right

  1. this is for any kid over hte age of 2
  2. imo the best age ie 2 - 2.5
  3. there is NO going bakc
do not start if oyu are going ot poof out
  1. remmeber it is hard work - hence hte training - yes life will be more difficult for a couple of weeks
  2. do NOT use pull ups for day time naps or anythin short of a 2 hour journey
  3. night training is a wholey seperate issue

We've had 1 wee on the floor and a poo, otherwise ok. He was running to the loo when he did both accidents, bless him.

We are braving the outside world this afternoon with pants in situ.

alittlebitshy · 12/04/2006 13:48

3 accidentts. nothing in potty.
am close to tears.

alittlebitshy · 12/04/2006 14:20

Ok - have just started!

Ds (2.8, in Bob the Builder pants, very proud) got up on stepstool and wee'd in toilet Grin Huzzah! Lots of clapping and cheering from me and chocolate buttons for ds.

Have decided to completely bypass potty and go straight to the loo, with a training seat. DS got very excited about the training seat so maybe there is hope he'll be trained before he goes off to university...

alittlebitshy · 12/04/2006 15:11

blimin heck.

literally seconds before i was about to put her on potty we had the hugest gush in (i'm sure) girl history. no sooner had i spent 20 mins cleaning her and floor up, she did a poo, in pants, in corner of living room. better out than in after 3 days but still...

this is not getting any better!!!!!!

Kittypickle · 12/04/2006 15:38

My DS has to be abnormal. There has been one big wee first thing, a tiny one about 10am, then absolutley nothing. I am dreading when all the liquid he has had comes out in a huge deluge. Please let it be on the potty.....

Latz · 12/04/2006 15:47

No dd does the same - loads in morning after a dry night! Then 10 ish and nothing til an accident at 2ish.

Passionflower · 12/04/2006 16:38

Early update today.

wees in pants 2
Poo in pants 1 Sad
wees in potty 2

One of the accidents was actually quite funny. She was bum out and just suddenly started, said wee wee mummy in a shocked voice and it was spurting forwards (think cherub fountain without the willy!)and it came and it came and she just stood there watching it with a shocked expression on her face.

cod · 12/04/2006 17:34

thihk you ar all at a pivotal point now where they will get hte hnag of it

well done

Kittypickle · 12/04/2006 17:49

I find things like that funny Passionflower until I realise I have to clear it up :o

Breakthrough this afternoon when he did a poo in the potty. Also he did a wee and came running to tell me so we caught the end in the potty. Then a final wee just now when he was busy upstairs playing with his garage. So much much better today. Still reckon he has a hump somewhere for storage, 6 hours without a wee, I certainly can't do that !

Latz · 12/04/2006 19:01

Well Day 3.

2 wees in potty this morning then nothing til an accident at about 2pm.

Then after tea she was obviously trying to hold onto a poo so we stuck her on the potty in front of CBeebies and she did a wee and a poo.

Hurray :o

Sure we will have more set backs tomorrow but its so much better than yesterday..
Thanks for all the encouragement so far.

puff · 12/04/2006 19:05

1 accident in pants while out, otherwise fine, went to the loo twice, so not too bad

Latz · 12/04/2006 19:08

Isn't it good when they begin to get it?

I was almost despairing last night and dreamt about wet floors and potties all night!

TopBanana · 12/04/2006 19:08

We've had 1 accident at nursery, no poo but anll other wees in potty and toilet.
Worried about tomorrow, first proper day at home with her!!

melsy · 12/04/2006 19:27

how you doing alittlebitshy, you were sounding quite fed up with it all earlier, any luck today?????

Thankyou for the encouragment cod, much needed after this afternoon , having had a brilliant brilliant morning and most of the day , we found dd upstairs with smeared dark poo all over her carpet in 4 places and her covered in it from bum down, a few tears all around and my sisters bf to the rescue , several wipes later and a bath we all calmed down. Been drumming it in to her since then and asking were do you do poos "in the tooolit mummi" , who do you tell when you need poo "yoooo mummmiii", I hope shes got the message after that drama. PLEASE PRAY, my carpets and my sanity cant take it , Thank gawd I wasnt here alone at the time.

meysey · 12/04/2006 19:28

DS is starting to get the hang of it... BUT how do you move from putting them on the potty/toilet every hour to them remembering it themselves?? or does that bit take weeks?

Heathcliffscathy · 12/04/2006 19:39

day two: one accident this morning, just wee.

two poos on loo as well as wees. one of them was epic (had to turn head away as was shaking with laughter at the earnest effort going into it and the sheer number of plops (sorry tmi)! it was so huge that i think maybe he's been holding in a bit (even tho has done two small ones) over the last couple of days.

thinking about braving an outing tomorrow (or else we'll both go mental)...any ideas about what is a good one?

Heathcliffscathy · 12/04/2006 19:40

also he can't reach to sit on the loo by himself as the step i've bought isn't high enough....any advice on where to get steps up that are actually high enough?

puff · 12/04/2006 19:42

sophable - anything where you know you will be close to good clean loos Grin.

Seriously - that's the way I played it with ds1 and same now with ds2.

I put an old towel on the carseat just in case too and take a couple of changes of clothes, a few pants and plenty of wipes.

Heathcliffscathy · 12/04/2006 19:43

thanks puff :)

puff · 12/04/2006 19:43

one of my steps is from a hardware store - it's not a toilet training step as such and is a bit higher than the one upstairs.

alittlebitshy · 12/04/2006 19:48

feeling rubbish.

1 hit, 5 misses plus a poo miss.

she's getting very worried by it, not helped my me being fish wife, and me feeling depressed by it.

feel is no end.

have promised to take her to tesco for cup of tea tomorrow (5 min walk), but dreading accidents.

she is not telling me, nor is she going when i put her on, nor is she learning form being wet.

i am such a rubbish potty trainer and i feel like crap.:(

sorry to be the thread whinger:(

looneytune · 12/04/2006 19:48

NEED HELP :(:(

Day 5 not at all good after feeling positive after yesterdays improvements.

NOTHING in potty
4 wee accidents
1 poo accident

I WILL NOT GIVE UP!!!!

I think it's harder due to childminding but I'm not sure why. Too much fun and forgets (get excited with different kids around) or feels a bit on display. I'm also very busy all day sorting everyone's needs that I don't get to watch out for it as much as at the weekend (also added problems with one mindee trying it on all the time as doesn't like attention he's getting)

ANYWAY..........I really need some advice.

Shall I go back to insisting he sits on potty to help him achieve a result?

Potty has been in lounge - do I move to kitchen so he can sneak off without a big fuss (on display) and shout if has result?

Any other tips????

BTW, problems with legs being red and blotchy as skin reacts as soon as wees on it so he gets upset - anyone else got this?

PLEASE HELP :(

Passionflower · 12/04/2006 19:49

Kittypickle, wooden floors allow me to take a relaxed view about accidents Smile

DD did however wee on the sofa this evening and I didn't laugh about that! Went right through the seat to the base.

I think she realised mummy was less than impressed because after chanting the "where do we..." chant several times she got on the potty of her own volition and did a poo.

So final tally for the day:

wee accidents 4
poo accidents 1
wees in potty 2
poo in potty 1

cod · 12/04/2006 19:56

alittle bt shy
ONE HIT????
