How much do you 'ignore' your children?

Have just been out with two families - friends of ours- who have kids about the same age, and I have to confess, I am amzed by the extent to which they actively 'ignore' their children trhoughout the whole afternoon.

By this I mean they seem to 'zone out' from all the various requests/ questions/ constant 'to-ing and fro-ing' that seems typical of under- 6s??

As a result they actively seem to enjoy themselves more, manage to have 'adult' conversations (which I gave up years ago )and it seems that their kids eventually give up and go and sort out themselves whatever it is they want....( which seems like a good thing I suppose)

I can't decide whether I'm just a mug with my kids and let them dominate my life too much... but I simply CAN'T ignore them - it seems really rude and uncaring somehow??

By Vaunda on Sunday, 11 September, 2005 11:41:21 AM

Soapbox, he did for a while suffer bullying but for a totally different reason than not for not mixing. He was bullied for being the only white child in the class. and only then by one child.

jampots · 12/09/2005 00:02

well this is sort of work - its to do with schools and things

jampots · 12/09/2005 00:03

jampots · 12/09/2005 00:04

vaunda?

Vaunda · 12/09/2005 00:04

at the end of the day which it is... i do not have to prove myself to anyone. if you really feel the need to phone the school and ask about the rsb then go ahead. if marslady really has a nephew in the school she too (if he is oold enough) will eventually learn that i am right. and her nephew probably knows my mum who works there.

QueenOfQuotes · 12/09/2005 00:05

Actually - going back to Vaunda's first thread

"But he prefers to be with adults to children and instead of whining or keeping on he asks once and waits."

Well - thats' because he spends all his time watching TV, playing the playstation and watching a movie/reading in his room before bed

MarsLady · 12/09/2005 00:05

ah............... in his class. Really? Will get David to have a look tomorrow and tell me which class Karl is in and if he truly is the only white boy there. You might see my sister at the gate. Who should I tell her to look out for?

Vaunda · 12/09/2005 00:06

sobernow,
please show me when i said he was a singer or a dancer? i said that on a wednesday he does an hours of dance with the dance teacher which he does. the singing he does is during mass when it is held. or at home when he plays with his karaoke machine. other than that you are greatly mistaken

WewaldWiwaffe · 12/09/2005 00:06

so just to confirm what you are claiming then, that every year they visit and offer three lifetime places to pupils, guaranteed.

Vaunda · 12/09/2005 00:07

Marslady which class is david in? pray do tell. My mum probably knows him

Vaunda · 12/09/2005 00:07

www, not garenteed every year but they do pick 3 every year if the children want to do it they can otherwise they don''t
