What great news. There is some justice in the world. Hope you can enjoy your freedom now and that the new house is ready sooner than expected.

robinia · 19/08/2005 16:50

Great news - and well done the justice system for getting it right.

sparklymieow · 19/08/2005 17:25

we are still getting grief from the house down the road, being called 'grasses' and stared at, but like I have said he wants to be very careful, because his mum is on unsecure tenancy.....

The reporter said they would be able to get parole in 2 years for the youngest, 3 years for the oldest and I'm not sure about the middle one...

OP posts:
TwoIfBySea · 19/08/2005 20:09

Doesn't matter Sparkly because when they get out you will be long gone!

This plus the fact you are getting a shiny new house - this is turning into a pretty good year for you!

sparklymieow · 19/08/2005 21:54

LOL, I think I needed to be given a break.... it was getting so hard to carry on. 2006 will be fab!!

OP posts:
Hulababy · 19/08/2005 21:57

That's great

Youngest could be out on half his sentence, as less than 4 years.

Eldest - over 4 years so will ahve to go through parole process. let's hope he keeps his bad behaviour up - then he'll serve the whole lot. TBH the fact that he had previous sentence still to do (presumably he was on license?) will go against him anyway

Middle one - with life he has a much more rigourous process to go through; should be a fair while before he is released with any luck.

Looks like a good result.

sparklymieow · 19/08/2005 22:16

Hula, maybe you can explain something? How comes the middle one was given life?? The reporter said it was something to do with his previous conviction of GBH and they HAD to pass a life sentance.

OP posts:
Hulababy · 19/08/2005 22:22

I guess it is just that - bad previous. Means that a lighter sentence wouldn't be justified. If he has done similar before then he obviously hasn't learnt from it - hence the life sentence. Not sure how long he will serve (NOT life obviosuly) but it oes mean he will be on licence for life. So, even when released, if he does anythign wrong again the police can pick him up and send him back inside without it going to court IIRR.

sparklymieow · 19/08/2005 22:32

He burnt someone's eye with a ciggy! He came out on tag before.

Hulababy · 19/08/2005 22:47

Breahces are not looked on favourable at all - especially something so serious - hence the sentence. And he is going to find parole a bg process as a result of the breach.

edam · 19/08/2005 22:50

Sparkly, only just seen this. Thank God you are all safe. I saw some of your posts about your neighbours and thought they sounded terrible (massive understatement), but this is beyond belief. How the hell can their parents not have realised what they were up to? How can they not have noticed that they little darlings were terrorising you?

Janh · 19/08/2005 22:51

mieow, have you seen the parents since the verdicts were announced? I do feel a bit sad for them.

Hulababy · 19/08/2005 22:52

Depends on what time they were sentenced. They'll possibly be at the local prison first and then taken to their training prison on YOI after the weekend. No movement at weekends normally.

Whever they are - at least it is not next door to you
