I know I shouldn't give up but I have now been trying for a week and she hasn't done one pee in the potty at home. She sat on the potty a lot more today than she has done but nothing ever came out. She only peed twice all day and did sit ont he potty at one point cos she said she needed to go but didn't! She's off to nursery tomorrow afternoon so i am going to wait and see whether she goes there or not before I decide to continue o rnot Blush PLease don't tell me off Cod, I have tried!

MrsDoolittle · 30/05/2006 21:24

What a day! We missed everything!Almost.
She had pooed in her night nappy. Wouldn't sit on the potty all morning, then 5 minutes after a session on the loo she wet her pants and trousers.

While I was changing ds's nappy, she came and wee'd on the floor in her bedroom.

Nap.

Then we went around to the neighbours. Very conscientously I kept asking her to sit on the loo! "No",came the adamant reply.
Then, when I take my eye off the ball for two miutes while she was palying she had wet her pants and my neighbours carpet!! Blush

Later as I was making tea in the kitchen, she had drunk about three cups of water she had wet herself and everywhere else.
I was angry at this point and told her to undress herself. She was obviously uncomfortable. Then nakid, she says "Wee Nunny!" and she sat herself on the potty and did a huge wee. In fact, she was congratulating herself when I realised.

Again, after a not so good day we finish on a good note.

It appears to be two steps back, then one step forward.

It seems we are all having similar experiences.

Hi can I join in?

Ds is only 2.1 but is very aware of the potty due to my having trained the older mindees. However he's a totally different kettle of fish, plus they were a lot better at communication than him, as were far later. But would like to give it a go (dreams of just one in nappies in august Grin)

What do I need cod? lots of pants, those disposable change mats, lots of cheap clothes, anything else?

You say sweets or stickers, do I have to give him sweets every time he wees? As he tends to do three in one go - he wees then makes me wipe it out, then he wees, then i wipe it out, then he strains a final one out?

What about naps and going out? (I'm assuming nappies at night) and do you get cross if they don't do it or just get on with it? A friend swore by a good telling off if they had an accident, another refused to as she said it would have put hers off....

LadyCodofCOdford · 30/05/2006 21:51

well i get terse if htey sya they dont want one then wee on floor
dont ask them take them initially
then place loo VERy near where they are
yep nappies at night
id did sweets every time for the first day or so
they soon forget abotu it

lunavix · 30/05/2006 21:53

Did you say something about every 15min? He does ask for wees, but tends to just tell me after a poo.

LadyCodofCOdford · 30/05/2006 21:54

yes try that intially
soem find it too foten

lunavix · 30/05/2006 21:59

Okay then, will be trying tomorrow. Not sure what will do when at park for a few hours with the older kids, will have to play it by ear!

LadyCodofCOdford · 30/05/2006 22:00

ok! am otu lal day wed but in later

Normsnockers · 31/05/2006 09:48

5 pairs of pants/trousers in a day ?

Pathetic ! In our very early days we had a record 8 changes required. Thank god for eBay nearly new stuff and Tescos £2 a pair trackie bottoms/jeans.

We are still doing quite well (although it is 4 weeks since we started), only 1 accident at nursery yesterday and 1 in the middle of a screaming tantrum just before bath/bedtime last night(he was overtired with cumulative sleep deficit from our weekend away).

He now hasn't had a poo for 3 days however and I'm getting a bit worried. How long can a three year old go without pooing ?

MarsLady · 31/05/2006 11:12

Signing in for the day. Got the DTs up and out of nappies. Popped them in knickers and pants. Then DT2 smiled at me and wet himself. DT1 said "NO potty!". So it's going to be interesting.

Today has begun..........

Hayls · 31/05/2006 11:19

Sounds like my house, MArs! Dd has had pants on all morning, been to the supermarket and stayed dry. Came home and she sat on the floor, shouted OH no and wee came out. I swooped over and plopped her on the potty cos it was really only a dribble and she should have had more to come but nothing more came out Sad
We;re flying to see my mum tomorrow morning and I'm dreading it. I;'m going to tak eher to the airport in ther jammies so won't out her pants on until we're on the plane (and the nappy has hopefully caught the morning poo)

MarsLady · 31/05/2006 13:48

Don't give up Hayls, it'll be harder to start again again iyswim.

DT1 has decided that she likes sitting on the potty now. No wees, but progress because she's happy to sit on it.

DT2 still weeing beside the potty and found poo on the floor in his room again. Sigh......

Still... will continue on.

wanderingstar · 31/05/2006 16:16

My little man is still, to my surprise cos he can be most contrary, going great guns. No accidents AT ALL yesterday Smileand none yet today either. When I took off his night nappy this morning he told me unprompted he was going to be a big boy again and wear pants. he then obligingly weed in the potty.
He hasn't much idea though of when a wee is imminent, but I know that development will happen soon. For now, I'm really chuffed he seems to have workrd out how all the muscles work if I sit him on the potty and ask him to wee.

MarsLady · 31/05/2006 16:18

Well done wanderingstar Smile

wanderingstar · 31/05/2006 16:29

Keep going Marslady; deciding she likes to sit on the potty is def progress for your dt1. Bless her ! As for poo on the floor, wellll, no poos here since Monday , so I'm waiting with bated breath iyswim...

dewmeadow · 31/05/2006 19:02

whats worse - poo on floor or poo in pants?

wanderingstar · 31/05/2006 19:28

The poo is here !...In the pants...and a bit on the floor (luckily wooden so easy to clean).
He was not pleased, which I suppose is a good sign "Poor poor pants oh no!"
I just said never mind let's put the next poo in the potty...Partly my fault; I was ignoring him totally while he was at the back of the kitchen and I was checking out the start time for Line of Beauty later.

lunavix · 31/05/2006 19:29

So day 1!

Ds woke up and I explained to him about how he's now in pants. Had printed a reward chart last night and some stickers, and cut them out ready. He was rather impressed by the football chart and stickers, then when I tried undressing him he threw an almightly wobbler. He gets like this sometimes, he's a teenager in a toddlers body and hates mornings and getting up and getting dressed. So he screamed at me from 8am - 10.30am. During which time I managed to finally strip him, take the nappy off and throw it away (cue screams of NO NAPPY IN BIN NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and him trying to fish it out) and got a tshirt on him but no pants (screaming BAD MONKEY at them - they have monkeys on them) He finally did a big wee on the potty followed by a tiny one, had a sticker and was quite chuffed all round.

We had to go out and I wussed out, so he went in a nappy - we were going down to a place with one dodgy toilet, I don't ahve a travel potty yet or care mats, so wasn't feeling brave! After he came home, I have to admit I forgot abuot the nappy and he pooed in it, telling me straight after - duh. Stuck pants on him, and got a wee out of him on the potty around 4ish (think there might have been a tiny dribble on the sofa earlier but couldn't tell as he had a drink too) then when dh and I were in the kitchen he cried ' potty' and was weeing - scooped him up and he managed to stop until he sat on the potty and finished so got a sticker for that as he managed to hold the rest in.

Then sadly did a wee on the carpet as I was in kitchen and dh upstairs so our fault again really - but about 5 minutes later asked for potty and did a huge wee so another sticker!

Since then he's asked for it again, (although insisted he went downstairs with the potty) so a sticker there, now he's done another so another sticker now!

So so far - 2 accidents, 6 stickers! (and one nappy)

MrsDoolittle · 31/05/2006 20:22

Well my day has been rubbish.

Ds was awake 2am, 4am and 6am, so I am shattered. However we got up and put pants on dd at 9.30am. While ds was having his morning nap I had a bath with the company of dd. Obligingly, she even brought her potty into bathroom too Smile But for all the good it did me, next thing I hear is "wee Nunny", and she had wee'd on the bath mat.
Off came her pants and while I wasn't looking and washing my hair she hung on the radiator ON TOP OF MY TOWEL TO DRY Shock
"No no" screeches I "put them in the wash!"
So off she toddles to put thme in the wash. However, deeply suspicious, on her return I ask her where her pants are, "in the wash" she says, almost convincingly. I asked dd to show me.
I find the knickers, not in the washing machine or the dirty laundry basket but in my CLEAN washing on the table. The same pair of knickers was nestled among the pile of clean ones to go into her bedroom!!

Anyway, we had another wee while she was playing and I was in the kitchen. She tells me, but it's to late. 5 minutes after she had been sitting on the potty Angry
She had a wee during her nap.
Then we went around to our neighbours garden, she wee'd again while she was playing. I thought it might embarrass her but it didn't.
Then later she came in from outside with wet sandals and pants.

She had also been doing absolutely stinky parps during her tea, so I know there was a poo to come but despite many attempts no poos in the potty!! She wee'd in the bath but still no poo.
I bet she poos in her nappy tonight.

So a rubbish day. I feel we are going backwards Sad

dewmeadow · 31/05/2006 20:49

re poos - I feel like that every day! o well, tomorrow is another pooey day...

poppyh · 01/06/2006 07:45

can i join this thread? dd is 3years and 4 months. Got fed up of waiting for her to be ready, so now on day 3 of potty training. She has used her potty for one wee, but keeps forgetting and weeing on floor. Also seems scared of poo situation, and did in her knickers last night.
am armed with antibacterial wipes and pull ups for night time.am doing the whole star chart and treat thing. deffo not going back to nappies now as i started and will get there!!
Any advice gladly welcomed!!

MarsLady · 01/06/2006 09:28

Oh it's time to rejoice and be glad!!!!!!!!!

DT1 did a poo and a wee in her nappy before her bath last night. Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!! I was out! So DD1 and the babysitter (my lovely French girl) had the honour of cheering, whooping it up and presenting her with her maltesers. So all that rejecting the potty, then sitting on it has finally been rewarded. Here's hoping it continues today. Grin

DT2.... still "spraying" the house! Oh and he wee-ed at breakfast all over the stool! Sigh....... So lots of attention and over the top praise for Mister Man.

Lunavix...wow!
MrsDoolittle... fret not angel. You continue to be my potty inspiration.
Welcome Poppyh (almost slipped and typed Pooyh Blush)
Dewmeadow... poo.. my greatest fear lol
Wanderingstar thanks. We will win! Grin

mummyinred · 01/06/2006 10:16

I've just come across what I think is a great idea to help with potty training and different to the sticker charts, which don't seem to work for longer than a day. It's a sticker which you put on the bottom of the potty and when they do a wee the heat activates the sticker and a smily face appears! My daughter loves it. You can buy them on e-bay, search under potty training stickers.

MrsDoolittle · 01/06/2006 10:34

I have to post this morning Grin
The poo did not arrive last night. She here's me this morning singing "Where's poo?"

Out of night nappy and into pants at 9am - wee'd in pants while I was changing ds. I was quite cross and told her she must wee in the potty and that Lottie would want her to wee in her potty too. Lottie being our 6 yr old neighbour. Even though I was quite cross she obviously felt I needed an explanation and warbled away in her gibberish.

Phone rang while I was getting changed. I was in my bedroom answering it and an awful smell reached my nose. Dd was sitting on the potty in her bedroom smiling at me. She did however, still have her pants on. She had done an enormous wee and was doing a poo!
I cut the phone call short and starting clapping and whooping to dd, quickly whipping off her pants and depositing the very large poo into the potty (splashed myself too) and pretending that it had gone straight into the potty. Lots of hugs and kisses. Dd puffs out her chest and we rang Daddy who dutifully gave lots of praise too.

So right now we have one happy toddler and happy mummy.

How long can this last?

Good luck everyone. Mars you are incredible doing it with two, one is hard enough.

Like this smiley under the potty idea.

Anyway, i was getting
