  3. there is NO going bakc
do not start if oyu are going ot poof out
  1. remmeber it is hard work - hence hte training - yes life will be more difficult for a couple of weeks
  2. do NOT use pull ups for day time naps or anythin short of a 2 hour journey
  3. night training is a wholey seperate issue

well done all! freal progres i think dont you all agree/
dont worry about night nappies at all

melsy · 14/04/2006 12:17

well Id wish I never started on the potty ,as shes so independant and goes herself , its too easy ,especially with it being in the room shes in and with nothing on, so no faffing with jeans , knickers etc. Its so different to being out in knickers and having to tell me that she needs to go and waiting till we get to a toilet. She wont have that luxury at nursury the week after next. I think I may have to confiscate the potty and start a hard line tack. I thought I was doing well , but realise that this isnt really training her as such. Whats your thoughts Cod, am I expecting to much again??????

looneytune · 14/04/2006 12:59

Sounds like things are improving for most of us! Alittlebitshy - my ds holds on for ages and doesn't have his first wee til near midday - I think they are just learning to hold on?

After ds cheered me up yesterday by going when I tried the 'spider' trick, he did the same again later (because we never got round to mentioning the 'oh, spider in potty' to mindee earlier with excitement of actually weeing, I tried it again and it worked Grin) We even went out for a couple of hours in the afternoon and no accidents :)

So in the end yesterday (day 6):

1 wee on upstairs carpet
2 wees in potty (me getting him on there)

Mummy was so happy she let ds watch dvd in mummy and daddy's bed last night Wink

So far today (Day 7):

No accidents
1 wee on potty by himself (mummy and daddy upstairs and ds shouting 'I NEED TO SHOW YOU SOMETHING.......' and then great happy face that he was so clever!) :)

Hoping that with no mindees for 4 days, he may concentrate a little more and have more success?? (fingers crossed!!!)

Good luck for the rest of the day girls :)

GrinGrinGrinGrin

Ds just jumped off sofa (whilst eating ice lolly) and ran into kitchen where we were, shouting 'need a weeeeeeeeee' and was smiling as ran in. He went on the potty and hey presto Grin

So, to anyone out there loosing the will to live like I was, STICK AT IT :):):)

looneytune · 14/04/2006 15:08

OMG..........Shock..........ds just shouted SURPRISE so I thought he'd done another wee in potty but no, I was wrong..............it was a lovely POO!!! Nothing in pants, all done by himself with no prompt or anything.

THERE IS HOPE, THERE IS HOPE!!! GrinGrinGrinGrin

Mummy has been screaming and dancing (just hope no more complaints from neighbours about the noise! Wink

BTW, I think the fact he's had some chocolate egg as treat has something to do with it Wink

melsy · 14/04/2006 15:24

just gotta try and get poos cracked so shes not saving them for 11:30pm or 6:00 am !!

looneytune · 14/04/2006 15:32

Hi melsey - how proud you must be of her going on the big toilet!! I remember when I trained my very first new mindee in July last year. She went straight on the toilet which was great and it was great to be able to take her to public toilets without a softie seat to sit on! I also was over the moon when she did her first wee in the park where we were having a picnic. She used to be scared but soon got the hang of it then I was having to take her on the pavement on each school run Grin

I'm just glad I'm making progress as it was looking ok then went all wrong and I just thought he wasn't ready.

THANK GOD FOR BOOT CAMP :) which kept me going, otherwise I would have thought he was just not ready as my friends don't seem to have had as many problems (having said that, most friends have girls!)

Keep up the good work Melsey :)

cod · 15/04/2006 13:43

well done all
yes i got rid of th potty after a while

alittlebitshy · 15/04/2006 14:08

yesterday, day 5, no accidents - 4 wees on potty!!!

today, day 6, so far 2 wees on potty, 1 accident.

is it ok that I am still taking her. she has a pattern so i know roughly how long she can hold it in. she will learn to tell she needs to go on a regulat basis and let me know, won't she?

just need to get those poos on potty!!!

cod · 15/04/2006 14:09

yes try not taking her one mornign and see what happens

well done

snafu · 15/04/2006 17:27

Day 4 - ds was dry all of yesterday and so far today!

Am so proud of him (although preparing myself for a relapse when the novelty of 'wee in toilet' and chocolate buttons wears off). But he's cottoned-on much faster than I thought he would - yay! Poos still an issue but - hey, it's a much better start than I ever would have dreamed of. Grin Grin

snafu · 15/04/2006 17:32

Oh alright, go on then, you can take a bit of the credit, fishy Grin

Passionflower · 15/04/2006 17:42

Help! After amazing day 4, yesterday day 5 was pretty disasterous:

Dry nappy when we got up big smelly overnight wee in potty in the morning then...

4 yes 4 wee accidents
and
2 poo accidents.

Today has followed the same pattern got the first wee in potty after dry night nappy followed by about five wee accidents. Also when I tell her to try on the potty she yells "can't" and won't be bribed by anything cue potty battles. Coddy or anybody got any ideas?

Latz · 15/04/2006 18:36

Hi

Yesterday was best so far 4 wees on potty although on one she forgot to pull down her pants just sat on potty and did it. Also 2 poos on potty and 2 poo accidents - shame cos she obviously got upset pooing her pants.

Now today...
2 wees in potty this morning, 1 of which she had her pants on! 2 wee accidents this afternoon - battles getting her on potty.
Also one poo on potty - the real red faced straining one!

Getting there .....

cod · 15/04/2006 18:38

passion get someon outside the fmaily
( granny or aunt ) to bribe her

Kittypickle · 15/04/2006 18:47

I know I'm expelled but I'm posting anyway as the offending trainer pants are not here yet Wink

Yesterday was great, 2 wees and 2 poos in the potty, no accidents.

Today wasn't so good this afternoon as he was tired and had two wee accidents and a poo accident (I suspect it's no coincidence that DH was in charge!). But he got 2 wees and 2 poos in this morning.

Passionflower, DS totally refused to sit on it for a little bit and I had to twice literally drag him out from under the table and stick him on a few days ago. My Mum looked on in horror but I know DS and if he thought that going was optional I would never have got him on. Definitely not suggesting you do this but hang in there.

Heathcliffscathy · 15/04/2006 18:50

i've found that ds hates being told to do anything and this goes for being asked if he needs the loo. so just an hour ago i started saying to him 'you tell me when you need the loo, you say 'mummy i need the loo' and lo and behold the last two wees have been at his instigation! huzzah!

no accidents yet today!

and he's got a temperature (poor baby)

:)

alex8 · 15/04/2006 19:28

any tips if they won't tell you when they need to go? especially with poos? We've been doing it for 11 days. Hes ok at home (I alsk him or watch for lots of jiggling and clutching) and somewhere where there is a loo nearby. But going outside is a pain and involves 3 changes of clothes at least. Someone gave us one of those portable potty things but he seems too big for it. Hes 2 yrs 10 months and prefered the loo from day one.

cod · 15/04/2006 19:30

ok will post the cod patented method for weeing boys ( as told to me by mate rachel)
take boys under armpits
lean forward with feet on floor still

wee

pull up pants
dot his by car wheel when you arrive anywhere

alittlebitshy · 15/04/2006 19:35

todays grand total for us was 4 wees in potty, one in knickers, and no poos at all.

she has not yet done a poo in the potty, but i reckon that'll just click one day once the weeing is all sorted out.

told me once off own back needed to go, and once when dh asked, she said no, er, yes.

had asked just before we ein knickers but i suspect she said no just to shut me up. grr.

feeling more positive. made it out twice today!!!!!!

bribery still in force, can't see it ending yet ;(

alex8 · 15/04/2006 19:35

Yes we did something similar today in a car park. Although my partner was holding him from behind but luckily no-one got wee on them.

But he then did a poo that we didn't even know about till I put him on my lap and felt it! (we were at petting farm so didn't notice any smells!)

He is generally crap at telling us but good at going on demand. Will one day he just click and tell us? He talks non stop about everything else.

alittlebitshy · 15/04/2006 19:37

oh dear alex8- what a nasty surprise for you :)

my dd is just starting to sometimes tell us she needs to go, but mostly it's when i put her on the potty cos i think she's due (although there are lots when she doesn't go)

alex8 · 15/04/2006 19:44

I have bought cheap pants from ethel austin (10 for £2.50) but soem days its just seems like I am using the pants like very non absorbant nappies.
