Sorry - you'll have to wait for the Sensei of potty training on that one Orinoco. Well done Nemo's ds. Fantastic!
dd has asked for a pee twice since her nap.then had prompted pee in loo before her bath with me (after she announced thatshe was peeing in the bath shared with dh last night I was taking no chances). Very pleased with progress.
She's out with my MIL tomorrow, but hopefully just being driven from here to MIL's house 20 mins away so will chance it. MIL has bought potty in anticipation.

Cod,
DD is 2.4 and going back in pants 9/2 all being well (after we've been away for weekend)- she was out of nappies for 4.5 months and had the hang of it sometimes but mostly not and got worse & worse till we gave up on 13/11. She is now (for the last week) sitting on the potty morning, bathtime and between nappies - today she had two wees and a poo on the potty and only wet one nappy! Would you continue with this approach till Feb if you were me? Don't want her to gt fed up of the potty, but she asks to wear pants every day! (also can go hours without weeing -5 today)

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2006 22:21

My ds is so far from being ready that he panics if dp or I take our own pants off, let alone his nappy. He flaps around saying "Mummy! Put your pants on! You might do a wee!"

Still confused about the shrimps thing but will let it alone for now. Do you bribe your children to do other things with sweets or is it just toilet-related?

harpsichordcarrier · 09/01/2006 22:24

shrimps franny! you know - those sweets that taste like they are made of foam!

they are probably not your snack of choice

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2006 22:24

Do they do organic shrimps?

lact8 · 09/01/2006 22:25

Hi all, new to this so pls bear with me...22mth son started saying "need wee" all the time then progressed to trying to remove nappy and wee in nappy changing box. took this as sign he's ready to start on potty. problem is he did this 2 weeks after i gave birth (d now 3wks old) and am knackered from breastfeeding her and chasing him. he's got to grips with it really well but will only go on potty if stripped off completely on bottom half. Fine when in house but have been housebound for a week cos too chilly to let him out naked from waist downwards! anyone any idea how I can get hi to sit on potty with trousers round ankles???

harpsichordcarrier · 09/01/2006 22:26

possibly
they would still be very foamy though
they consist of sugar, pink colouring and some sort of gummy slime
they are well worth peeing in a potty for imho

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2006 22:30

Lact8 I am sorry the potty guru is away at the moment (probably spraying her carpet with dettol) but I just wanted to say I like your name!

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2006 22:33

I should really get off this thread before I become overcome by the desire to stir up an anti-potty movement. HC, we need to have a word about your various fetishes including the potty and shrimp thing.

Cheers Franny Who is the potty master? Am desperate!!! On subject of shrimps they are one of the best sweeties ever, on par with their close relation the banana (same foamy stuff as shrimp but yellow and even more sweet) Have already tried bribery with him but using milky stars...if i ever leave the house again I'll buy shrimps and see if they work!

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2006 22:40

Nah, I don't care if other people want to use them but for me they are the devil's toilet. A bloody nuisance, unhygienic, get tipped over / stepped in at every opportunity, washing them out is gross...I will stop there. Leaving them in nappies until child is old enough to use the toilet seems to make more sense to me. I would far rather change a nappy than a set of wee-soaked clothes, which happens all the bloody time when they are training / "trained".

(sorry, worked too long as a nanny changing other people's wee-soaked children so parents could say "she's trained, you know" )

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2006 22:41

You see, you obviously picked the perfect window of opportunity....

lact8 · 09/01/2006 22:48

Will keep eye out for her. Agree with you Franny bout potties being pain, ds keeps picking his up to show me what he's done. much prefer idea of going straight on toilet but how do you catch accidents if at other end of house from toilet when they need to go?
