this morning there was this huge and i mean huge spider on my dds bed ive never seen one that big im sure she did bodybuilding, anyway FIL got rid of it,they do come in handy sometimes the in laws, ghosty is it true theres jumping spiders in NZ??

Ghosty · 31/05/2003 21:45

Oh ... haven't come across any jumping spiders here ...
Supposedly there are no nasty spiders here BUT ... they do have an australian immigrant ... called a White Tail ... not very big but with a nasty bite that can go septic and people have been known to lose fingers and toes or even die from the blood poisoning that a septic bite can give.
I found one in my laundry basket a few weeks ago and freaked ... I found a website about them and e-mailed them about it and they said that if there is one in your house there will be more as they hunt at night in pairs (they like to eat other house spiders!!!!)
Needless to say I didn't sleep for days and springcleaned my house top to bottom ...
Did find the 'partner' ... he has now gone to heaven!

whymummy · 31/05/2003 21:50

oh lord ghosty how horrible, you`re very brave i would have emigrated to antartica, where was the partner?

Ghosty · 31/05/2003 21:51

In the laundry too ... but on the window .... I am afraid to say he had a painful death ... sprayed him with some nasty spray ....

whymummy · 31/05/2003 21:57

Near Newbury. Mother of one dd, nearly 12 months old - can't believe I've survived the first year. Took a long time coming, 6 goes at IVF then donor egg. Precious in the extreme, but trying not to be too OTT with it. And you? Seems like a close knit group, see the same names on most threads.

Love more - the donor for egg is my sister, and she has just had baby no 2 so is keen to donate more eggs for me!! Not got too many wrigglers tho as Dh had chemotherapy and it kills the blighters off. No wonder you need a drink with 4!! How old?
