Yes I know, we know somebody who knows him.

Francasaysrelax · 24/11/2009 12:51

Who is it, David Cameron?

Hello!

Rosa - we will send you good anti-scarlattina vibes! Mind you my DD is also not well at the moment, and very ratty, so I am not sure whether I can actually send off positive vibes! I do hope things get better for you - comune situation included!

Camo, it looks like the star costume will be easy enough then! Rugby was really good fun. Ended up sitting next to a group of 10 very tipsy South Africans and the teenagers from the Bassano rugby club, who were very keen on explaining all the rules to us (bless!).
Had a really good time actually, despite the cold - then also took DD to the annual fair, but frankly she was somewhat underwhelmed by giostre (only 15 mths though).

Very very keen on watching the Wire by the way... I have bought series 1 for DH's birthday

On the note of MILs - it must be awful for those who have not so nice MILS, but mine is not too bad actually (just not the brightest of the bunch, shall we say, so it is easy to ignore when she says sth unapalatable). BUT she is impossible to buy for. Have you got any bright ideas re: Xmas presents?????? Books are a no-no because she does not read, clothes are difficult, does not use make-up or much perfume really, does not enjoy sweets or alcohol, jewellery I have done to death argh...

AntonioGramsci · 24/11/2009 13:09

Crockery?

Francasaysrelax · 24/11/2009 13:11

Brava Minerva for buying the wire, I'm sure you'll both enjoy it!

I have no idea with regards to presents for the adults of the family. Thankfully they are all quite happy receiving books, so I'll probably go for books as usual.

For myself, there's plenty of things I desire, but all too expensive and clever for anyone to guess , do I sound bitter? I am!!! Tomorrow is my birthday, and I know I will get sod all.

Sorry, I feel a bit

Francasaysrelax · 24/11/2009 13:12

Crockery. I'd be delighted to receive crockery, for instance.

MInerva I have the same problem with MIL but we don't have the jewelry option as she has a cassa forte pieno ..... Its flowers on her birthday IN past years we have done a hamper ourselves at Christmas and that has gone down well. This year is a digital photo frame with pics only of the dd's and obviously the cugini....
DD keeps asking me when she can go back to school...... Mind you we keep finding her friends out of school rather than in !!!
I might be going to teach domani but I still haven't heard !
Franca be positive about your birthday you nevr know somebody might surprise you .... ( POsitive thinking for you .....)

Francasaysrelax · 24/11/2009 13:19

Thanks rosa . I've been feeling in a bad mood in the last few days.
Not helped by ds's nighttime waking up.... again . So I'm so not positive at the moment.

at your dd wanting to go to school. Sounds like my dd

Oh Franca, I know exactly that feeling.
If I want anything nice for my birthday I have to get it myself.
I am hard to please though.
Every few years DH will give me a laptop, or a phone or something, but usually nothing.

Fancy a bit of fantasy crockery shopping then?

minervaitalica · 24/11/2009 13:30

Crockery? Will check the mugs out... Actually Rosa the hamper may not be a bad idea if I can get stuff she likes... Will check the supermarkets out!

The mother of my DH's best friend regularly gets ...ehm... uninteresting presents. The low point was washing up bowl and gloves as far as I can remember!

Franca, maybe you should start an Amazon wishlist... And casually drop the hint (to a female member of the family... Casual hints are a waste of time with DH IME)

Rosa · 24/11/2009 13:35

SPut its the same here ... I get told to choose and then he will go and get it or to go and buy it myself.. Mind you he says my present is sorted this year so I am a bit I haven't got his yet either and I am a bit stuck.
I still have all my wedding crockery in its box it has never come out as we don't have anywhere to store it so its still in the cardboard box along with my tea set ( I love a pretty tea pot !!!!) - Glasses and I am not sure what else as it has never been used !

Sputnik · 24/11/2009 13:36

Yes calendars with pics of DCs from us, it's almost worth having children for, to know you have sorted presents for grandmas for the forseeable.
Actually I just got an email from snapfish.it saying they're doing 35% off calendars atm.

Sputnik · 24/11/2009 13:42

No my DH won't even ask me to choose something for him to get. It's something that's totally off his radar really!
We don't get xmas presents for each other by mutual accord, but can't seem to decide about birthdays. Doesn't help that we have our birthdays on the same day, which is an utter utter pain in the arse.

Francasaysrelax · 24/11/2009 13:48

sorry, was making arrosto. Arrivo!

OP posts:
Francasaysrelax · 24/11/2009 13:51

Oh yes, shall we do a bit of fantasy crockery shopping? .

Minerva, I do have an amazon wish list, it's 20 pages long. I occasionally buy myself from it

OP posts:
Francasaysrelax · 24/11/2009 13:52

I occasionally buy myself from it... . Bye bye grammar!!!!!! Sorry

OP posts:
Sputnik · 24/11/2009 13:52

And I'm off out I'm afraid.
Franca you are always making arrosto.

Sputnik · 24/11/2009 13:53

Right, you shop away, I will review your purchases post school-run.

Francasaysrelax · 24/11/2009 13:54

. It's because we have swimming lessons today and get home very late. It just takes 2 mins to re heat arrosto...

Last time I bought a bit of meat for arrosto it was Euro20 - I thought a bit too expensive.
Then when I bought one from a supermarket it was far too fatty inside.
I have done my Jan - Nov calandar from Photobox and have asked dh oh about 20 times to take pics of the dd's in nice dresses or santa things for december ..SO I guess I will have to do it in fact I might do it this pm but Minirosa has slept 40 mins so she will be grumpy and more clingy than normal later PLus she is not eating anything other than yoghut or fruit in fact I don't know what to do about it....

Francasaysrelax · 24/11/2009 14:11

Mine is a bit of filetto from Esselunga, 12 euros (piemontese meat from esselunga usually good)

OP posts:
AntonioGramsci · 24/11/2009 16:34

Franca, why don't you book a nice restaurant and movie, book a babysitter and take dp out for your birthday, buy yourself something superduper, and tell him that now you are ....(whatever age you are) you want a present and an outing, that this year you have organised it, but from next year you want the lot.

Don't stay home and sulk, you have the whole of Milan at your disposal.

Sputnik · 24/11/2009 16:51

Sounds like a good plan there, on paper at least.
Rosa I think it's normal for babies to eat like that if they've been poorly, I wouldn't worry, at least she is eating something.
