Couple of questions as I get ready to start: wanted to start on Monday but ds2 has pre-school in the afternoon and I presume you recommend cold turkey? What do I do when we have to go out in the early days, ie taking other two swimming Wednesday pm? And (finally) what's best: bare bum, pants or pants and trousers? Did bare bum with the others to start but wonder whether ds2 will be happier with clothing, but will that feel too much like a nappy?

Btw, you're quite right: it's me that needs training. You wouldn't think I'd toilet-trained two already! God I hate this toilet-training thing, it's the worst bit of parenting so far!

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 13:15

bob i totall y disagree abotu he poo thing
kids ar idel pople who will always put off going whne you ask them to

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 13:16

id go totally cold turkey uin;ess it s somethign really important
any nursery whdoul be able to cope wiht it but bung loads of spare clothes in - socks too
at home pants only is best ratehr than bare bum - so they feel the penalty of weeing htemselves ( soudns harsh but ykwim)

we did it! made it to playgroup for 1st time with dd in tow ( on time time too but that just me showing off!) four trips to toilet while there, no wet pants. great success wet pants as soon as got home tho, while i was feeding dd. then did poo in panys while feeding dd again. still happy even tho accidents cos spent half day dry and no longer having to take all lower clothing off to go either so we're getting there. reckon we'll have it sorted by sunday?!

Nemo1977 · 12/01/2006 14:57

lact8 well done to your little one. think the accidents when you are busy with dd are normal as ds does this when i am with dd half for attention as she is only 3wks old.

Cod have had him in pants in the house still today and have had 3 accidents this morning alone..sigh however since 12 he has been dry and used potty once so will see how it goes. I have to take him to toddlers tommorow so didnt want to go cold turkey there with the trousers on hence him wearing them today. Hv just been to see dd and asked about him weeing when in trousers and she said she had never come across that?????????

lact8 · 12/01/2006 15:45

nemo, my dd 4 weeks today so understand completely, ds2 def realising i'm otherwise occupied when feeding dd. i found going to playgroup so much easier, ds2 so busy playing didn't attempt to remove trousers at all so fingers crossed it'll have same effect on yours too. ds2 going commando at moment forgot to turn washing machine on so no clean pants left in house....ds1 nearly 9 so cant stick a pair of his on him! good luck for tomorrow

Nemo1977 · 12/01/2006 17:14

hi lact8..just realised you had your dd day before me as dd is 4 wks tommorow where does the time go??????????

Anyways big update we hadc another accident at 3pm but since then we have had 2 wees on the potty and only thing thathas changed is I am not prompting him. So it seems ds gets too peeved with prompts so rebels but when not prompted just gets on with it!!!!

lact8 · 12/01/2006 18:15

will we ever understand them?!? ds2 spent since 3 weeing on floor and proudly showing ds1 what he's done....
never mind, lets hope girls are easier eh? heart sinks when i think i'll be doing this all over again in 2 years time....

peckarollover · 12/01/2006 18:19

not going that well this end

starting this afternoon

he has had 2 wees on the potty and 2 accidents.

the wees on the potty were from me sitting him on there not from him realising he needed to go

shall i keep going~:?

lact8 · 12/01/2006 19:59

peek, def keep going, ds2 needed reminding all time 1st few hours, as long as you jump up and down and cheer "YOU DID A WEE" he'll understand its worth doing. if you think bout it he's done half of them where he's supposed to so well done him! I know its poo (ha ha) cleaning up messes but we'll all get there in the end

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 20:23

"Hv just been to see dd and asked about him weeing when in trousers and she said she had never come across that?????????
" dont understand.

pecca keep going god 2 accidents is small fry - yes keep going!

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 20:24

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 20:25

lact8 a great mornign! very understandable theat they wee hwen youa re feeding

mine always did it when i had someon in the house - amate or summat and i was distracted adn also looked like worst potty traienr int eh world

peckarollover · 12/01/2006 20:26

i fear have just psychologically damaged DS

Put him to bed at 7 and he has been up and down getting on my nerves all night so went up stairs and heard he was out of bed

Roared at him to get back into bed and stop messing around, gave the poor love the fright of his love - he had got out of bed, taken pjs off and nappy and was sitting on the toilet having a wee

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 20:27

fantastic
! tell him in front of dd tomorrow how clever he was

get her on board to to praise and whoop

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 20:27

that is really good
doesnt his bott look cute in his pants?

peckarollover · 12/01/2006 20:28

he hasnt had them on yet

been in boxers today and yes they are oh so cute

he has chubby bum so they are quite tight on him he kept walking around like a peacock saying ive got boxers, just like dad

peckarollover · 12/01/2006 20:29

white boy knickers still in packet in his wardrobe looking embarassed next to the boxers

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 20:30

ah the white ones are to die for hwen they are all tanned.

lact8 · 12/01/2006 20:31

peck, great progress from not going without prompt to getting on toilet himself!! think he deserves big treat for it (wish someone would give me chocolte everytime i went to the toilet!)

peckarollover · 12/01/2006 20:32

yes i can imagine tan and pants being good - does that mean i have permission to get credit card back out to book a holiday?

lact8 thanks - not quite sure what happened there, feel very guilty for shouting when i should have been whooping

codnotamod · 12/01/2006 20:33

well done master pecca of rollover

lact8 · 12/01/2006 20:36
