right

  1. this is for any kid over hte age of 2
  2. imo the best age ie 2 - 2.5
  3. there is NO going bakc
do not start if oyu are going ot poof out
  1. remmeber it is hard work - hence hte training - yes life will be more difficult for a couple of weeks
  2. do NOT use pull ups for day time naps or anythin short of a 2 hour journey
  3. night training is a wholey seperate issue

Final tally for day 2:

Wee on floor 2

Wee in potty 2 (one went a bit on floor but am
counting it as he came running to tell me)

Poo in potty 1

So much better than yesterday and we ARE leaving the house tomorrow, don't care where but we are going !

melsy · 12/04/2006 22:15

Eeeekkk 1st trip out tommorow , as have hospital appt 1st thing, will be armed with tons of knickers , nappy sacks, and bottoms NO NAPPIES PROMISE !!! Told dh in no uncertain terms do I see a nappy on that girl at all ever during the day. What a waste all that hard work will be otherwise.

Later on is big dinner at grandmas with lots of people , will be interesting to see what happens, especially on the poo side of things.

good luck all for tommorow ! esp alittlebitshy.

wessexgirl · 13/04/2006 00:09

Day 6 for us and it was going so well until bathtime, when I went to remove her knickers...and they were damp...Not WET though, so probably just holding on to it too long? Gah, thought I'd cracked it.

She has been a real PITA today though, very unlike her. Is it potty training, or dh being off sick and an extra audience?

Flum · 13/04/2006 00:23

This is great, sounds like a load of crackheads going cold turkey.

STOP step away from the nappy!
Yeah but... just one
You will regret it
Just one little nappy, snivvle snivvle

Kittypickle · 13/04/2006 08:19

:o Flum. DS is still asleep, knackered from his effort yesterday I think. Ah that will teach me, he has just woken. I've had a cup of tea and think I can just about face this encouragement business.

alittlebitshy · 13/04/2006 09:26

good luck today everyone - esp those (maybe me included) taking a trip away from the house.

snafu · 13/04/2006 10:33

Grin Flum

So far - 2 wees in toilet, 1 accident on living room rug. House echoing to souund of 'Two choccy butty, mummeeeee, pleeeease.'

Am off for late shift at 1pm today so leaving ds in care of his grandma, who will doubtless put a nappy on him as soon as my car pulls out of the drive...

alittlebitshy · 13/04/2006 10:50

nothing so far as per yesterday, so expecting something in next half hour. please let me get it in potty not on my carpet Grin

alittlebitshy · 13/04/2006 11:32

still nothing. is this normal? is she showing me she doe sin fact have bladder conrol until it gets so desperate she just has to let go. i reckon she does a big wee in her nappy just before she gets up....

but it's frustrating not kowing which way today is going to go and i'm convinced that every time she moves she's going to piddle on the floor Wink

looneytune · 13/04/2006 12:00

I've just lost the plot. I'm sorry if I'm expecting too much but ds went on potty loads this morning as per my request and kept saying nothing yet mummy so I praised him for trying. Well I just asked him to try again but he was upstairs and said he didn't need to go so I thought oh well, try again when he's downstairs and within a minute, he's pee's on the floor.

Is he ready for this? Am I expecting too much? I've left him upstairs and told him he can stay wet as I'd asked him and he said he didn't need to go so this is to teach him a lesson.

Is this wrong??? :(

Day 6 BTW

Passionflower · 13/04/2006 12:20

Day four and we have reached lunch time with no accidents! And she is taking herself to the potty to try fairly regularly.

It is bound to go pear shaped this afternoon though Grin.

Chin up looneytune, they won't be 100% reliable for months. Even school aged children have the occasional misshap. Smile

Passionflower · 13/04/2006 12:22

And sorry, yes I do think leaving him wet because he had an accident is wrong. If you think he might need to go you need to fetch him to do it. He's not going to want to leave off whatever interesting thing he's up to to sit on the loo/potty.

looneytune · 13/04/2006 12:31

only thought leave wet as cod mentioned something about letting them know how it feels and they will learn??? didn't mean for long time, just not to change him immediately iykwim.

i suppose yesterday got to me too much as every wee was on the floor/sofa and nothing in potty and feel same will happen today.

maybe i should be silent about the potty and not put him on it???

looneytune · 13/04/2006 12:33

also think i'm comparing to mindee who was perfect very quick so it made me wonder if he was ready.

alittlebitshy · 13/04/2006 12:56

(((looney))) thi was how i felt yesterday!!!

good luck!

looneytune · 13/04/2006 13:02

I've just majorily reassured ds about the whole thing (and feel bad for being so worked up inside).

I'll try and relax a bit. Good luck to the rest :)

looneytune · 13/04/2006 13:23

:) I just tricked him by saying 'i've got cool idea, come in kitchen, sit on potty and we'll pretend to mindee that you've pushed a spider out of your bottom' (sorry but suits his sense of humour Grin) and instead of shouting 'xxx, i've got a spider in my potty' he shouted 'mummy, mummy, i did it!' RESULT Grin

melsy · 13/04/2006 13:51

sooooo mmmmmmmmmmm dh is doing afternoon nap prep and has stated shes only sleeping if in pull ups, Ive no fight left, its just that after poogate in the bedroom , I dont think I can face a poo covered bed and duvet. Surely its the same as night time bed time with putting something on??????

melsy · 13/04/2006 13:52

weheeyyyyyy looneytunes , you go girl, Im gonna have to use a similar tack for poo, as she thinks theyre snakes, good idea!!

alittlebitshy · 13/04/2006 14:02

so far just one wee in the potty when i put her on. went out for about an hour (woohoo), put her on potty at esco but nothing, and still nothing. this child has either fab bladder cntrol or v v strong will power about not being potty trained.

on plus side - it's past 2pm, still on 1st pair of knickers and no accidents!!!!

Kittypickle · 13/04/2006 14:07

Glad it's getting better looneytune. Things are going pretty well here. DD has taken over for me as they both get sweets when there's a hit. She is plying him with water to get him to go more.

So far one in potty under my supervision
One on floor next to potty when I was upstairs
One half on floor and half under potty under DD's supervision
One poo on floor under potty as he stood up too early under DD's supervision

So she is clearly much better at this then I am. We made it to the corner shop and back with no mishaps.I know I am going to get shouted at by Cod now but I have ordered some \link{http://www.angeltots.co.uk/trainerpants.htm\Bright Bots Trainer Pants} as they look like normal pants but can absorb just a little bit of wee. He is starting nursery on Tuesday and he will only have been doing this for a week so I think it might help the nursery staff and hopefully he won't have a clue they are any different to his others.

Kittypickle · 13/04/2006 14:11

alittlebitshy, my DS went 6 hours yesterday with nothing and I felt like losing the plot over it. The good news is that although I was expecting a flood when it happened, it wasn't actually too bad. Can I just tell you all how much I hate carpet, always hated it, now hate it more. Luckily have just had new kitchen floor which is wood so spending a lot of time in the kitchen.
