Fantastic 40+ Mums

Mum of 2, DS1 nearly 4yo and DD2 almost 11 weeks. I hope to find here advices from experienced mums so that I can avoid mistakes... I made some with DS1 and my life sometimes is hell, it is hard to unlearn wrong behaviour, so hard.
At the time being, DD2 is a very sweet baby, she is easy to decipher, cries are always related to some kind of discomfort and I managed to learn what they mean, or almost. Only one issue with her ATM is that she rejects bottle feeding even with expressed milk. I'd like to be able to escape a bit from the house to get a haircut or a facial. And I am sure DH would like to feed her sometimes too.
I struggle a bit more with DS1, who is usually a good boy, energetic, happy and loving. But after school, getting him to take his bath is a battle and falling and staying asleep all night are big issues. The problems did exist before but now with the recent arrival of his sister, the intensity has increased. Or maybe they are the same but to me they seem bigger and need to be addressed quickly so that I can look after both without raising my voice.
All advice are welcome. I need help here.

Also I'd like to invite all the graduates from the Fantastic 40+ Mums to be thread to join. You have been truly fantastic and so supportive during my pg. I hope to be able to keep on sharing with you this wonderful parenting adventure.

Goat, some people have no idea of what childbirth is. Don't pay attention.
Went to pick up a leg of lamb, I did not realise how big that is... City girl ! I think we will have enough until next xmas....

A very merry Christmas to all of you and babies. Wish you a peaceful night, full of joy, light and love.

bytheseaside · 24/12/2012 11:21

yes, a very happy Christmas! thanks everyone for making me laugh and generally feel better through my pregnancy and first few scary wonderful months of being a mum x

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 25/12/2012 02:20

Midgetm · 25/12/2012 08:05

Happy Christmas old birds. Hope nobody shoves a lemon up our bums and roasts us. in true form DD has an awful cold and DS just puked all over me! Grin

knottyhair · 25/12/2012 11:59

Merry Christmas everyone! Rosa is napping, after throwing up most of her milk (I think the bouncy chair may have been on too vigorous a setting Xmas Grin), DP and DS are playing on DS's new X-box game, I've had a sherry (mandatory) and DP is cooking emergency Christmas lunch of chicken pot-roasted with garlic. We were meant to be going to SIL's but they're still getting over a flu virus and we didn't want to take a chance. My family are coming tomorrow. Hope you lovely ladies all have a wonderful day xx

littleredmonkey · 25/12/2012 15:09

Merry crumble ladies. Baby monkey was spoiled rotten. Everyone bought him a gift so lots of toys. I am not cooking going to mil. So no washing up. Horray!

Hope everyone is having a good day. I have baby monkey sleeping on me in his new teddy bear outfit xx
Hugs to all

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 25/12/2012 21:08

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
A nap for an hour or three!

Xmas Smile

Hope you had a good one.

blueblackdye · 25/12/2012 21:57

Goat, this is a true xmas pressie !
LRM, can we have a pic of baby monkey with his outfit, please ! Anastasia has a bear all in one outdoor suit.
Midget, well, puke is a form of love... I always say that to myself when Anastasia covers me with it !
Knotty, good choice, really, DS shared his germs with all his family, we have been coughing and sneezing for a week, thanks God Anastasia has a milder version.
Stayed home, had some friends over for a buche de Noel, DH and DS went out for dinner with them and brought back lamb kofta, that was heaven !
Good night every one

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 09:33

Marking place. Not caught up. Tired. Miss you x

blueblackdye · 28/12/2012 09:39

VQ, it is hectic in my household too. DS nursery is closed, DH is at work, have 2 kids full time, and family visiting, have not had shower for 3 days.... We miss you too. How is J doing ?
Hope everyone had a lovely xmas. We did not do much in this weather. Very glad neighbour downstairs is away, DS being very noisy, dropping toys on woodfloor.
Will turn 42 in the new year. Nit sure will celebrate birthday. Would rather catch up on sleep !
Love to babies and fantastic Mums

BadMissM · 28/12/2012 09:54

bbd Never mind, you won't be as old as me. Will be 46 before baby is born. Midwife asked me date of birth about 93 times as if I had got it wrong....

Midgetm · 28/12/2012 12:57

I feel very lazy. Still at PIL's and not really lifting a finger. Just drinking sherry and feeding. Hmm

bytheseaside · 28/12/2012 13:14

hello! so tired, but has been relaxing xmas at home, up all night but sleeping all morning every day ... actually managed to make xmas dinner! x

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 28/12/2012 13:37

Hello everyone, I join the knackered crew... With the change of routine sleep is a distant memory. But best Christmas present ever, BG rolled over on his own today! My little prem!
Honestly though, has he not read the books?? He rolled back to front first...

More later, hope everyone is recovering from Xmas excesses.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 15:30

Caught up with a skim, so apologies if I have missed anything. Just have to say goat what a stupid thing for PIL to say.

J is almost better. Cough still bothersome at times. 9 weeks old and 2 hours is pretty good for sleep so I am very tired. Girls are both off for 2 weeks, and weather is shit, so it is hard here.

I have a Ewan who has yet to work his magic. Feeding still frantic until midnight, so I wonder if it is growth spurt going on longer due to illness.

bytheseaside · 28/12/2012 16:02

vq oh, that is indeed very hard. i have felt just so much better going from 2-3 hours sleep a day to 5-6, it WILL get better, but it is shocking while it lasts, you have all my sympathy

goat hurrah! what a clever boy!

badmissm that's rude - or maybe she just couldn't believe you weren't 30?

bbd i can relate on the shower front! best xmas present was a vertically very long hot shower:)

midget pil sound marvelous

lrm how's things?

bytheseaside · 28/12/2012 16:04

vertically? very, obviously. but i was vertical too

littleredmonkey · 28/12/2012 18:38

Hey gang.
VQ. Sorry u r having a rough time honey. Anyone to help you? girls back at school next week? Does hubby help u at night?

Bythesea. Glad you are getting more sleep

Midget. I have this vision of you on a sofa feeding liittle midget then a tipple of sherry or two haha. Duvet draped over you. Lucky lady
Goat. Wow go baby goat. How many weeks is he? I haven't put baby monkey on his front yet on the floor or crib. He has slept on me. Did u try him on his front or dud he just roll back to front? He is a clever little soul. Bm is chatting up a storm this last week and he is getting better in the day having naps and not on me. Bless him night he sleeps two hours then nearly four then two ish so not bad
Badmis cheeky midwife oh well probably
jealous as she see u r still getting some loving haha.
Bhb. Oh shower wise so can relate. Worse then that I managed two weeks and did not wash my hair. I am so sexy I dont know where to start

God help me next week ladies. I have to lose this weight I have put on. Not been on my scales for months. So shitting it if it says 17 stone. Oh well own fault. Yes midget no more dusting x trainer. No more carbs or sugar for weeks and weeks. Worried with sleep and stress of new baby might be hard but I lost 6 stone before. Stopped smoking so I am going to give it a go plus can't afford to buy a whole new wardrobe

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 20:00

LRM I started a thread today for new mummies with wibbly tummies - sorry cannot link. You are welcome to join. There are lots of us already, with varying amounts to lose.

Girls off next week too. My mum helps, but she is old and is driving me potty at the moment. DH has been more helpful the last few nights. Last night I woke him as I was at breaking point. Just taking DS for 10 minutes helped.

littleredmonkey · 28/12/2012 20:37

Glad u r getting some help VQ. Love to join new thread. Where is it honey?

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 20:42

Click on 'all topics' at the top, then scroll down to 'in the club' and it is in the 'big/slim/whatever section. Or you could do a search for my recent posts.

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 28/12/2012 23:56

vq hope the feeding calms down soon, that is so hard - I remember it well... And you are onto wobbly tummies as well already? Wow... I shall come look yu up on the other thread. My c-section tum has its own postcode.

seaside yay for more sleep and delicious vertical showers.

lrm BG is five months but three months adjusted so doing well. You should have seen the look on his face, he didn't know what the heck had happened. Isn't it lovely when they get chatty. Is Dylan smiling too?

badmissm the mum in the bed next to mine in hospital was a 51 year old who had conceived twins naturally...

midget sherry and sofas, it's a hard life... Xmas Smile glad you are finally getting a bit of r&r.

After a couple of hours of protesting at going to bed -"but I'm not tired!!"- BG collapsed on me and was out like a light till this feed. Cross fingers for a few hours till next one.

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 29/12/2012 06:19

Oh and bbd I think you are still a spring chicken... Xmas Smile

littleredmonkey · 29/12/2012 07:10

Morning ladies.
Goat. He is smiling up a storm. And if u blow raspberryes on his belly I get extra smiles. The chatting is lovely. Funny but lovely. He has just woken from 11 hours sleep. Two sessions of feeding at 11 and four just got him on the boob and he is a sleep. He let me have 9 hours sleep! !! I feel funny to be this awake. Boobs about to explode. Bet he does not sleep again tonite the same.
