Hellooooooo!

OP posts:
Berrie · 19/06/2010 13:49

Not feeling much better about it no. Why is not putting something in your mouth so hard?

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 19/06/2010 14:28

Exercise is the only way I tell ya. Even with your back Berrie, there must be something you can do. Swimming maybe?
All set for tomorrow. Party food and cake bought. Presents bought. Pinata ready. Party bags filled. Garden tidied. We've got 15 coming so I'm hoping the weather will be ok so they can spend most of it in the garden.
We're going to a friend's 40th birthday party tonight (there's been a lot of those lately . It's 80s themed so I've bought a ra-ra skirt and some chunky yellow plastic jewellery. DP has bought a blond mullet wig
I'm going to have to be good and not drink too much/stay out too late because I don't want to be tired and hung over for DS's party.

ghostofoggs · 21/06/2010 10:05

How did yesterday go Lyra?

LyraSilvertongue · 21/06/2010 10:57

Despite my best intentions I was tired and hung over for DS2's party
I got in at about 2.30am from the 40th party, which was brilliant fun. lots of dancing to cheesy 80s music.
We had 15 children for DS2's party which went really fast but was spoiled by one of DS2's best friends being a spoiled brat and ruining it for him. He made DS2 cry three times and ruined one of my new speakers and was just generally 'me me me'. A bit like Horrid Henry. The others were all lovely though and DS2 had a good time despite his 'friend'.
It's his actual birthday today so we did presents this morning and I'll cook him a lasagne for dinner.
Did y'all have a good weekend?

Berrie · 21/06/2010 11:55

Lovely thanks.
Did Dp get much of a Father'a day look in?
We went to a model aircraft show. (For Dh obviously) It was a sunny day and not as boring as it could have been. There was a definately a really pleasant bit sitting on a blanket under a tree with the paper. Hurrah for DS's at least some of the time.

I've had my last steroid epidural today so another stint on the sofa. I feel rather odd again - nevermind. It's done wonders for my skin and nails if nothing else.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 21/06/2010 23:59

Despite everything, DP did get a father's day. Although DS2 had already told him what his presents were (annoying). They got him an England mug (footie) and some new barbecue tools (his old ones were cheap and flimsy from Sainsbury's and bent and ruined).
What is it with men and barbecues? They do it once or twice a year but it becomes this Big Deal.

LyraSilvertongue · 22/06/2010 00:03

How exactly does the steroid thing help your skin and nails? I guess it spreads. My skin has been bad a for a while but I suspect it may be too much 'high living' (as DP's dad put it) than anything else. Too much wine, not enough water.
I have a terrible cold atm so that's my excuse for looking half dead. Plus weekend shenanigans.

Berrie · 22/06/2010 07:50

The steroid and anaesthetic goes into the spinal fluid so I guess it spreads through the body. I've not read that it is a side effect but the lady in the next bed had it too - mind you , it made her hair come fall out in handfuls too.
This one has been the worst for feeling ill afterwards. The injection site is really tender. I feel sick and headachy and I'm bleeding when I don't have periods since being on the mini pill. Blaah.

Hope that your cold feels better soon.

OP posts:
Berrie · 23/06/2010 08:01

Any better Lyra?
Dh developed a cold yesterday. We are supposed to be going camping tomorrow. Not sure we'll bother if he's ill.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 23/06/2010 17:15

Yes, much better thanks. I was a little pissed when I posted the other night I wasn't making much sense. I decided to blast the cold out if my system with alcohol and it worked.
Are you any better after your jab? Where are/were you going camping?

ghostofoggs · 24/06/2010 07:07

Morning

You lush, Lyra

Berrie, are the kids off school again? Camping where?
Dd made her Guide promise last night on top of a hill. It's her last week of school next week then that's it for 7 weeks .
She has a weeks Guide Camp second week in July ad I've booked a flight down to Mum and Dad's at the end of July - we'll probably stay 10-14 days.

Berrie · 24/06/2010 08:07

Morning.
We are gpoing camping! Woo hoo.
DH not great but going anyway. We are off to shell island in North Wales.here

OP posts:
Berrie · 24/06/2010 08:11

Ooops!Didn't mean to post, hadn't finished.

No the kids are not off school - I'm just taking them out. Me too actually, I'm meant to be teaching on Friday afternoon. I'm not sure the Head was very happy since it's approaching the end of term and if one of the children is off I won't fit the lessons in but bugger it. I've turned up often enough and the children are on a trip or doing something special and no one has told me. I'll fit the lessons in somehow!

Oggs 7 bloody weeks! Tis a killer!
Feeling much better thanks Lyra - just a persistant headache now.

Tee hee - have a nice weekend!

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 24/06/2010 09:45

That looks lovely Berrie. Nice beaches. Will you be in a tent? Have a great time.
Oggs, summer holidays already
We've got about five weeks left, I think. We'll have a month at home before going on hols for two weeks. The boys will have to miss the first few days of the new term.

ghostofoggs · 25/06/2010 16:39

Ooh have I missed you Berrie? Hope you all have a lovely, sunny, relaxing, fun-filled time! [smail]}

ghostofoggs · 25/06/2010 16:40

Berrie · 29/06/2010 12:58

Hellooo!
We had a lovley time.

True Blood Series 3. 4 episodes now to download!!!!

OP posts:
Berrie · 29/06/2010 13:00

Yes we camped in a tent. We toasted marshmallows on our camp fire. The only downside was some louts who arrived at the weekend and played very loud music It wasn't even good music!

We have 3 weeks left including this one.

OP posts:
ghostofoggs · 02/07/2010 12:05

3 weeks what?

Berrie · 02/07/2010 18:55

Of term.
2 now.

LyraSilvertongue · 02/07/2010 23:40

This thread is moving slower and slower all the time.
Should I write a huge epic post? Nah, keep it brief.
Hosted mum's 60th birthday party last Saturday, lots of work preparing, lots of clearing up after but it was a big success. She had no idea, thought we were going out for a family meal then arrived at my house to find all her brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren etc there singing Happy Birthday. She was almost in tears
DS's somehow broke the marquee we'd borrowed from a friend so I've spent all week seeking replacement parts before admitting to them that we broke it. They are fine about it as it's all fixed now.
Couple of quiet days then Kings of Leon gig at Hyde Park on Wednesday night. Was pretty good but not even half as good as Muse. The crowd was the biggest problem. So many people were standing around having conversations while the band were playing. Why pay £50 a head to have a chat which you can do for free any time? We were pretty far back so that didn't help. The crowd nearer the front looked like they were having an amazing time. I did get to go up on DP's shoulders for a couple of songs, which improved my view.
Nothing much has happened since then, was exhausted the day after and I've been hot and lethargic today. DS1 has an ear infection so had to take him to the doc this morning.
I've joined a book group so the last few days have been taken up reading the book, which was amazing. it's called The Help by Kathryn Stockett if y'all wanna read.
Turned into an epic post after all

Berrie · 03/07/2010 09:56

Tee hee...well done Lyra - something to read at last.
What a busy life you lead. Speaking of Muse DB was apparently pissed off the singer was not wearing the glasses he designed for him to match his guitar at Glasto. Snigger.

I have nothing of interest to report on your scale. School summer fete? I was once more successful on the water or wine stall - picked me a nice bottle of red. I must have a nose for it. We watched the first new True Blood last night. It felt really nostalgic hearing all the old names and the accent again. I feel like I was much happier when we used to watch it. When was that? Maybe it was before...THE BACK...Speaking of that I am feeling quite a bit better. It still hurts but it doesn't rule my life in quite the same way. I can even empty the dishwasher now...perhaps that isn't such a bonus!
Anyway, nice to hear from you.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 05/07/2010 22:03

What glasses are these? Not the flashing blue shutter shades?
What is a wine and water stall? I won a bottle of red on the bottle tombola (summer fair was on Sunday).
Where have you downloaded True Blood from? I watched some of season one recently as DP was catching up. I've still got two seasons of Lost to catch up with. Might rent the box set.
Feeling a bit bereft with no gigs to look forward to till September. Have you seen Eclipse yet? I'm going to try to see it soon.

Berrie · 07/07/2010 14:04

Don't know much about the glasses.

The water and wine stall has bottle bags with bottles in - you pay a pound and pick a bag. I always seem to get the wine,my luck has to run out soon!

I do want to see Eclipse but I think I'll wait until it quietens down an bit.

Dh does the downloading so I'll ask him if I remember.

Where have you got to Oggs?

ghostofoggs · 08/07/2010 08:18

Hellooooooooo!

I got sucked into a huge "getting-dd-ready-to-go-off-on-her-first-Guide-Camp type black hole".
We dropped her off on Tuesday morning and will collect her on Sun afternoon.
I'm ...............................................
< big crash >
Aargh! Bloody dog!
I had left the left-over liver and bacon casserole in the dish in the oven (for the dog's tea tonight) and the bloody little minx has somehow nosed open the door and dragged the baking tray out. The pot dish just crashed to the floor and spead casserole all over the place!!!

Trying to take the opportunity while d is away to have a mass tidy and get all the washing up to date. Then if time I will tackle ... her... room !

Eclipse isn't out until Friday is it? I'm supposed to be going with the friend I saw New Moon with, but no hard and fast plans yet.

Glad your back is easier Berrie. Glad your Mum had a lovely suprise party Lyra.
