I've got it on its folded down version because DS is only diddy, but it all wicks from the lining bit round the front... Am I doing something wrong? Is there any way to stop it folding forward a bit and wicking?

If not, I might have a nappy to sell you :(

Padded bit goes at the front because that is the area that tends to get wettest.

The inner lining fabric is fleece which stays dry and therefore you don't get any wicking (well, I've never had any anyway! Smile).

How'd you get on?

Dd2 was in one for hours earlier - dry as a bone! (Although the insert was sopping...)

SoupDragon · 20/05/2006 18:38

Well, she pooed in it in under 2 hours so it didn't get a thorough road test :o No apparent damp bits or leaks though.

It's now going through the "how long does it take to wash and dry" test.

And I'm seeing how much the US sites charge for UK shipping...

BonyM · 20/05/2006 19:55

Babies just never do what you want them to do they? So inconsiderate....Grin.

Are the US sites much cheaper? Must check them out.

Actually, no, I mustn't check them out, I've got more than enough nappies to be going along with Grin.

A single BumGenuis in white is about $16/17. And they come in grasshopper green, pale orange and pale blue for about $17/18. 12 white for $190 ish.

SoupDragon · 20/05/2006 20:35

It's dry already too :)

lua · 20/05/2006 21:19

That was fast washing and drying! Did you use a dryer then?
Another stupid question about pockets... do I have to take the insert out before washing? and if so how bad of a job is it?

Am getting more and more interested. I'm going across the ocean next month...Anyone wants to share a pack of 12 with me?

SoupDragon · 20/05/2006 21:21

No - put the liner on the radiator and hung the outer bit on one of those clip trouser hangers above the radiator.

SoupDragon · 20/05/2006 21:22

Bearing in mind I'm a complete novice at this... you just pull the liner out. Takes under 30 seconds! Yes, you take it out to wash - I guess it would get bunched up otherwise.

SoupDragon · 20/05/2006 21:24

Another question.... if the fleece stays dry, can you get away with just replacing the insert of a wet nappy? (although there's something vaguely icky about that!)

lua · 20/05/2006 21:28

I don't see why not.
But then I'm known for cutting corners...
I usually use a liner, and when DS poops in cloth nappy within the first hour I just replace the liner....Blush

MrsDoolittle · 20/05/2006 21:49

Mine arrived thus morning too.
I am seriously impressed. It's a really slim nappy. I'm waiting for my waffles to arrive too, I guess they'll come next week.
Am I going to have to order a bamboozle for nightime now? I already quite successfully use bumbles at night. Do I really need anymore??

Soupdragon - I read somewhere that you don't need to take the insert out to wash it. I am going to lauch the whole thing as it is into the wash. I don't usually need to take the inserts out of any nappies, most come out in the wash.

SoupDragon · 21/05/2006 15:18

I took it out because I thought it would wash better that way (radioactive yellow baby poo :o) Certainly dried very quickly. Anyway, BabyDragon is in it again for a roadtest.

Why do you think the American Bumgenius nappies have a logo-ed tag on the front and the UK ones don't...?

SoupDragon · 21/05/2006 15:45

She's blimmin well done it again! Under an hour this time. Pa!

SoupDragon · 21/05/2006 16:35

Despite the fact that she's worn it for less than 3 hours over 2 days, I desperately want to like this nappy. It's slim, it's easy, it dries quickly and lasts (allegedly) up to potty training.

BonyM · 21/05/2006 17:40

I always take the inserts out to wash although it's obviously not essential as MrsD will testify!

Don't think you need Bamboozles MrsD, if you're happy with your Huggles. But then, I didn't really need the Bumgenius either...Grin

Must get around to selling my least-favourite nappies (which was mu justification for buying more!)

Soupy - like the sound of the US coloured Bumgenius, wonder why we've only got boring white over here? I guess we'll get the coloured ones eventually.

expatinscotland · 21/05/2006 17:42

Have Bamboozle in hand. :o

It's going in w/the next wash.

Whoever gave out that tip about using Tesco microfibre cloths as a booster is a genius.

BonyM · 21/05/2006 20:18

Just had an email from the Natural Baby Resource - they've got Bumgenius colours in!

They're also doing a promotion whereby they'll refund you if you don't like it and return it within 14 days.

TheFlameWhoWasAfraidOfTheDark · 21/05/2006 20:40

Was just coming on to say about the same email!!! Grin

Putting your bamboozles flat in the windowsill will help with the de-pooing, but it takes longer than outside on a sunny day.

The sun is incredible on them though - they come in looking like new.

Trying bumgenius again tomorrow...

expatinscotland · 21/05/2006 20:42

Flame
How many times did you have to wash your Bamboozles before use? The lassie in the shop said it can take more than one wash to build up absorbancy? True, or tosh?

Planning to use them for night.

TheFlameWhoWasAfraidOfTheDark · 21/05/2006 20:52

True - I went with 3 pre-wearing (you don't have to dry them in between apparantly), and then they still took about 2 wears before they seemed to reach their full holdingyness.

expatinscotland · 21/05/2006 20:55

Thanks. I'll pop them in w/my TotsBots then. Strange, my Tots and Rainbow Bots only took one wash to get going. I haven't used a Fluffle, but of course, I'll be trying some Kissaluvs, too.

This can get addictive, ladies!

SoupDragon · 21/05/2006 21:00

I actually prefer the plain white bumgenius over the colours but I'm weird like that:)

BonyM · 21/05/2006 21:03

Must admit, I only washed my Bamboozles once before using and they were fine. Have become more absorbent over time though.

expatinscotland · 21/05/2006 21:04

This is my first foray into cloth, BonyM, you and flame's knowledge is invaluable.

I'm going to use the Bamboozle for night w/a booster.

Am presently using a TotsBots but w/two boosters.

ME Rikki wrap b/c she's too big for M/L Airflow but L one is too baggy and I'm worried about wicking.
