Ds was in the nip all Sunday afternoon and now my carpet honks. I made him "clean" it up after I'd dettoled it to death.

I hate pants.

Nemo1977 · 17/01/2006 16:15

hello all
well am in shock yet again as we have had another dry day so far. Even ventured out on a 3hr shopping trip and he stayed dry. Said he needed a wee on way home so pulled over car and got out portable potty but he refused to go [we were about 30mins from home] so thought hes going to be wet. got home and he was still dry and then ran in to use potty in the hall. so very proud here.

pony girl your ds is doing well and will get the hang of it. Ds spent first day bottomless, 2nd in undies and by 4th we put pants over which was a bit of a stepback as he thought he had nappy on.

LAct8 how are you doing today?

mcm am no guru but if it was me and ds was just lazy/nonchalant about potty training but capable of holding it in i might think about removing treats say his fave toy for 15mins if u prompt for loo and he says no but then wets himself?????

serenity · 17/01/2006 16:16

OK, throwing myself in now...!

DD is 2.2, far younger than the DS's were. I PT'd them because of external stuff rather than because they showed any interest in it. DD seemed ready to do it, and has proved that over the last couple of days but because of her age I now feel a bit stuck - I'm not sure what the best way is to go on to the 'next level'

Since Friday we've been going commando at home, she has the choice of her potty chair in the front room or the toilet (with a step and training seat left on) and yesterday we got 2 wees on the potty, one on my bed, one in the toilet and two poos on the potty - most of which were unprompted. However, I've had no school run as DSs have been home, but they go back tomorrow. We had to go out to the shops this afternoon, and popped in the park on the way home and she did a small wee in her nappy. I did ask her if she wanted to go whilst we were out but she just said no. I assume I should just have taken to the toilets at Sainsburys and the park without asking first?

What should I do now? Should I start her wearing pants at home? Should I put her pants or pull ups for the school run - I gave into advertising and bought some of those 'Feel and Learn' pullups, and I hate them with a vengance normally. DSs were easier as although they were uninterested they were pretty amenable to suggestions. DD is just plain stubborn

Someone bully me please!

Nemo1977 · 17/01/2006 16:24

hi
my ds is 2.3 just and i found just going for the pants and abandoning the pull ups nappy and all other safety nets seems to have been the best thing. It did mean about 4 days of accidents. day 5 and 6 he had one accident and the past 2 days he has been dry completely. It is scarey just dropping all the backups but at the same time i think it worked as he is less confused about it all and keeps telling me no nappies apart from bed.

serenity · 17/01/2006 16:37

How do you teach them about pulling pants up and down? Am I just going to have to live with her weeing through them a few time? I think I need to go to Tescos and get a job lot, we've only got a pack of Dora ones that she kidnapped from Woolies!

serenity · 17/01/2006 16:55

Ok just found her trying to put DS2's pants on, so put a pair of Dora pants on her. She got bored and took them off. Sellotape or staples?

Yes but.....

it's too cold to go naked outside, and I don't want her to feel pants are 'safe' like nappies or pull ups.

and I don't want the car to smell of wee,

but OK, nappies at night only and I'll run out and get extra cheapy pants and care mats when Dh gets home.

lol at your DD kidnapping pants serenity

ponygirl · 17/01/2006 19:27

OK. Total of 5 accidents. Late afternoon he asked three times to use the toilet because of his bottom, but nothing happened. Didn't do anything in the bath. Then asked for his nappy to be removed to go to the toilet - and did a poo! (Tbh, I think it had already come out (sorry TMI!) and just happened to plop in the loo, but who's nit-picking?! Hurrah for ds2! Feel encourage for day 2 now!

aww pony girl congrates to your ds such a improvement on this mornings post!!!!!!!!!!

Well we had our 2nd dry day so think it may be cracked as it even included trips out. Only problem I have is DS insists on taking off trousers and undies to use the loo/potty which when i am out is going to be a bit of a nightmare but am sure that will work out in time. For the moment I am happy with how he has done..sooo proud!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MeAndMyBoy · 17/01/2006 20:53

Yep we had about that on the first 2 or 3 days I think.

Well today was a break through for us DS asked at nursery to go to the toilet and they got him there in time - so he has been dry ALL day and during his nap, didn't have a nappy on at nap time either!!

So good day here today, lets see what tomorrow brings, but if it all goes pear shapped that's just fine, cause I know he can do it now and so do nursery.

LOL at mcmudda and DS saying you could get another pair of Mr Pants - they out smart us all the bloody time don't they!! you can just see them tutting and shaking their heads at us

Nemo - Wow fab - well done on the 3hr shopping trip very very brave.

Redwood, Lact8, Vossy how you doing ladies

Serenity when I was trying to show DS how to take pants off - I showed him me taking them off and then helped him put his hands on his and take them off - easier without a top on so he can see what he's doing and then just practised

lact8 · 17/01/2006 22:02

Evening all,
well done nemo, sounds like your little one got it sorted!

Mamb, great news about nursery, bet you were very proud mummy when picking him up.

Ds2 been dry all day too. had a poo in pants (no diarrohea thank god!) but he'd been telling me for ages he wanted to go but unable to actually do the business whilst on the toilet. but dont mind poo accidents as much as wee ones, doesn't involve full change of pants, jeans, socks, shoes so i'm a happy bunny.

ds2 has taken to telling me its time for me to go for a wee, have humoured him a couple of times but got bored very quickly of mini bladder dictator, then i realised this is what lifes been like for him for past week...i think thats why he started asking to go himself just not to hear me asking!

ponygirl, hurray, 1st day over well done to you both! 1st is definately the worst

i agree with mamb about showing how to put pants on and off, just turn the heating up a bit and resign yourself to being under house arrest for a few days!

taking dd to baby clinic in am, this'll be biggest nappyless journey we've been on so wish me luck

PiccadillyCircus · 17/01/2006 22:05

Am thinking about joining the thread properly. DS asked to have nappy changed while out, nothing in it but then asked to sit on a toilet and weeed in it.

And then before his bath, wanted to sit on the potty and weeed.

Showed great interest in buyig some big boy pants as well.

I think I need telling that this could work

ponygirl · 17/01/2006 22:07

Thanks all! Am very proud of him, though pretty exhausted. I'd forgotten how knackering it is having to be so watchful all the time! Good luck all for tomorrow!

MeAndMyBoy · 17/01/2006 22:15

PiccadillyCircus - go for it before he realises what he has started!! lol

Good luck for a dry day for us all tomorrow.

PiccadillyCircus · 17/01/2006 22:19

OK - I will think hard about starting on Thursday (DS is at nursery tomorrow and I think it would be a bit much to expect them to start things off

lact8 · 17/01/2006 22:22

picadilly, that sounds like delay tactics! ds2 had to spend entire morning sitting in nappy changing box saying "i need a wee" before i was persuaded!!
