Ive got food poisoning. So has DH. But we cant think what from as the kids dont have it and they mostly eat what we do so can only think its from cake, chocolate or coffee.

It hurts! But on the plus side I might lose a few pounds! I was 14-16 pre preg and am now 20. Its only a couple of stone but my god its in the middle and ive still no arse!!!!!!!

Ds2 had a blood blister on his bum cheek that has burst so im keeping an eye on it. Could it be the wee? Hes teething and has me up all night banging his head on his cot. Thank chuff new boy sleeps!

Were camped out upstairs so i can be near the toilet.

Non of us are getting dressed today!!!

We're ok, just getting used to this parenting malarkey! Dp's just gone to meet a mate for coffee, the mate has some weekend work for dp so it's kind of an interview too. The work is abroad, which sucks, but is very well paid, which rocks. It'd be brilliant for dp too, his soul is slowly being sucked out by his current job and he needs the ego boost of something that matches what he's worth.

R is snuggly and squishy and fab Xmas Grin

Notgrownupinmyhead · 15/12/2012 14:19

I love squishy little people.

Mums has taken the eldest til 2moro. The cramps are like early labour. Dh says to have some of his Meptid but Im not, ill try and stick it out.

What does your dp do for his work? Sounds like the menfolk are feeling really down on their current jobs. Dh is too.

So sorry to hear about the food poisoning Notgrownup. Pretty awful just before Xmas when there's so much to do.

Glad things are going well Pidj - you're clearly a natural mum Xmas Smile. I think you're bf aren't you? How's that panning out?

I wonder how VQ and Biscuit are doing?

Some of the reason we live where we do was job disillusionment. Sometimes you have to follow your heart to be happy.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 15/12/2012 19:25

IT/sales but he has chavvy twat colleagues and a culture of bullying. He finds it very hard to keep his mouth shut to bullies which just adds to his frustration Xmas Sad

I'm good at filtering advice and taking the sensible stuff, does that make me a good mum? Still ebf and 4 weeks on Monday so I guess it's going ok! Still in cloth nappies too, against all the dire predictions

Hurrah for breaks, dp took R out in the mei tai for an hour earlier, I had a bath in peace Xmas Grin

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 15/12/2012 20:16

Hi all, we're ok too, plodding along! Feeding baby biscuit to sleep as I type yes she is 16 months and looks about 3yo sigh

Poor Notgrownup food poisoning is vile. Grin at you for managing to look on the bright side though! Glad your mum can help out. Hope you are better soon and tucking into the speculoos again soon Smile

PP I think a good advice filtering ability is very important, even now I sometimes have to slap myself round the face occasionally and remind myself that just because babies x y and z are alleating/sleeping / whatever in a particular way, doesn't mean we have to too...

Think I will just use disposables for Xmas visits, can't be doing with carrying round bags of wet nappies, clean or dirty. I've got a mini-stash of some terry squares and a couple of old tots bots cotton fitteds I can use at my mum's if I feel like so it will really just be while we're at in laws. I do love all the relatives but wish we were just staying at home on Christmas day, just us. Next year! Even though I'm 30, married and a mum, cooking my own Christmas lunch seems really 'grown-up' - how daft am I ?!

Notgrownupinmyhead · 15/12/2012 21:51

Bath in peace? You cant even poop in peace in this house without a little voice "muuuuuuuuum a neeeeeed help". Grumble. Were your ears ringing with the silence?

Still cramping really bad but not been since before 6pm. Im hoping its not Norovirus and the kids dont get it.

Well, PP it sounds like you've this parenting thing sorted and sounds like you're doing a fab job!! Smile

Bullying - no need. And working with chavs makes it even worse!! Twat is a great word. Does dp look quite the modern dad with R in the mei tai? Ive seen a sling wearer round here! Excellent.

How long have you been in France BFG?

Biscuit, theres nowt wrong with channeling your inner Nigella. Ill attempt to help mum with Christmas Dinner but we'll see.

Im so glad were not the 'my child was doing x by this age, is yours' kinda people. Whose babies all slept through from being born, eating roast dinners with a knife and fork by the age of 9m etc. Do any of you know people like that? I saw once 'baby led sleeping' its so true!

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 15/12/2012 22:08

It was wonderful and awful in equal measures. I'll try and fb a pic at some point, my friend wants one for her sling consultancy website to show it's not just for girls. She reckons my dp is suitably macho... Need to get one of R wearing his Rudolph hat i finished today too Xmas Grin

Twat, knobcheese, cuntweasel... All appropriate for his colleagues!

Love love love "baby-led sleeping" can't wait to use it next time someone asks the stupid question. Must practice my haughty sniff, as if it's the latest poncy parenting trend!

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 15/12/2012 22:21

I saw the baby led sleeping thread - loved it - us to a T! Think it's in Classics , might go and have a read and a giggle now.

Grin to having a poo in peace - babyb comes inthe bathroom with me and always tries to look down the loo, shouting 'Mummy wee! Poo!' Nice.

KentuckyFriedChildren · 15/12/2012 22:37

i would like to join in please ladies!! dd2 (hereafter known as squish) is in rusies and i currently have nobody around that is using them too. i know plenty who have, but their dcs are all potty trained now and so they arent all that interested in talking fluffy bottoms not that it stops me :) squish is a teeny weeny 6lb4 now (4wks old) and looks heavenly and extremely fat-bottomed in her teenyfits bless her.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 15/12/2012 22:41

6lb7 and 4 weeks on Monday Xmas Grin currently in a btp ebay cheapie stuffed with a prefold and with the front panel winged out to make the legs fit!

Congratulations Thanks

Linky please Biscuit

KentuckyFriedChildren · 15/12/2012 23:10

were you early as well pidj? squish was 5 weeks early. due on tuesday :o congrats to you too!!!

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 16/12/2012 00:57

Only 11 days, due a week last Friday Xmas Smile

Alamaya · 16/12/2012 01:00

Ok question with a bit o background ladies.

DD - 19 Months. Average/chunky monkey sized.
DS - 6 weeks. Skiiiiinny teeeny baby. Just gone into newborn clothes.

TTC3 in 2 years. DD took IVF after 6 years ttc and DS natural suprise.

Heres my question can anyone recommend the cheapest way to try some cloth nappies. We are obviously spending loads on sposies. BUT i dont want to spend a lot of money as baby number 3 may never happen.

Have tried pop ins before on DD and they worked ok. Tried Itti's SIO but they were so tight on her even a medium and that was when she was only a few months old.

Any advice would be fab and i would ideally like nappies i could cross over between the two of them xx

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 16/12/2012 03:27

www.thenappylady.co.uk/

Or look for a local nappy library?

ProtegeMoi · 16/12/2012 03:39

alamaia Go for the Ebay cheapies, not the best but do what they should and it's a cheap way of trying them. Plus they are one size so can be used for both your children by just adjusting the front snaps.

If you get on with them you can than look into other brands and see what you like.

I've been using cloth since birth on my 7 month DD and have just found this thread btw Smile

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 16/12/2012 09:16

I've got cheapies - Alvababy and Babyland can be wiggled to fit my 4wo on the smallest setting

LeBFG · 16/12/2012 10:19

Wow, big hello to the newcomers. Nice to meet more fellow fluffers.

Congrats on your little squish Kentucky - she is a good size!. My DS (now a 10kg+ 21 mo) was born early too (33 weeks) but we weren't as organised as you. Fluff only really became a feature from about 2 months even though I'd bought a stash beforehand.

Lovely story Almaia - congrats on your little miracle too. I never got on with the itti bittis. I would either invest in nappies with good resale value so you can recoup the cost later. Or buy ebay cheapies/used fluff. Or a mix of the two of course. Probably not a good idea to buy a bundle though.

Hi Protege. What fluffs are you using?

KentuckyFriedChildren · 16/12/2012 11:14

those cheapies- are they any good? my friend wants to try some and you can get 7 babyland nappies on amazon for £18 delivered inc inserts. her boy is 1 (just) but is a beast and fits into 2+ clothes. if they are worth buying i will get some for her as she cant afford even that right now. LeBFG all of mine have been preemies- ds was earliest at 32 wks, then dd1 at 34 now my wee squish at 35. ds didnt get into newborn til he was 6 months bless him and i didnt start the fluffies til 8 months with him. i am not as organised as i seem since i already had them in the loft :o

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 16/12/2012 11:23

Hi new fluff fans!

For trying out fluff I did the Fill Your Pants try cloth for £10 where you get 6 different nappies to try for 3 weeks, I found it really good for getting a feel for them. I mainly use bumbles by easy peasy nappies which I love, they fasten with a nippa and fit my DD well, she was pretty chunky when we started with cloth but now runs round and has slimmed down a bit but they still fit well. Havent tried eBay cheapies but Alvas seem v popular on here!

Just going to try and find the link for you PP...

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 16/12/2012 11:29

Baby Led Sleeping

Here it is PP! And anyone else whose little bugger darling is merrily carving out their own sleep routine. Without much actual sleep.

DH has taken baby biscuit out for a walk/ play with some friends and I am home alone - utter bliss - going to hang out my nappy wash and then have a bath....

ProtegeMoi · 16/12/2012 11:50

I use everything and anything.

Mostly fitted nappies such as dunknfluff, weenotions and holden's landing as my little one can pee for England but also pockets for when OH changes her. I love Itti's, such a snug fit which is great as i'm not a fan of the huge bum look.

I have a real thing for 'pretty' nappies and have a lot of custom one's.

Just got an amazing Lilo and Stitch one from Australia, it's amazing but cost way too much Blush

Kentucky The ebay cheapies are great, didn't fit my little one until she was 12 weeks or so as she was very small and the legs used to leak but now she's bigger they are great.

The microfibre inserts they come with are not up to much so I buy them without inserts and then buy packs of Little Lamb bamboo boosters (also cheap on Ebay). 2 bamboo boosters in a pocket does my little one 5 hours and she is a heavy wetter so you could get away with one in each really as well.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 16/12/2012 11:59

Babylands stuffed with prefolds are bombproof on ds but i have to tug the loose ends up to get a good fit. They've got a lot of room for growth.

O/t but I've expressed 2oz/60ml. Is that loads or should i add to it in a bit? The bottle holds 5floz...

LeBFG · 16/12/2012 12:46

From memory they used to feed newborn DS with 50ml every three hours by the time he was ready to start bf. Dunno if that helps Pidj?

My DS wanted to but never could get his head around slings. He's very tall (6'4) and DS would sit too low on him, squashed into his chest. Any recommendations for man-slings? The ring-slings looked much more appropriate but they haven't got a great saftey record have they?

Kentucky - I'm currently 27 weeks with a daughter. I'm hoping to go a few weeks longer this time. I coped pretty OK the first time around in hospital, but not sure how I would do a second time tbh Sad. I'm on full-time sofa duty getting fat Grin. Did resting help you get further along in the second and third pg?

LeBFG · 16/12/2012 12:56

Oh, and Pidj, photo of rudolf hat please [fmsile]
