No, don't know how to do it. Could search threads by me though!

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/07/2010 10:28

have responded, prob. not very helpfully but...

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 14/07/2010 10:36

Thanks MAS. It was definitely helpful, I was feeling very sorry for myself, and your lovely words made me cry a bit more, but I definitely feel a bit more accepting of B's foibles. I don't think I was very nice to her this morning, but figured the nice mummy stuff wasn't helpful either

hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 14/07/2010 15:42

awww, hotcross....
Don't feel sad - you are a fab mum and B is a great little girl!
I think you did exactly the right thing - giving in to her and allowing her to stay home may have been easier but 'forcing' her on the trip is better in the long run, I'm sure.
Other than that, she is still very very young. I would just carry on doing what you are doing, quietly encouraging her.

hotcrossbunny · 14/07/2010 16:24

Thank you I wonder where B gets her worrying haibits from??? She had a lovely time (of course!) so I will just have to keep reminding her how everything turns out OK in the end!

Have you both had a good day? I've been trying to get the party sorted, waited in for the party bags to be delivered and they haven't arrived We're off to swimming now, so they'd better turn up tomorrow now!

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/07/2010 21:08

I think it's our fate to be worriers ! And it's what makes B a dear thing Hope party bags arrive !

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 14/07/2010 23:10

I agree - I think it is what makes us mums! (and in my case a neurotic old bag )

Hope the party bags arrive in time. What are you doing for B's party?

I got called to the Lower School today to collect E. She was shivering and running a temperature and crying with a headache. She has spent the rest of the day on the sofa with calpol. Will probably not send her to school tomorrow, I don't think she will be well enough. Means I get a day off Unpaid mind, but still....

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/07/2010 07:35

poor E - hope she is feeling better today - and have a nice day off !!

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 15/07/2010 10:59

Hope E is feeling a bit better today Hippi, and you enjoy your free day!

Party bags did indeed arrive while I was out, but fortunately they put them in the back porch, and ignored the signature needed bit! B's having a very low key dancing lesson thing and then taking her friends for lunch. Have had major guilts about not inviting everyone who's invited her to their parties, but we're on a budget and she wanted her 5 best outside school friends to come too... Also I just don't feel well enough to organise a big whole class affair ATM...

It's chilly in our house today - brrrr. Am off to put on another layer

hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 15/07/2010 11:05

Dance and lunch party sounds fun!! Emily has decided she wants a horse riding party for her next birthday. Fine, but that has to be limited to 4 friends - so no doubt I will be experiencing the guilt at leaving many friends out too....

E is a bit better today but still has a temperature and is lounging on the sofa.
I am enjoying my day off - but only a little. I feel like I should be productive and make the most of the unexpected extra time but just cannot get motivated. So am lounging around with E. Quite nice though

hotcrossbunny · 15/07/2010 11:17

Bet E would far rather you were lounging around with her than rushing around cleaning or whatever Horse riding party sounds fab!

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/07/2010 12:51

yes, ditto !

Hello you two

I had a lovely day lounging around with E on Thursday! Having had a temp of around 104F on Wednesday night she perked up by Thursday afternoon and was back to normal by Thursday night.

So we all went back to school on Friday!

Well, except for O who, along with 11 other Cubs and Scouts from his school, was off for a weekend camp on Brownsea Island. Due to the timetable of the ferry to the island they had to catch the lunchtime train to Poole from Woking so the headteacher had given them all an authorised day off! Dh took O to the station and said they were all in high spirits!
The weekend will apparently include a nature trail, conservation activities, watersports and harbourside challenges. Am quite jealous!

Dh and I were out last night to a staff BBQ. We quickly came to the realisation that the staff at the Junior School are all quite decidedly mad! The evening was a hoot!
E was at MILs for a sleepover. Good thing too, we did not get home until nearly 1am! Brilliant fun!

Right, better go and finish my coffee and go to collect E.

Have a nice weekend both of you!

hotcrossbunny · 17/07/2010 09:46

Glad E is feeling better! I think teachers often are barking TBH Glad you had a good night. Am also envious of O's trip - would love to go there but they don't allow dogs, so haven't made it yet...

It's B's party today - wish me luck!

hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 17/07/2010 10:52

Ooooh, good luck with the party!! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the lovely B!!

Actually, having worked as a TA for a year now I think being bonkers is a prerequisite to teaching!

Have a lovely weekend

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/07/2010 23:11

Happy Birthday B !! hope the party went well

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 18/07/2010 13:36

Party went well thank you! Phew! We had E from 9:15 as her mum was busy so they watched a film while we got ready. Unfortunately a next door neighbour dropped in with a pressie for B and she hadn't been invited to the party, so I had to tactfully take her home 20mins before we were due to leave It's a minefield, isn't it?

Anyway, the dance session was lovely, a big success and all joined in. They do Saturday drop in sessions - maybe E would like to join B there sometime Hippi????

The walk to the retaurant was fine, we were a few minutes early, but they still took forever to feed us and I hadn't expected the chn to eat EVERYTHING on their plates which took forever... Fortunately we were taking everyone home and I'd warned parents we might be late if traffic was bad, so it was fine, but it was a bit worrying!

E's parents came to pick her up and stayed for tea and cake, which was really lovely. however, I was very aware there were at least 8 tumbling balls of dog fur wafting across the floor infront of them Wish I could be domestic goddess type

We're off to friend's for tea tonight, but wish I could collapse infront of the TV instead! Hope you're having good weekends!

hotcrossbunny · 18/07/2010 13:37

Oh, real birthday tomorrow, so we're building a bike tonight Had to take the first one back as it was dented...

hotcrossbunny · 22/07/2010 19:10

Hello Hope you're both OK? Have your schools broken up yet? Ours finished today, but unfortunately B was ill in bed... She was sick in the early hours, has a sore throat and temperature and we're waiting for chicken pox to strike! In some respects, at least she missed out on all the goodbyes which might have been really hard, but I'm sad not to have said goodbye to the teachers myself Oh well.

Are you going away in the holidays? We're hoping to camp the last two weeks of August, but we should be around the rest of the time if you fancy a day at Alice Holt or something???

hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 22/07/2010 20:07

Hello

O broke up on Tuesday. I did not cry at leaver's assembly, in fact I am glad he is out of there. He is keeping in touch with some of his true friends and does not have to see the others. Weight of my mind

E broke up on Wednesday. Felt a bit sad because it dawned on me that after 8 years I will never visit that school again.

I had an inset day on Wednesday. We cleared classrooms and tidied up. Very strange seeing the classrooms being dismantled, furniture moved, stereos on full blast, teachers in jeans and t-shirts.... Most odd.
We went for a nice meal to the pub next to the school and then had some sad goodbyes to say (4 members of staff leaving)

Today was the first day of the holiday - feels strange...

I am going to Holland with O and E tomorrow, back on Tuesday. Just staying with my parents - should be nice for a few days...

Then in the middle of August we are going to Wales for a week. Am very much looking forward to that!

At some point we are hoping to be moving too. Hoping to exchange tomorrow but as estate agent said: "pigs might fly". Fingers crossed. Potential date for the move would be August 6th. Keep everything crossed!

Did B have a nice birthday? Did she love her bike?
Shame she was ill for her last day, but maybe a good thing too....?

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/07/2010 22:47

poor B being poorly - but hope her bday was lovely and the bike a success
Good luck for exchange tomorrow hippi - fingers crossed for you -and have a lovely time in Holland.
T broke up at lunch time today - he got the results of his singing exam - a merit - he was cross with himself for not getting as many points as his grade 1 exam !
Would love to meet up at Alice holt but will be away first thing, then having niece staying at my parents then family wedding, so we might not all coincide.

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 23/07/2010 15:49

Well done T! That's fab news! You must be so proud of him, what a shame he's miffed about the points though... I'm sure it must be harder this year, also different examiners have differing levels of generosity!

Am hoping you've exchanged Hippi! How exciting Fingers crossed for a speedy move... Have a lovely lovely trip home too!

B had a lovely birthday, although she was quiet then, I think she's been incubating being poorly for a while... The bike was a disaster - much bigger than the box said - so dh took it apart and took it back B hasn't even noticed it's not there anymore... Will take her to try them out when she feels better.

We went to the dr this morning and she has terrible tonsillitus so antibiotics and lots of ice cream! Am still expecting chicken pox to appear too!

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/07/2010 08:55

oh poor B - get well soon ! and what a shame about the bike
Lots of good positive house moving thoughts top Hippi.
