bobbybobbobingalong (was that right?)

No poo's in 8 days! I hope I got that wrong, that all fine.

If I've read that right, can I suggest a trip up the chemist/doctors for some lactulose to soften it up for when he does go, otherwise the backed-up poo is going to get harder and harder, making it bothersome and maybe painful for him to pass... also if the cycle repeats he will associate the potty with pain, and get really stressed out each time he wants to do a poo, then not want to do it and get consipated again. Its an easy cycle to slip into, but ever so hard to break - my poor neice, the cycle for her was about 2 years, no joke! (SIL fault for being too controlling and completely poo-obsessed - but thats another story!)

Like I said, I hope I read that wrong and that everythings ok, and that all my ramblings will help another person.

kindest wishes
loon xx

Well, what a difference a day makes! Last night I was really close to putting him back into nappies for a few weeks if there was no improvement by the end of the week, but we've had a really good day today. One damp pants this morning and one poo accident, but that's it! He's told me in time, he's gone with prompting (some of the time!) and we even went out in the car to take the other two swimming and he had a sleep, no accidents and he used a toilet outside the home for the first time using our "special seat" . He's been a star! I feel very relieved and reassured that we're finally getting somewhere. Even if we have a bad day tomorrow I feel I know he can do it.

Had a great day today, only one accident whenhe woke up from a nap, other than that all good. He even went on a toilet while we were out, I'm really pleased, he will either tke himself off to the potty and then come and tell me he's been or ask to go to the toilet. He doesn't even mind when I make him go on the potty before we get in the car outside and his poor bum must have been freezing, but he's been very good happy mum here. Thanks for all the tips.

Just to confirm - plenty of poo - just not in potty/toilet. He has done a potty one now, but I think it surprised him!

Ponygirl - I know exactly how you feel coz I was the same. It is those bloody pull ups. I started off using those feel and learn things which added more to the confusion. He's had to learn that it's really horrid to have wee down his legs and on his trousers and although we're still having 1 or 2 accidents a day, he's getting the hang of it since ditching nappies completely (other than at night). I found spending a couple of days at home with him not wearing trousers or pants got him to use the potty and then used just pants for a few more days before moving on to trousers. KEEP GOING! You can always get the carpets cleaned properly in a few months time!
