Need reassurance from Cod or anyone that's about.
I have been following the Cod method since yesterday without deviation , but ds is still having accidents all the time. He is sitting quite happily on the toilet for 5-10 mins, I know he needs to go but he will wait till after he gets down to wet himself. Will he eventually get this or am I wasting my time?

Nemo1977 · 10/01/2006 18:12

spursmum how old is he? I would have thought after feeling uncomfortable and wet in pants he would get it as my ds hates the accidents.shall have to wait and see what the master says.

update for today is no accidents and no prompts including dry through his napds was obviously very ready for this. Only thing is my sister just asked me to go to town for a few hours tommorow...eeek

spursmum · 10/01/2006 18:23

Nemo, Ds is almost 4 but has ASD. He is coming to me after he has had an accident holding himself wanting to be changed.

Stinkweasel you are Queen of Potties

Nemo1977 · 10/01/2006 18:43

spursmum maybe it will just take a little longer due to it being a big change. Not 100% sure of ASD tendancies but isnt resistence/dislike of change one?

spursmum · 10/01/2006 18:50

DS is quite mild, no major routines, problems, resistances etc Just eating problems (very fussy) and speech and learning difficulties. My ds is quite a social butterfly despite not many words!!

codnotamod · 10/01/2006 18:55

yes i think ( all other thigns normal) that a week fo conitnuous accidens is the norm.
my sorts day was 5 paris of torusers
giev em time

dollybird · 10/01/2006 21:29

Cod, -just re-posting my question now your back!

DD is 2.4 and going back in pants 9/2 all being well (after we've been away for weekend)- she was out of nappies for 4.5 months and had the hang of it sometimes but mostly not and got worse & worse till we gave up on 13/11. She is now (for the last week) sitting on the potty morning, bathtime and between nappies - today she had two wees and a poo on the potty and only wet one nappy! Would you continue with this approach till Feb if you were me? Don't want her to get fed up of the potty, but she asks to wear pants every day! (also can go hours without weeing -5 today)

ponygirl · 11/01/2006 10:53

Hi Cod. I don't think you'll let me join your club as ds2 is probably too old: 2.11 . It's not that I haven't tried, but he's terrified of the potty. And I mean genuinely terrified, not just putting-it-on crying. I tried in September with him every morning going bare bottomed and he was just so scared, wouldn't get off my lap and howled if I put him anywhere near the potty. No accidents though: I'm sure he's ready physically it's just in his head that he doesn't want to do it. I left it til late November then tried again, but the same. I've tried bribery (he'll generally do anything for chocolate) but to no avail. I want to start again next week (he has a stinking cold atm and I'm knackered). Any suggestions?

Beetrootfultoyourself · 11/01/2006 10:59

cod wants me to tell you that her PC has bust so whe won't be on today. Not sure when she will be back.

ponygirl · 11/01/2006 11:14

Aaaargh!

Is this fate telling me to leave it? [Guilty-but-wishful-thinking emoticon!]

Beetrootfultoyourself · 11/01/2006 11:22

ponygirl I don't think coddy like putting off excuses

Bozza · 11/01/2006 12:01

Striaght to toilet ponygirl?

ponygirl · 11/01/2006 13:26

Probably Bozza, but I'm a bit scared to try in case I get the same reaction as to the potty! I'm runing out of options now though! Got to come up with a plan of action for Monday!

puddytats · 11/01/2006 16:25

Hi, have been lurking on and off this thread as started potty training ds, aged 2yrs 3 months since sunday. He has been using the potty when naked for bout 6 months so decided to give it a go

Trouble is I sit him on potty (we have sticker chart rather than jelly tots) and he tries but doesn't go, then 5 mins later wets himself.

Any hints/help?

collision · 11/01/2006 22:35

It's the way all these mums have gone off to buy the equipment for the potty training and now are poised to make the kids wee in a potty!! So funny. You would make a good sergeant major!

codnotamod · 11/01/2006 22:37

arf
tell that to dh

yes ds1 and 2 never used potty so very od frome when ds3 decided he did

codnotamod · 11/01/2006 22:37

colission think tis the mums really who need trainig and their deadlines to be set.

bundle · 11/01/2006 22:40

dd2: yesterday when i was off with her (she has bad cold) - 5 or 6 wees and one poo (hurrah!) on potty - and snow white knickers bone dry all day! day before (at nursery) 2 pairs wet trousers plus one pooey set (that's what the nursery gets paid for cod ). dd has selected potty, loo or - daringly - the loo at the library
