Bfg, have you tried various soft structured carriers? Ergo, manduca, a mei tai? Ring slings are ok from 4 months, it's lying the baby down in them that can cause suffocation because their head's in their chest - same as car seats.

Pic on it's way, just need to finish this feed...

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 16/12/2012 15:21

Done Xmas Grin

ProtegeMoi · 16/12/2012 16:13

You have to be careful adding freshly expressed milk purple I'm sure you know already but just in case, you can't add the 2oz just expressed to previously expressed milk unless you cool it to the same temperature first and it has to be within the same 24 hours x

We used it as a tester and gave it to him for lunch. Turns out he'll take a bottle fine as long as I'm not in the room! But that's fine because we only need him to do it when I'm at work (one evening per week term time only) and if dp wants to take him for a walk.

Next stop, dummies and self-settling Xmas Hmm

PS there's a pic on my profile of his new hat i made. Looking forward to seeing it poking out the top of the sling Xmas Grin

ProtegeMoi · 16/12/2012 16:33

Aww that's good, my little one still resists the bottle.

She will take it eventually but she has to be pretty starving, now she's on food it's easier though as I feed her before I leave and on my return she has a fruit snack in between to tide her over.

Works well as i'm never gone for more than 2-3 hours anyway.

PS. Just realised who you are as just spotted your stunning little one in his cute new hat on Facebook :) You made a wonderful blanket for my son a while ago Thanks

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 16/12/2012 16:42

Ooh, now I'm intrigued! Am i allowed to know your previous name? I'm hopeless at remembering who's who between here and fb anyway without confusing things further...

Did i nearly buy some nappies off you a week or two back?

KentuckyFriedChildren · 16/12/2012 17:02

LeBFG i didnt rest with my last two really as with dd1 i had ds who was only 5 months when i conceived and with dd2 i had both the other two to walk back and forth to school with etc (that is in the next village which is a 3 mile walk from us) also i had obstetric cholestasis with all 3 from about 25 weeks onwards and that involved alot of hospital appointments- usually 3 per week in Inverness which is about 12 miles from here but as i dont drive it was a two buses/hour long journey each way and so took up alot of time and energy. my fault really for picking such a remote place to live really :o dh has been awesome but he works full time and so isnt always there to do the heavy lifting etc and tbh i have been doing plenty things i probably shouldnt have like moving furniture and lifting massive boxes etc. i have just been lucky the last 2 times and i know plenty of people who have gone full term after having preemies earlier than you so i guess what im saying is its luck of the draw really and you will either go early or you wont.

ProtegeMoi · 16/12/2012 17:05

Oh gosh, been through 101 nicknames since then!

Yes you did, intials RB :)
Have just 'liked' your Facebook pic so that will narrow it down.

I'm hopeless as well with usernames, it was only when I read about the reindeer hat as i'd just seen it in Facebook and thought how cute.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 16/12/2012 17:13

Brew Small (ish) world!

ValiumQueen · 16/12/2012 17:42

Groans... Will be back soon x fluffy hugs to all x

LeBFG · 16/12/2012 18:07

Love the photo Pidj - Pidj chick is sooo cute. You're so talented! I have an ergo carrier - will it do for newborns?

Wise words Kentucky. I'm wondering if all my lolling around is really going to make any difference. The midwife gets hysterical about the braxton hicks (I'm in France where they seem to sign people off work at the first sign of early-ish BH activity and deem cars the work of the devil Xmas Hmm). I live in a remote place too - the hospital is 40mins away, one of the biggest downsides to being isolated. But I do drive (even though I'm not supposed to) so it is easier.

Brew to all (wish it was wine).

Notgrownupinmyhead · 16/12/2012 20:29

Hello new peeps!

Ive liked yer Rudolf pic WinkWink

Ive still got the 'ahem' and its the colour of baby poop!!! Oh joy.

Just finished strip washing the nappies and the cloth stuff in the drier and pockets on the maiden.

I cant open the BLS on me phurne so one shall fire up the craptop tomorrow and have a larf.

Daves just puked on me and laughed. Thanks son. Cant believe he's 13weeks. I was speaking to someone who had their baby the same week and shes weaning hers already as shes having 6oz every 2 hours in the day!

Im doing the little lamb booster thing too instead of the microfibre and getting a similar wear time as you! Maybe a bit less. Not tried more for overnight yet.

How often do you all stripwash?

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 16/12/2012 21:18

Wow Pidj the hat is fantastic! He is gorgeous too.

I've also got LL bamboo boosters, use them in my mio solos which come with a microfibre insert and only getting 2 hrs wear! Maybe need to try 2 boosters not just 1. Was impressed with my MioSolos for about the first 2 months, then had leaks, then added boosters , now getting leaks again Sad and Angry as they were £11 each and I have 10! V annoying.

Haven't heard of holdens landing are they custom made ones?

notgrown I've been using cloth for 6 months and never strip washed! Argh - do I need to?

Notgrownupinmyhead · 16/12/2012 21:27

Yah. I try and do it everymonth but forget. Its to deep clean and get rid of any detergent build up etc. everytime ds2 teethes they start to honk Shock and he gets a rash with it. Im so glad Ds3 is still having pre-weaned poops!! Grin

You're all making me want more children!!!!

Notgrownupinmyhead · 16/12/2012 21:40

Biscuit, stripping may help improve the absorbency too. Wink

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 16/12/2012 21:45

Bfg, you'll need a newborn insert or s/he'll swim :)

Thanks
ValiumQueen · 16/12/2012 22:02

Also following BLS here. Very funny thread. Thanks for link.

DS has started saving up his poos to a couple of times a day, and we have had leaks from sheer volume.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 16/12/2012 22:13

Are you all ok VQ?

ProtegeMoi · 17/12/2012 02:26

Holdens Landing DO make custom made but most aren't. They make fitted nappie and are famous for their bedbug and bedbug plus fitteds which are THE most absorbant night time Malloy ever.

Even my 8 year old can't out pee them after 12 hours!

They are an American company but their night nappies crop up a lot on preloved.boards, especially CNT.

ProtegeMoi · 17/12/2012 02:27

Stupid autocorrect!

Malloy should say nappy, how on earth did it get Malloy?

Notgrownupinmyhead · 17/12/2012 09:41

That sounds very interesting PM! I'll have to look into those. Smile

PP what are you using for your prefolds?

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 17/12/2012 10:04

Jut plain old Cotton Bottoms. They seem to be plenty for a new born, although I'm only using the small ones so far...

ValiumQueen · 17/12/2012 10:06

notgrown I think we are almost ok. DS had a horrid coughing fit last night and is very bunged up today. DD1 is not well either. I just hope he does not re-catch it.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 17/12/2012 10:16

Ffs. It doesn't stop does it? Hope you're all better bloody quick! Bet your fooked. HmmHmm

Thank Pp. when chubby pants grows out of the TB I need to find ways of wee proofing the pockets. The wraps are huge will just need to find something to go underneath.

Got ds1's Nativity tomorrow. I might cry!

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 17/12/2012 21:50

VQ hope things keep getting better, hang in there, when im getting stressed my mum always tells me that if dd and I are both still alive at the the end of the day, it's been a successful day Xmas Grin And so far you're all still here, so well done!

Has anyone tried Bum Deal nappies? Heard about them on one of the fb groups as a recommendation for a cheap wet bag and their patterned pocket nappies look cute and have had good reviews on a couple of sites. I'm thinking of trying one. £6.99 I think with microfibre inserts, how does that compare to Alva on eBay?

Enjoy the nativity notgrownup! Aaahhh bless him. How old is he?

Off to bed now (with book and biscuits Xmas Smile)as dd has been asleep since 8.30! and only woken up once already
