MUMSNET CENTRAL CHRISTMAS MEET

we used to have one in london then it got all regional last year i wanted to bring this up as i know it needs organising soon for november. i missed not going to one last year and so wondered who if anyone would beintrested in a central mumsnet meet up - you would have to palm your kids off as this is a pissfest ( except for me am on water)

some small groups of people may know each other as there are regional and area meets however don't worry your self twik - should you feel bored of your skull one evening read this thread - everyone is cacking themselves - it will be fine - we will get drunk be merry and dance around handbags. we will all get pissed off that we didnt get to talk to everyone we wanted too and a few few of us may not remember meeting anyone at all

I live in South Yorkshire so it's quite a journey and I'll have to travel by train.
Moneys tight atm and come November it's a bad time financially for us (it is every year). I think by the time I've paid for travel, meal etc it will be quite an extravagance (a very nice one admittedly) and thats me presuming that my cousin will put me up for the evening!

I am quite gutted but hey ho. I might be able to do the north one if it's going ahead though.

as am from the north - i know london isnt the centre of the world.

i considered a few points

last year there were regional meets. and nothing was organised for one big xmas doo.

a "central" manchester one was attempted to be organised and everyone kinds errmmm faded away and wouldnt even answer my posts as to whether it was still going on. - as i was willing to travel the 300 miles as i have family i could have visited too.

finally. we have done a "central xmas gathering" ( is that better worded? no prolly not) in londond twice before with success. it has good links.

finally finally, i and travelling on a train for 2 hours to get there. its not on my doorstep.

there is a northern one being arranged for those who would prefer - although in in yorkshire ( wrong side of the pennines)

by the wording i wasn't aiming for a geographical central but rather a central gathering of people because there wasnt a big one last year.

if you woudl rather there be one closer to you, you could organise one

(Steppy, I think it's a bit much to advertise your business/whatever it is on this thread - this is a thread to discuss a mumsnetters xmas meet up it's not about 'funkymamas'). Custardo, quite agree, it's a good idea to arrange a big London meet because lots of people either live there or will happily travel there and let's face it, there are good travel links to London (because it's the centre of the universe, obv). If anyone wants to arrange another meet nearer to where they live they can. Beety, have you found a walkign distance not too grotty hotel yet?
