As promised - Part two

A long way, it certainly has tested DP and my relationship - which appears to have risen to the challenge.

DS2 is now cruising, not crawling as such but he is pretty mobile in a sort of undirected way. He can raise his body up on his toes and hands.

We appear to have stood the test of time too but after last night when dd2 was up wailing constantly for the second time running, I'm not sure about my relationship with her

kaz33 · 08/01/2004 15:09

He's crawling but sleeping through the night has totally disintegrated and I seem to spend half the night up and down and all he wants most of the time is a cuddle....

yep, crap nights here too

Am writing article on depression. Also article for different publication on 'the first six weeks of baby's life'. Must NOT get them confused!!

champs · 08/01/2004 16:09

MI-- aren't they both all tied in to each other
ds2 has two teeth at bottom, wants to sit up but am sure his just turned 5 mths old back is too young!! he really wants to play wiv other kids!!
He can roll over but choses to stay on his side most times as he doesn't like being on his tummy!

BTW any weaning news?

Evansmum · 08/01/2004 16:28

It's really interesting to hear how different all these babies are. Wish I'd known about MN when I had ds last July. He's just started trying to sit up today!

traceyshep · 08/01/2004 22:24

My DD has changed quite a bit in the last few weeks! She can sit much better, and can roll over but not crawl yet (good as my house is not childproof yet!) Only problem is, she has become worse about going to bed - she cries for between 1 min and 45 min. If it's for more than 5-10 min with no sign of settling dh or I do something like the pu/pd. Has anyone else found the same with their ds/dd? DD used to go down awake fine with no fuss. She has started nursery and likes it but this started before then! She does like her food - today she had veg + yoghurt for lunch, then macaroni cheese and semolina for tea. Reminds me of school dinners!

motherinferior · 09/01/2004 19:16

Hi EM - and sorry to see your post about EM. Dying to gossip about someone at your work, actually...

...and yes, I wish I'd known about MN before I was hugely pregnant. Mind you everyone here encouraged me towards the birth I wanted so I shouldn't complain.

Dd2 has learnt to roll over!!! and is enjoying her food, such as it is (pureed peas with broccoli, anyone?)...I remember falling in love with dd1 at the same age. Suddenly all I want to do is kiss her little round tum tum and tickle her...

eddm · 09/01/2004 19:29

Who? Who? Who? MI! NB have changed name... but this will give it away!

Dahlia · 09/01/2004 21:46

Well, dd2 doesn't want to even attempt rolling over, but she has totally mastered sitting up!
Talking of gross food, she has a cheesy parsnip fetish. (God, that sounds really rude). Thank god for Mr Heinz - I try really hard to make food for her, but I quite often succumb to a handful of jars in Tesco - is anyone else such an unfit mother?
Incidentally MI, are you going to tell us when and where any of your stuff is published?

kaz33 · 10/01/2004 14:44

He's gorgeous and so happy now that he can crawl, stuffing his face and we have got tough with sleeping at night. Ten minutes before we get him up and so far he has only managed two or three.

Only cloud over our life is the 5-6am starts that DS1 is imposing on us. I mean most of the tome he gets up and Cbeebies isn't on !!!!

traceyshep · 10/01/2004 17:59

Dahlia, yes I have to admit to using jars sometimes as well. Especially over Christmas and New Year when we were touring the country visiting various family members!
DD has suddenly started sitting up really well this week

motherinferior · 10/01/2004 19:18

eddm...head of public affairs?

Dahlia - and anyone else who's interested - I have two pieces in the forthcoming Junior Pregnancy & Baby issue (not the main Junior, the baby one). And apparently Red is running something I did ages ago, plus an article I'm writing at the moment, in April.

If you read them please be nice to me...

eddm · 10/01/2004 20:09

MI, I've emailed you via the site current or previous head?

motherinferior · 11/01/2004 17:16

Aha, just checked, previous one. Looking forward to hearing from you - IME emails don't always get through so if you don't hear from me try again!

motherinferior · 13/01/2004 16:23

eddm still haven't heard in case you were wondering!

Dahlia · 19/01/2004 16:40

Hi Everyone, are we all still alive? I just never get time to get on here. dd2 still has no teeth, can sit up quite well but no rolling. She is so mellow, I could leave her all day with a pile of toys and she would amuse herself quite happily.
MI, couldn't find your mag - am going to search further afield tomorrow. Our local newsagents has 40,000 copies of hello and ok and thats about it.

motherinferior · 19/01/2004 21:44

I do get on here but shouldn't, because I have masses of work stacking up. So I'm doing a bit of evening posting instead of daytime.

Dahlia, your dd2 sounds such an incredible sweetie. And sitting up! Mine has no teeth either, but is busy doing rolling at every chance she gets. And she's learned how to chortle at just about everything, including her big sis.

kaz33 · 20/01/2004 14:38

Watch our ladies they are coming to get you - DS2 is the crawling machine, been doing it since the first week of January - has now graduated to pulling himself up on everything to standing, can after a bit of effort climb the one step in our flat and the other day took four steps holding on to my hands for balance... Aaargh you forget how sensible a 2/3 year old is compared to a total beginner - all furniture is being moved and DS1 is on a total jelly bean ban as he tends to scatter them everywhere.

One bonus is that because he is so physical he has really good balance and rarely hits his head which is a plus..

He still has no teeth despite months of teething and bright red cheeks. Still not sleeping through the night ( me or him) , suffering from total sleep deprivation as now back at work full time and to top it all he now is rather ill and will only sleep if I hold him....One day at a time, our lives will return one day...

Anyway am very proud of my rather large athletic bundle - DS1 is the poet and DS2 the rugby player.

MI must get the magazines and have a shifty at the articles. Dahlia - mellow babies are great, she sounds adorable.

Can of course post on Mumsnet as back at work !! Never any time at home.

Dahlia · 28/01/2004 16:56

Oh my god Kaz! That's amazing, isn't he doing well? I just can't imagine getting to the crawling stage, let alone taking steps. I'd better start investing in corner cushions and socket covers and all those fun things.
Our loft conversion started last wednesday - they reckon it will be finished by next week! They are fab builders, don't stop for lunch, have one cup of tea and that's it. I am so impressed. The whole house is bombsite though and quite depressing, there are mounds of toys, equpment, clothes boxes and general shite everywhere, even the bathroom. But it will be fab when its done.

eddm · 28/01/2004 18:44

Oh blimey, my ds, 6 months and 10 days, isn't even sitting up properly yet!

motherinferior · 28/01/2004 21:30

Dd2 appears to be trying to crawl - she can't sit up on her own, but she now flips onto her tummy and squirms around energetically. VERY different from her big sister, who took life incredibly easy for, oh, months.

Bright red cheekies and no teeth here too.

kaz33 · 28/01/2004 21:50

DS2 is outrageous, much more physical than his big brother and so strong. Am rather proud of his early start, though our nanny is starting to look rather haggard as he is always on the move.
And DS1 who is quite sensitive is finding the attentions of his adoring not so little brother quite trying.

But as you all know how early they do one thing does not really signify much in the big scale of things.

Best news he is sleeping all night and DP and I are off to Paris tommorow until Sat lunchtime. Only problem AF due hopefully, see other thread ;}

Good builders? Oh i forgot you don't live in London do you Dahlia.

She has a tooth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dahlia · 29/01/2004 18:00

Maybe that's why she woke at 5.30 this morning.
