2 is fine for some, but some kiddies at 2 are still very immature and you cannot just say that at 2 years of age all kiddies should be potty-trained. For instance, does it not take longer with boys? If you force them too soon it does more damage than good. So Cod, how would you tell these good people if their kiddies are ready or not? Or are all 2 year olds the same?

thanks blueteddy my DD knows when wees and poos, can hold has excellent control. Can sto midstream and occasional dry nights. Will NOT perform on potty or toilet despite all incentives. Will occasionally sit on potty but will not "let go" even if tap running and is desperate. today had a little break through in that she went and sato n the potty a couple of times of her own accord (didn't do anything and didn't do anything when she came off) but maybe its the beginnign of the acceptance!!! In some ways it's not been too much of aproblem because we can go out, the other day went out at 10.00am and came back at 3.00pm she had an hours sleep, never wet herself all that time or poo'd and then within 1 min of being back wee'd ont eh floor!!!! Isn't potty training great!!!LOL

dollybird · 16/02/2006 22:21

Day 1 for me today with DD on her second go at potty training. Three accidents and four successes so pretty good 1st day I think (def better than first time round!!). Have been putting her on the potty every half hour - pita having potty in the lounge again - she had progressed to toilets only last time (maybe that was the problem )

Only one and a half poos in the potty in a month. Last months total was 2 - so it really isn't getting any better.

Wees however are 100%, unless they leak out with a poo.

veuveclicquot · 17/02/2006 03:27

Can I join in with Bobbobbobbbbbingggglanngong?

DD has been dry for weeks and weeks but has a problem with poos after she got constipated and a tear holding poos in the first week of potty training. Now she says 'ow ow' a lot when she wants to do a poo and no amount of bribes will persuade her to use the toilet 'because it hurts'. A nappy doesn't hurt apparently. She has pooed her pants too and it hasn't changed her mind.

bobbybobbobbingalong · 17/02/2006 05:38

Ds doesn't even have a good excuse - he just doesn't seem to be tuned into the sensation and because it's only a one a day event, he's forgotten by the next day.

veuveclicquot · 17/02/2006 09:47

Aaah. But he's a DS isn't he? Having only inherited two DSS after the potty training stage (although to be honest they could both probably still do with some assistance) I only have hearsay, but apparently the boys do take extra effort and sensitivity.

knat · 17/02/2006 10:09

blue teddy she's 2.4 andi feel she's more than ready physically. I don't think she's scared necessarily of the potty because she will sit on it on occasions and she's not impressed with the toilet either even with a pooh bear seat! i think she's quite a determined little girl and will do it when she's ready. i just hope that's sooner rther than later as my carpets can't stand much more~!!!!

messagedeleted · 17/02/2006 17:55

knat ho wmuch weeing herself ahs she down?
haev you offered her fabbo new pants if she goes?
or to get her a specail book to read ont eh loo

or tell ehr she can wee next to you adn you go to theloo too att he same time?

i find poos ratehr unfathomable tbh esp with boys

messagedeleted · 17/02/2006 17:56

sorry how much weeing herself has she donw?

iw onder if she is tired out so thats whyshe doesnt go

every time you go to the loo id take her with you so shes so broed she may as well go too

when you go give yourself a sweet

knat · 17/02/2006 21:35

yes tried all that - she does sometimes come with me but won't sit down. Tried reading and this sometimes works but still won't go. She has great control so doesn't go more than 4 times a day max. Also tried the rewarding me or dh for going the loo - we love it chocolate galore but doesn't seem to make a difference to dd. also she will put a couple of her favourite toys on the potty. so we role play and say what are they doing and she says potty, wee wee. We praise the toy up and "pretend" to give them chocolate and a sticker. We've started stickers for other activities ie brushingteeth, eating dinner nicely etc so not all centred on potty and have said when she goes wee wee in potty she can have a sticker for that too. She's reasonably interested in stickers so hoping thi smight take hold soon!!!! Today she was only a foot away from the optty when she went wee on the floor and poo! I'm not bothered about poos at htemoment just want to get wees sorted and then move on!
