ok guru cod. i have a question.
only started ds yesterday .he is 2 and 5 months. if he has no pants or trousers on, he is fine and is making the potty nearly every time. if i put pants on him then he wets them. do i just leave him pantless or persevere with the pants? can't spend the rest of life with his bits on show?
but maybe needs more time to get accustomed?

Your going to shout at me

I put her in a pull up!!!

But but but in my defence, dh has gone to work with the pushchair in the boot of the car and I needed quite a few things so if dd had wet herself she would have had to stay wet until we got home.

One of the reasons for me going was to get some of those pampers sheets and they don't sell them

Are any of you using towels for things like the car seats and pushchairs?

I used old towels in the pushchair and carseat with DS2 (pre caremats!) and it was fine. The only drawback is you need to take the soggy towels home so have to remember carrier bags and a spare towel, Ok in the car but a pita when you're just out in the pushchair. The caremats are more convienient in that respect.

Yeah it's really full.

I can't understand why she pees that much because she doesn't use the potty very much IYSWIM.

sorry all cant stay away..lol

alexsmum my ds was exactly the same when he first went into undies he wet them about 6 times and then realised he didnt want to do that. We had the same again when he put trousers over a few days later and he had 2 accidents then clicked on to that to. you have to put the pants on otherwise he will never understand it.

Hello, I've a confession, I've been lurking and getting tips! I've been very lazy and haven't tried to potty train dd2 since the summer, she is now 2.6 and was quite happy in her pull ups. (Can't remember doing dd1 as I had dd2 around by then - it's a daze!)

So on Saturday I'd had enough and just went for it - pants and leggings all the way, we had 4 accidents on Saturday, 3 on Sunday and then for most of this week she's been great, she will tend to do a tiny bit of wee in her pants then stop herself and go to the toilet / potty. I'm really proud of her, any idea how long she will be before she doesn't wee in her pants first?

Oh and I have to sit her on the potty at 5.30pm or she'll crawl under the dining table to talk to the cat and poo in her pants!!

Potty training is the hardest bit of parenting so far!

Ds was soaked through by lunchtime. I told him he couldn't wear pants/trousers for the reast of the day because he had wet "today's" pants.

Huge wee on floor mid afternoon. I asked if it was an accident - had he forgotten to go to the toilet etc. He said "no, it wasn't an accident mummy I wanted to wee on the carpet." Big grin.

Half an hour later we were talking about a game or something and at the end of some long story he added "and I've done another wee on the sofa - look mummy!" also said with big grin. He was really pleased with himself.

Had to count to ten, bite my tongue and leave the room or I would have said something evil.

This is just beyond a joke now - he doesn't give a hoot and seems be trying to goad me into a reaction.

When I don't react and do it by the book "Oh dear you'll get to the toilet next time...broken record..blah blah blah"; he takes that as meaning there's no problem with urinating on carpets.

mcmudda · 20/01/2006 22:15

oops still dh's log-in

Nemo1977 · 20/01/2006 22:24

mcmudda
he really is goading you isnt he. PErsonally I would look at something along the lines of a big reward after 3 days of minumum accidents [i.e genuine ones] So if he goes 3 days dry then he can go to shops and pick something.

mcmudda · 20/01/2006 22:35

The longest we've had of no accidents in almost a year is 5 days

even 3 days would be bliss...

serenity · 21/01/2006 10:48

Well, we were doing so well, and I buggered it up by putting pants on her (but I will stick with it!) She's not just standing there and wetting which is good I suppose, but she isn't telling me or taking them off herself so she sits on the potty and wees through them! IIRC from the DSs though it does tend to be 3 steps forward. 2 steps back (please? is it?)

1 accident today so far. She wet her pants so I'm just about to put on some clean ones.

MeAndMyBoy · 21/01/2006 20:13

Well today's gone ok - just 1 accident - but that was at a friends house and 2 mins after having been on the potty too!!

Went out this morning for a couple of hours for a walk and pretty much forgot that DS wasn't wearing a nappy and no accident which is cool so think that we have pretty much cracked the at home stuff - just need to work on nursery stuff now - ho hum

mcmudda · 21/01/2006 23:59

Cod - ds is usually a pretty passive little lad. Only gets narky when he's taken to the loo: "I don't want to /need to/ I'm not listening to you/stop speaking to me etc."
The rest of life with ds is quite calm - great sleeper/eater/eager to please.

Big dump in pants today and all wees in pants while shopping and then at my parents' house.

My mum in particular is despairing. She's an OT and does the toilet training at the special school where she works. she's at a loss because even her SN children with all there various obstacles to get over, don't take as long as ds is doing to conquer this .

We whoop, cheer, phone Granny etc with every wee/poo in the right place, but that only happends when he's taken to the toilet - he would never initiate.

Ho hum.
