'SAHMS' that have full time childcare or help - a fantastic liberation or downright lazy?

There are lots of mothers down here in Dorset who are (or whose husbands are) well off enough to afford NOT to work. I know a few and they all have full time aupairs or nannies. One of them has TWO nannies - one for each of her children.

It seems to be a matter of pride that you always take the nanny/au pair on holiday to help with your children. Also that the nanny/au pair takes the children to clubs and activities.

OK - I think it is outrageously lazy (and so does dh). What do you think?

God can't believe this is still going-each to his own surely that's all there is to be said?????

Its not my point, wish I'd written well-read books but haven't.

She does say, Enid and ssd, IF at all possible, ie it isn't always. And she doesn't say 'paid help only'. But I can see thats not much use if someone wants unpaid or paid help and can't get it.

Still interesting, because it would NEVER have occurred to me that my family might help with occasional babysitting, for example - they wouldn't, or couldn't.

And I agree with CarolinaMoon about the solitary thing..my entire antenatal group went back to work within the first year. Though tbh, I'd rather leave dd with her p/t nanny (who is a good friend now) for a few hours than with one of them, anyway.

True, Greensleeves...I'd be interested to read those others too. Not proof-seeking, just interested.

stilltrue i think you have the perfect arrangement. Cannot see a thing wrong with it. Enjoy those 3 hours and do something frivolous -like have an indulgent stress-free bit of precious oooh shock horror "ME Time"!!!!!. There, I said it {grin]. Will provide the papier mache sick bowls for those of you so inclined free of charge courtesy of my work place. Actually I'd better not, that's NHS fraud Wink
