Fantastic 40+ Mums

Mum of 2, DS1 nearly 4yo and DD2 almost 11 weeks. I hope to find here advices from experienced mums so that I can avoid mistakes... I made some with DS1 and my life sometimes is hell, it is hard to unlearn wrong behaviour, so hard.
At the time being, DD2 is a very sweet baby, she is easy to decipher, cries are always related to some kind of discomfort and I managed to learn what they mean, or almost. Only one issue with her ATM is that she rejects bottle feeding even with expressed milk. I'd like to be able to escape a bit from the house to get a haircut or a facial. And I am sure DH would like to feed her sometimes too.
I struggle a bit more with DS1, who is usually a good boy, energetic, happy and loving. But after school, getting him to take his bath is a battle and falling and staying asleep all night are big issues. The problems did exist before but now with the recent arrival of his sister, the intensity has increased. Or maybe they are the same but to me they seem bigger and need to be addressed quickly so that I can look after both without raising my voice.
All advice are welcome. I need help here.

Also I'd like to invite all the graduates from the Fantastic 40+ Mums to be thread to join. You have been truly fantastic and so supportive during my pg. I hope to be able to keep on sharing with you this wonderful parenting adventure.

Thank you bbd and if you could pray to the goddess of the underground too for the right kind of snow, that would be great!

Midgetm · 17/01/2013 18:54

Even if the snow hits I should still be able to make it as not too far from kings cross so see you ladies tomorrow.

Ladies, I'm so sorry, I'm just not going to be able to make it tomorrow. DS has been skipping all sleep.... and I, quite frankly am knackered and up to my eyeballs in stuff to do.... plus there's the snow.... I'm sorry! I would have loved to come, but just don't fancy being tired, grumpy company and getting frozen through. Hope you will forgive me, and have a fabulous time. Have a glass of champers for me. Smile

Sorry too that I have been a bit absent from the thread. Really not getting a break from DS, but hopefully will get it sorted soon. I do at least feel every morning that perhaps it will be a better day!!

Catch up soon! FF xx

Sorry I have been AWOL. Will now attempt catch-up. Still not much sleep here, and J had his second lot of jags today and is not happy at all.

While DS is snoring I took the opportunity of setting up a new thread: here. There's room for 12 more posts after this, then we need to relocate.

Laters, ladies. FF xx

VQ, poor J, bronchiolitis and now jabs, poor you. Thinking of you all the time. Hugs to both of you
FF thank you for the link Wink. Hope you have a better day tomorrow too. Don't worry, there will be other meet ups, whenever you feel better and weather more clement ! Take care

Just finished catching up. Sad to hear of other poorley babies with jags. I think it affects them all differently. J was fine with his first set but has been very sad, indeed screaming blue murder tonight. In bed now cuddling him. It will be a longer-than-usual night I fear.

Hope the meet is not scuppered by the snow.

Evening - popping in to say a quick hello to all, and hope the meet-up tomorrow goes well, barring any blizzards...

FF - loving the new thread - we have just started a new mums-to-be thread and it is busy, busy, busy! I also made a list of all historical threads with a timeline - amazing how much has been covered since that first post by LRM and how many babies have appeared!

Crapping myself over the snow - DP is not due home til tomorrow eve and is at risk of being cut off by the snow so may have to come home earlier. Also have just started getting pains in my back and a bit in my front area too but not sure if it's the baby pushing around or something else. Would have thought I would have had some sign or substance appear from my nether regions if it was anything significant kicking off, but so hard to tell Confused. Sweep no. 4 on Saturday - my life seems to revolve around the bloody things now and they are still marginally more pleasant than most of the daytime tv on offer

waves to all and appeals for anyone with a tractor to bring it to my house as am probably about to be cut off by snow...

eagle all the best honey x wishing you an orgasmic birth x

Washable wipes rock. I made my own. Well jell of your cheeky wipes. Did you get a good deal? Do you plan on using cloth nappies too? Do not use washable wipes for meconium!

Report
eagleray · 17/01/2013 22:48

Thanks VQ for approving my baby bum polishing kit purchase! It came with special boxes, essential oils and washing bags and cost about £36 off the Evil Amazon. Still hoping to use cloth nappies, but have only got as far buying a couple of packs of disposables and will then see how much shock I'm in when the baby is here and how easy it is to contemplate cloth nappies. Thanks for the meconium tip too Smile

Hope Baby J is feeling a bit better now after VQ cuddles

PS - have practised Moby wrapping a toy rabbit tonight. Please somebody reassure me it only went wrong because I used a rabbit and not a baby and because I have a unslingable body at the moment Confused

eagleray Grin for using a moby while still inhabited! That would be like piggybacking twins in top of each other, surely? Though I am sure the bunny appreciated the excitement!

Pleeeeeze tell me this transfer worked...

'Tis like a Kama sutra with 6 metres of fabric!

Well it has snowed, am sat up in bed, toasty warm in a vest top and baby thermometer is glowing blue and says it's 14c - hope my thermostat sorts itself out when baby is here...

Eagle, why are you up so early ? DS woke me up at 6am after Anastasia decided she wanted a feed at 4.30... Going back to bed now if I want to find my way to Kings Cross later

Report
eagleray · 18/01/2013 08:55

BBD - I have snow panic! Have no means of transport now as surrounding streets totally undriveable. Also had to ring DP to warn him as he is 100 miles away and snow heading his way too (may already be too difficult for him to get home).

Hoping baby stays put today - meanwhile, I hope you all get to your meet-up ok!

Hope Midget and Goat arrived safely at home. I am just back myself as decided to pick up DS early from nursery.
