Hermya I was planning to use disposables for the first week or so (as long as my stock lasts) for the very same reason!

...saying birth plans are pointless is terrible and even worse! Shock

Out of curiosity, which reusables did you get? I've got some tot bots bags of size 1 and 2 and 10 bamboo terries and plan to get about 10 cotton terries.

Hermya321 · 03/10/2010 14:58

Mumnerves Urmmmm I got quite a mixture tbh, the main type I've gotten though are tots bots and bumgenius. I also have a few ittis, a rumparooz, a little lamb and some easyfits v2. I also have a stack of muslins.Blush I guess I went a bit OTT.

Ariela · 05/10/2010 01:57

Mumface pleased he got the place! Do you have a drier? If so all the M&S and John Lewis and Sainsburys shirts we have (Sainsburys not so good a fit, too wide and not long enough, she's tall!) are self ironing - I pop them in for 5-10 minutes max then hang over the back of the kitchen chairs. Not sure they were non-iron, but they're poly cotton and do crease a bit when hung on the line to dry. I do the torusers at the same time, then fold along the leg creases as I take them out. If it's summer and the shirts are really crispy off the line I pop a dampened handkerchief/wipe in with them to help un-crease. Is a very quick and easy way of 'ironing' school uniform because you can do the whole week's worth in less than 10 minutes (which is handy when your kitchen is in kit form and you've no idea where your iron is)

Hermya321 I too think birth plans are not a good idea. I think because they are plans they are either made or broken - and broken often sets people up for PND IMO, certainly did my friend who failed to progress and after a couple of days hoping for her planned calm drug free birth, had tried everything, had no sleep and had to have an emergency CS. She hadn't considered the possibility of a CS, she felt guilty for weeks, and really struggled to bond.

I think they should be re-named birth preferences, or birth options and rather than a list expressed more as a mind map. So people can put down what they'd ideally prefer but also what alternatives they'd choose should things not go according to their prefered route.

I upset the apple cart by refusing to write one. Certainly made the midwives go in a tizz! I said it made their job easier as we could just go with the flow as it happened and they didn't have to read a load of cr*p on my notes and then wonder how to be tactful!

mumface · 05/10/2010 11:03

Thanks for the tips Ariela, I went for the M&S non iron ones, so will pop them in the drier for a couple of mins first then hang them up.

Ariela I agree with you on the fact that you should have preferences rather than a plan. I have put what I would like to happen (a water birth) but at the end of the day I don't know whats going to happen and also I don't know how I'll cope with labour. The one thing I really really will be very upset about though is if after the whole thing is said and done is if I don't get tea and toast afterwards.

mumface · 05/10/2010 18:54

Too right Hermya, I always remember how delicious my first meal was after sickness throughout the entire pregnancy with all 3. To eat a meal and feel normal afterwards was bliss!

I likee! 2 on order Blush. Hello All!!

Hermya321 · 08/10/2010 10:56

I like the black one, it's quite groovy.

BTW can someone tell me what 'wicking' is?

mumface · 08/10/2010 13:51

Hi Hermya, wicking is when the wetness seeps through the fabric and transfers on to something else. So if you have a non waterproof or nonrepellent fabric touching the cloth it will wick through.

Evening all :)

bagpuss · 08/10/2010 21:55

Evening all!

Purple, can't believe those nappies are too small now! You must be feeding them rocket fuel or something Grin.

Mumface, hooray for the school place! We had M&S shirts when the dcs used to wear them - they were very good.

Myjob, we had Eclipses for the other dcs - was planning on them again as long as they fit! How are you getting on with the Thirsties wraps?

Hi 4, Mumnerves and Hermya!

Am thinking of adding another 2 BG to my preorder Blush. I bought two V4s to replace my V2s which have finally died elasticwise and I quite like them. Much better than the old ones I had although I can't quite see what is different Confused.

Connor is so easy to buy nappies for, he hardly ever leaks through a nappy. His dad had him all afternoon in an Itti Bitti and it was fine.
I am trying not to buy anything and save for the babyshow as I'm sure I will see lots of nappies I want. (and Bugaboo stuff which is another obsession!)
Does anyone know which nappy sellers are going to be there? I hope Cheeks and Cherries will be again and I know Itti Bitti will.

Yes it's Earls court I am going on the Sunday, just taking Connor.
Had a stressful day today, huge toddler tantrums in Tescos with Lewis, even the assistant came over and asked if I would like her a have a go at talking to him Blush Everybody stared. Then it happened again at the tills and he accidently kicked a lady walking past. Sad All over having a go on a fire engine ride that was out of order (cus that's all my fault?!)
