OK, so I've finally made the decision, handed in my notice and I'm going to be a SAHM for a couple of years - eek! Tell me the best and the worst I have to look forward to.

I teach secondary at the moment. DCs 5 and 2. Finances should be OK but I might do a bit of tutoring. I'm feeling good about it.

But what is it actually going to be like? Can you tell me best things and worst things please? I feel like I need to prepare myself!

TIA Smile

Nice! Just need someone to use it on now.

I've actually been so pleasantly surprised by people's reactions to this, in RL and on here. It feels like it's really happening now...

One thing I can guarantee...when you look back you will never ever regret it. I've looked back at so many decisions in my life, but that's one I wouldn't have changed for anything.

I am a SAHM and I love it. I only have one DC unfortunately, so I aim to enjoy him while I can and I like others I feel privileged to be able to do so. I do miss my own money, I am a lonely sometimes and it can be tedious. Anyone who thinks SAHMs don't use their brains though, doesn't have answer "Why?" all day everyday!

I use my brains for thinking what to cook all week, balanced, healthy, tasty meals. I think what activities to do with DD, she is 2.6 and very active and outgoing, and when I have time for myself I read as much as I can. But I agree very much with what ichavecheese said about keeping your toe in the water, its just not easy when the DC don't go to schooll. My DD has just started going to nursery two afternoons a week, I thought its good for her to be with other children and not always attached to my hip, and I have been looking around to do some voluntary work one of those afternoons, I want the other one for me!
And I also have been looking for a part time job (because sometimes I get a bit stressed about the money) but I am happy that I haven't found one yet Grin now that the good weather is aproaching.
