit of butter surely will be fine.

MummyLuce · 19/12/2013 15:25

I was given Cornish pasty at 6 weeks!! I also let my 6 week old lick choc off my finger once! Your baby will be fine!

storynanny · 19/12/2013 15:29

Back in the day, my eldest 2 were on 3 babyfood meals a day at 14 weeks, they are fine normal adults in their 30's when 3rd was a tiny baby of 3 weeks i caught them giving him tap water out of a toy cup!

milk · 19/12/2013 15:30

DS1 when he was 4mo helped me eat a Cornetto! He is still with us :)

Casmama · 19/12/2013 15:30

Butter is mainly made of milk anyway is it not?
I'm sure your baby will be fine.

KatherinaMinola · 19/12/2013 15:31

Honestly he'll be fine. My baby ate a pine cone at not much older.

Butter is basically very fatty milk.

ArthurCucumber · 19/12/2013 15:34

Baby will be fine. My oldest (now teenage) was weaned according to HV advice on baby rice before 12 weeks as she was unsettled. It didn't help, but she's never shown any ill effects and is 15 now. In fact, there's a whole preceding generation of teens and older who were weaned way before the current guidelines. Obviously we know more now and shouldn't go back to the old ways, but there's a fair bit of margin for error.

At about 10 weeks dd1 was given a bit of lemonade by a dotty great-granny - again, no problems. And when my sister brought my nephew home from hospital she came into the room to hear sucking noises and found that his toddler sister had popped a GRAPE into his mouth Shock. She learned pretty fast that toddlers and babies aren't a great mix when left alone together for longer than - ooh, 2 seconds or so? Wink TBH I'd forget about the naughty step and just chalk it down to experience. It isn't easy being a new big sister.

AMuppetChristmasCorral · 19/12/2013 15:41

DS1 got very cross with 17w old DS2 yesterday when he kindly gave up half the ham sandwich he was eating and DS2 didn't eat it Xmas Grin

(I was there so no danger of him actually eating it even if he tried)

AnyFuckerWillDo · 19/12/2013 16:36

Sorry about late return. Butter bowl probably had about 1-2 sugar cube lump sizes in and all gone :0/ can't see DD eating it to be honest... He had it round his mouth and on his bib. He wasn't upset and giggling away as usual so may have enjoyed it!!
Blu / GreatHunt DD is 2.10 and definitely knows putting things in DS is wrong, she's been told numerous times about it. Hence naughty step. Was almost certainly just role playing but still naughty, I had a chat with her after naughty step explaining why she shouldnt feed him.... And yep my watch and I've learnt through many incidences that I am not allowed to pee/leave the room Sad
Anyway despite my earlier panic he's fine and we've all had a lovely day mooching the sales and delivering presents Smile
