Madwoman, lots of virtual Brew for you. And...let's work this out...30K words in 3 months = 10K per month = 2.5K per week = just over 375 a day, which is about the size of the average chunkily-written paragraph. So that's not too bad, is it? (weak Smile)

I am going to try and do a few paras this afternoon. More Brew, anyone?

madwomanintheattic · 11/04/2012 15:48

If you carry on like that, I might get you to do my stats assignments... Wink

It doesn't sound too bad, when you put it that way, does it? I am a fearful researcher, though, (think George Eliot trying to finish Romola on acid) and am never satisfied that I have read enough to actually write. hence the procrastination.

I boiled water in a saucepan.

You are doing v well, though. What is your paper on?

wildstrawberryplace · 11/04/2012 15:56

also impressed at holo Shock

not so much at you chipmunk Wink

well done on submitting caz

madwoman no kettle Shock that's even worse than having 30,000 words to write Wink

Ah but seriously well done everyone, keeping going is the main thing.

My deadline is today, and I'm having to make use of the grace period and will be working up to midnight I expect. Have done 2/3 of it plus the total biblio and referencing so far, and I have made my notes and chosen my quotes on the text I need to write on tonight so hopefully it will just be a race against the clock rather than banging-head-on-wall trying to think of something to write job.

Can of RedBull and some wine gums should get me through I hope.

Mine is a bit woo, Madwoman Wink Grin. It's on an aspect of the book of Revelation in its historical (Roman Empire) context, which I find really fascinating. I know what you mean about endless reading, though...

More power to your elbow, Wildstrawbewrry! Just think how good it'll feel when you're finished. Redbull, though....not my Brew!

madwomanintheattic · 11/04/2012 16:22

Ooo, woo. I love woo. V niche. Grin I once got a bit bogged down via homer about naked people in trees Wink (it comes up more often than you'd think) and ended up in the bible after catch 22, so I can relate to the slightly off beat. Grin

Am now going to spend the day with that rolling around my head instead of finishing my lit review for a trans project though. I'm vowing to post it to uni on Monday. Wish me luck.

I can't do red bull, strawb. Gives me palpitations and everything. You are on target though! Keep plugging away!

HolofernesesHead · 11/04/2012 16:24

Hmmm...as far as I know, there aren't any naked people in trees in Revelation. Slightly off beat is the way to go! Grin What's your subject?

madwomanintheattic · 11/04/2012 16:32

Started off eng lit a hundred years ago and have ended up in soc research via the military. As you do. Basically I'm just nosy. Blush And if I could get someone to pay me for it, I'd be a squillionaire.

I am now officially procrastinating though, and have spent an extra hour on mn.

Work hard! I need to go and buy a kettle!

chipmunksex · 11/04/2012 18:40

Shock at idea of no kettle.

I have read 1st part of Hannah Arendt, yawn city. I am truly bored stiff of DD306 I don't know what I was thinking, next year something less philosophical-I am really not keen.

I have to write 1x2000 essay 1x4000 essay and I have to prepare to interview for my own job in the next 2 months. Hmm Not to mention looking after dc and going to work.

And I am poorly

Roll on June.

wildstrawberryplace · 11/04/2012 21:58

I submitted. Only got through half a can of Red Bull as well - agree it is the devils piss but I need caffeine in the evenings if I have deadlines and I find coffee keeps me awake too long past bedtime...

2 days of school hols left, then next TMA due next Thursday.

But right now I think I will watch Mad Men on catch up Grin

madwomanintheattic · 11/04/2012 22:41

Woooooo! Well done you! Enjoy...

Sharpkat · 11/04/2012 22:45

Am totally demotivated at the moment Sad have wasted a week and a half.

Only a TMA and an EMA and then I am free until February.

Thinking about cleaning the fish tank tomorrow to avoid studying Blush

winnybella · 11/04/2012 22:47

Hello!

It's so odd to come here and see you all working hard Grin

I pulled out of both modules, it got too stressful with all the other stuff going on in my life. Will be back next October. Am reading lots of books for pleasure now- forgot how it felt.

So, madwoman, who's the worst procrastinator now, eh?

HolofernesesHead · 12/04/2012 09:31

Well done, Wildstrawb!

Sharp, what's a TMA / EMA?

Right, my dc are at the local playscheme today so I'm going to try not to procrastinate too much...hopefully....Wink

chipmunksex · 12/04/2012 11:12

Envy at winny reading any book she likes.

wildstrawberryplace · 12/04/2012 12:15

hey winny! Noticed you weren't around and wondered if you had come to that decision. Are you going to do the same courses next year?

madwomanintheattic · 12/04/2012 14:08

Winny! Grin

Ach, you're still an amateur. Wink when you are on your third withdrawal, come take my crown.... Grin

Seriously, though, you have to do what you have to do . It's hard to bite the bullet and make the decision, but such a relief when you've got your plan in place and agreed. Hope you are managing to sort everything else out, and will be raring to go after the summer.

I might even have finished then!!! no, no, I will have finished then... Grin

craftynclothy · 13/04/2012 10:16

I am masses behind where I should be. I am supposed to have a tutorial tomorrow morning, which I won't be going to because I really need to catch up by reading one and half blocks. I may go to tomorrow afternoon's tutorial despite having done NONE of the reading for that.

The kids are playing up every night. Dd1 is literally screaming for 2 hours when we put her to bed (she's 5 today and is usually good at going to bed) and dd2 has decided she's going to refuse to go to bed until 10pm Angry. I am supposed to be studying in an evening but I can't exactly start at 10pm Hmm

craftynclothy · 13/04/2012 10:17

Oh and I've had toothache for the last week and a half and am expecting the dentists to tell me today that she can't take the tooth out because it's going to just crumble so I'll have to put up with it until a hospital appointment comes through...

GreatEXPATations · 14/04/2012 14:01

tuesday deadline! in nervous wreck mode! incapable of all but last-minute panic: rushing-to-deadline-flatout-caffeine-fuelled-late-nights just as i did for my BA 20 years ago! it is, however, my last masters module assignment prior to dissertation, yay!

GreatEXPATations · 14/04/2012 14:06

anyway, good luck and lots of Brew (..what no vodka emotcion?) to everyone! What a range of courses, philosophy, C19 lit..and me, bloody business - don't mind the "hard" content-laden stuff but currently banging my head with pithy navel-gazing "personal development portfolio", 4,000 words plus appendices..interesting and worthy in theory but v hard to do in isolation, from overseas when not in the workplace..

GreatEXPATations · 14/04/2012 14:07

WHY can't thjey just pass me onto dissertation? I've done all the serious stuff, passed the exams, passed the modules..damn this portfolio...

madwomanintheattic · 14/04/2012 17:23

Lol expat. Same position here. Three thousand miles from uni and working on my tod. And no access to library

That said, the idiocy that was my group work means I quite like being autonomous... Grin

madwomanintheattic · 14/04/2012 17:23

I can do navel gazing, though.... Wink

GreatEXPATations · 14/04/2012 21:00

oh well done you! how did you wangle that?!

i'm 6,000 miles away from my uni..happily good online library access for articles etc otherwise would be buggered as books hugely expensive here/get kicked if imported.

I know what you mean about work groups, quality/commitment seems to vary hugely..feels like some courses are money for old rope sometime (though admittedly not right now at crunchtime..)
good luck with yours..

Meglet · 14/04/2012 21:03

I haven't touched my books in over 2 weeks. I'm doing an openings course so should really pull my finger out or there's no hope of me taking it further.
