quick update, ds2 only had one accident today!! ( if you don't count emptying toybox and weeing in there, technically not an accident as no wet pants involved!!!) much better since going straight on toilet. Would say to anyone to avoid potty stage or keep it to minimum if possible. still stripping off but managing to grab him and get him in bathroom about half the time before he can get pants off too. taking him and dd to playgroup in am, going stir crazy in house. any cod's law for trips away from home pls?

Bob is joining this thread. We gave nappies to Santa on Xmas Eve and whilst at home he has done really well. Varies at nursery, but I think this depends on who is working that day and how many times they take him.

Very bad scene on holiday as his potty got stratched and he refused to use it. A week later he revealed that when he wees on his eczema is hurts and so weeing on the scratched potty would hurt the potty. So we put cream on the potty and it's all systems go again.

I only take him at set times of day, because he can hold on for England. Sorry cod but the 15 minute thing just stressed us both out and seemed so pointless when he can hold on and choose to go. So he goes every time we get home from somewhere (can't get him to "perform" before we go, but he seems happy enough to hold onto his wee for 2 hours). He goes after every meal, and mostly he takes himself after we put him to bed.

We are going away for the weekend, so I am trying to work out how that is going to work as he has yet to go on a toilet. No portable potties in NZ.

ohh cod your back...got a quick question, Ds is great at using the potty if he is just wearing underpants etc but if I put trousers over them he has constant accidents. Any tips?

the mums need the training is so right.

My ds was potty trained in 3 days and was dry at night in a week too. I might have to be a mod if I am allowed!!

bundle · 11/01/2006 22:57

nemo what kind of trousers are they? i tend to put dd2 into v easy to pull down (lightish jersey fabric with elasticated waist) ones and she can manage those v well and remember to take them down in time.

MeAndMyBoy · 11/01/2006 22:58

Lact8 lol

Yes please tips for trips away from home needed here.

We have a fold down potty but what's the etiquette for using potties out and about round town?

Nemo1977 · 11/01/2006 22:59

bundle just jog pants and pj bottoms but he just doesnt want to go when prompted he actually held his bladder for 3.5hrs today then i took him to potty as usual he tried but couldnt go pulled up pants and 2 mins later was wet

monkeytrousers · 11/01/2006 23:04

oh god, i've got such alot of catching up to do...

monkeytrousers · 11/01/2006 23:08

my god cod, time to spare? Are you on holiday??!

bundle · 11/01/2006 23:08

please don't prompt every 15 mins, it gives them a hyper stimulated bladder

monkeytrousers · 11/01/2006 23:10

..I just read the thread after posting at first, shocked at second, conciliatory at third..

Nemo1977 · 11/01/2006 23:12

MAMB fold down potty?? am intrigued... i was planning on taking potty that goes on toilet, grabbing him as soon as he starts pulling his trousers down and getting him on toilet. not quite sure it'll be any use if he decides he wants to wee while we're walking to playgroup tho! DS2 just been wearing old pj bottoms round house, (have been hiding him when taking photos of newborn dd cos looks unloved!!) but much easier to pull up than ordinary trousers. Nemo i'd def try bribery to get him to keep trousers on, certainly working with mine

Nemo1977 · 11/01/2006 23:26

lact8 i have the fold down potty too. It is a pottette[sp?] by tomy which has something that pretty much looks like a nappy bag with a sanitary towel in it that you tie up and can replace with a clean one.

bundle · 11/01/2006 23:26

we have that too, took it on holiday and never used it once. the stick on sanitary towels are a hoot though, and make good makeshift sunscreens in car in extremis

MeAndMyBoy · 11/01/2006 23:32

That's the one nemo and bundle. I also have packets of nappy sac's people handed out at the baby show and some really cheap value sani towels to use when I've used up the 3 in the packet.

It may well end up just being a baby gadget that I bought and don't use, but seemed a good idea at the time. time will tell.

like this

lact8 · 11/01/2006 23:33

googling for it now...(have been reading threads on breast feeding too, pumping, nipple confusion etc, worried that introduction of another potty could cause potty confusion

MeAndMyBoy · 11/01/2006 23:34

lol!

lact8 · 11/01/2006 23:40

don't know how to add link, but found this on aurvita.com ....

conventional potty is all well and good but when you?re standing in the queue in the post office with a toddler who suddenly announces that he needs to go right there and then, it can prove difficult to cope with. It?s not so much the problem of whipping the potty out of the bag ? more the task of disposing of the contents once Junior has done the deed!

With the Potette, all such questions cease to be a concern.

What?? Don't think I could stand in post office while DS2 did poo

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 07:57

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 07:59

Nemo1977
welld oen keep the trousers off then when you are at hom or check they are really easily lowered ones

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 08:00

yes the 15 mins is only a rough guide
WELL DONE aall of you you are doing so well!

bobbybobbobbingalong · 12/01/2006 08:31

Personally I think that if they suddenly need to do a poo in the post office queue then they need to still be in nappies.

I have got a folding toilet seat insert for ds. He was quite excited about taking it in his suitcase.

First spontaneous poo (and then another 4) on the potty. The first one he picked up and carried to the toilet - with his hands!

bundle · 12/01/2006 09:46

dry nappy this am, then after breakfast wanted a wee, then two poos on potty
