am so glad induction days have gone well - exciting ! but sorry you are still in a bit of a limbo about next year.
We're off to the summer concert soon -will be hot in there - hope it's not too long ! T was meant to be making choc chip cookies in food tech but had to go to a choir rehearsal instead - bah ! Ribs better today - hooray !

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 30/06/2010 07:52

Glad ribs are better! How did the summer concert go? Hope it was not too hot!

O realised last night that the letters PPH on his daybook mean he is is form PPH. Duh! Transpires that they did announce forms yesterday but he was away with the fairies...
He is not with any of his friends (I think they try to split them up as much as possible) but he is with a boy and girl from his current school whom he quite likes and he is alos with the boy he keeps falling out with. The one heavily involved in the facebook campaign and the MSN alias. Grrr! Oh well. O is not too fussed ("we get on quite well at the moment mum") and I will be keeping a close eye on the friendship. And to keep matters in perspective, I think form is just for registration twice a day, his classes could be with others. So won't worry. [fret]

Right, better get ready for work - too hot to do much already...

Have a nice day

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/06/2010 09:16

summer concert ok, not too hot actually -lots of breeze coming through, so tolerable ! Ribs tolerable too.
In T's school they are divided into 8 tutor groups which are the forms -so they have registration there and are together as a group at various times, but obv. they all mingle in their lessons.

hotcrossbunny · 30/06/2010 16:04

Hello Sorry I've been neglecting you. The computer seems to make my dizziness worse, so have had a bit of a break. Kick me off here if you see me too often

Sorry about the ribs MAS. So painful and irritating there's nothing to be done about them. I agree with Hippi though, that R and R is called for! Glad the concert went well.

Hippi - what a huge pain about the boy. Really really crossing fingers that he clears off! Glad E is happy with school class, sorry O hasn't been so lucky. At least he'll escape them in his other classes I should think.

B has her induction day today and will find out her new class. Fingers crossed she's with some friends - turns out her current school were a bit lax with the forms so it looks like it's potluck, rather than going on who she wrote down... We have a parents meeting at the juniors tonight to meet the new teacher etc.

Sorry, got sidetracked. Back now! Well B is in a class without any of her close friends I can't believe it and am struggling not to cry. She seems Ok about it now but I think the holidays will be long... She's on a table with one girl from her class who is nice/mean alternately and 3 boys from another school. Why? why? Why? Everyone else seems to be with their friends...

Am a bit emotional today anyway. One of my friend's dh's has had a heart transplant today, which is great news but shocking too IYSWIM? Am hoping and praying he's OK.

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/06/2010 18:16

poor B - but I'm sure it'll be fine - friendships are transient at that age and it won't do harm to get to know new friends- I think the trick is to put a positive spin on it and make more of the exciting new school experience.
Hope all goes well for dh's friend's transplant - as you say good, but very scary.
T had piano today then no lesson next week and trhe following week is activity week and he'll be out in London seeing 'oliver!' which leaves 1 more before the hols- he'll miss the lessons as he loves them.
It's his grade 2 singing exam next Wednesday - fingers crossed !

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 01/07/2010 07:45

Oh, poor B! Have you asked the school why? Because I think I would...

I think E has been exceptionally lucky. O was not put with any of this friends when he moved to the junior school.

We had the parent's information evening at the high school last night - very interesting. The staff all seem very down to earth and I like the school very much. We all had a chance to speak to the staff afterwards (not O's form tutor though as he was not there) and I raised the issue of O and the fact he has been put in a tutor group with L despite the recommendations from the head of Y6 at his current school. They said they were going to tweak all the tutor groups anyway as there were some issues (such as one tutor having 9 girls and 19 boys in her group) so they asked me to email with my concerns and they would try to reallocate O. Part of me feels I am being overly precious about this, but part of me also feels that I want O to have a fresh start without all the crap that went on this year following him around. So we'll see. They said they would email to let us know if they have been able to move him. So we will see.... [fret]

Concert sounds lovely. Well done T!

I cannot believe we are just over 2 weeks away from the end of term. YOOHOO!!!!!

Still no news on the house front. Still waiting. No idea who we are waiting for. We have signed everything there is to be signed. Am ready to start packing [fingers crossed it all goes through]

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/07/2010 12:25

fingers very crossed for house move hippi
T's year were very incensed about the forming of another tutor group which picked out people from their present groups (not T) to make it up - the idea to create smaller groups..they set up a facebook protest..but really they do mix all the time in secondary so no one really misses their friends.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2010 07:23

hope you both have a good week- inset day here for T but he has a double singing lesson at 10 as it's his exam on Wednesday -dh working from home but we'll go out in the afternoon.

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 05/07/2010 07:59

Oooh, have a lovely day today MAS - a 3 day weekend effectively

Had a lovely email from the secondary school's head of year confirming they have moved O and to let them know should he have any more issues with these so called 'friends'. Am very impressed.
He is now with 2 boys with whom he is not friends (they are best friends) but with whom he gets on well-enough with. So I feel happier. And he seems happy too. To be honest I think he is ready to make new friends. There will be more boys along his wavelenght (ie loving drama not football) so he will find his 'crowd' I'm sure

Back to work today. Last week was a lovely week at school - activities week so normal lessons were suspended. Today it is back to normal [groan]

Right, better get ready.

Hotcross, I hope you are okay?

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/07/2010 07:39

that is v good news about O's school !
We had a nice afternoon walking in the gardens at The Vyne, then to Festival Place (bought T new socks/pair of shorts) and had supper at Wagamama.
T had his singing exam yesterday - seemed to go well he says...
Am starting my grief counselling tomorrow -bit nervous- they are coming to me rather than my having to go to Basingstoke, which might make it easier.
Hope you've had a good week at work so far hippi -any house news?
and hope all is well chez hotcross

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 12/07/2010 17:52

Sorry sorry sorry! Dropped out again! Hope you're both well?

Glad T's singing exam went well. Hope the grief counselling is useful MAS...

Hippi - fantastic news about O moving classes. Bet he's relieved - inside even if he doesn't go on about it! Am still crossing fingers for the house move too!

I'm up to my neck in school stuff and trying to organise B's birthday at the same time. It's manic! We've had tree surgeons at school who I've been responsible for I'll email pics when they're on the computer! Hopefully when next weekend is over I'll be less frenetic and able to catch up with you properly.

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/07/2010 07:37

tree surgeons ?!
The grief counselling has started well - very nice lady -I feel comfortable with her, which is important.
T is doing his Discover London activity week- St paul's and the city today. take care both of you x

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 13/07/2010 08:18

Tree surgeouns My word - what is going on??

Not such good news about O's new school. I was chatting to a friend about O moving forms. She must have mentioned it to someone else because next thing I get an angry phonecall from the mother of the girl who set up that facebook campaign back in January. She barked down the phone at me that her dd is in O's new form and that it would be best if I moved O again.
Cue me having a near nervous breakdown (I have no issues with her or her dd) and sending off a desperate email to the highschool asking for O to be moved again. Have not heard anything back yet and the high school must now think I am a neurotic basket case with a ds with no friends. Feeling really crap about it all.

Ho hum, and so we continue.

House move also stressing me out. Turns out that nearly 8 weeks into the process our buyers' buyers (the couple at the beginning of the chain) still don't have their mortgage sorted
And our buyers have suddenly decided (5 weeks after the last survey) to have a full building survey done. No doubt so they can start demanding large sums of money off at the last minute. Am so cross and stressed and worried and fed up. Gah!

Never mind, we just plough on.

Hope the grief counselling goes well MAS. Great that you like your counsellor, that is already a positive

Right, better get ready for work. Don't want to go out there and face the world. Just want to sleep....

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/07/2010 10:30

oh poor hippi - that mum sounds horrid - am sure the school will try to sort things for you - don't be hard on yourself. The house move thing too is also very stressful - really hope it doesn't drag on too long. Have a huge comforting hug x

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 13/07/2010 12:59

Thanks MAS
Thing is, the mum is considered to be one of the nice mums, and I always thought she was very nice. She was very kind and helpful during the facebook issue (and distrought at her dd's antics) so she either now has other issues with me and O, or she is cross that I am still upset about the facebook thing. Which I am, but not with her or her dd, but with other children involved in it all and their actions towards O since. (he has become the butt of all jokes in his class, it is seen to be 'cool' to be mean to him)
And the mum of this girl, the mum who phoned me to demand I move O, is normally a very very nice, very rational woman. And everyone likes her. So that is why my head is spinning so much.
Still no word from the high school. Am sure they must think I am over anxious and deranged. Not the image I wanted to portray at the school! eek!

I have a gut feeling the school won't move O's again and he is stuck in that form. And what worries me most is the fact that they do 'meet the form tutor' sessions for the parents. And I will have to be in the same form as this mum and her 3 best friends (whose dc are also in this form) And I am terrified already....

Better go, am posting from work and lunchbreak is nearly over.

Hotcross - did you get to the bottom of B's new class for next year?

hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 13/07/2010 13:00

sorry, to clarify, all the parents have to meet the form tutor at the same time. So no escaping the other mums. Am genuinly dreading it.

hotcrossbunny · 13/07/2010 13:22

Have been struggling to get onto MN - Stress!

Sorry you're going through the wringer Hippi. I really hope the school get in contact with you and at least show they are aware of potential conflict and can stamp on it immediately. They must be used to dealing with realtionship problems/bullying amongst teenagers and will have strategies for sorting it all out. How does O feel ATM? Huge hugs for you, it's horrible feeling so unsettled and miserable. Fingers crossed it is all resolved before the hols.

I had a lovely chat with B's current teacher. She was horrified B had been separated from her friends and rang the junior school to complain! She also alerted them to the girl in her class who smothers her and stops her playing with the other girls, so hopefully they wll actively encourage B to join forces with some new faces Am trying to remain calm and keep repeating my mantra 'It will be fine' but am inside dying TBH

Why does it have to be our children who get overlooked/left out? All of B's main friends are in the same other clas - surely they could have squeezed her in, rather than set her loose on her own, or at least let her keep one friend????????? Gah!

Sorry the house move is dragging along. All very very stressful. It will be worth it in the end

Glad your counselling went well MAS Hope T enjoys his London trip.

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/07/2010 15:44

oh it does all sound awful - mum mafia and all...
Hope B's new school sees some sense too for both of you.

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 13/07/2010 17:00

Well, I have just walked in from E's parents evening to two emails.
The first was the high school to say they are keeping O in the form they have put him in but have moved the girl in question to another form. So I gather the girl's mum must have complained. (and no doubt painted O as the bully but he can soon prove he is not)
I feel hugely relieved.

The second email was the estate agent to say our buyers are looking to complete on August 6th. But with them doing a structural survey next week I cannot help but feel they are going to force our had at a reduction just before exchange. Feel nervous and stressed already.

Hotcross, I know just how you feel. When I hear of others whose dc have been given their friends in their form class and O has not I feel very sad. I am also aware that E is incredibly lucky. Although at parent's evening the teacher did point out that E being with her best friend is a double edged sword as when they fall out they really let it effect them. But hey ho.

Is there no way the Junior School could move B into a different class?

Right, better go and get dinner prepared - am playing badminton tonight.

hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 13/07/2010 17:03

had = hand

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/07/2010 18:23

that's good about the girl being moved. Try not to fret about the moving stuff - stand firm !! easily said of course, but will be sending good vibes to you for a happy outcome x

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 14/07/2010 08:04

Will try not to fret MAS - not much I can do about it all anyway...
Survey on Monday and all being well we exchange next week. Fingers crossed they are not going to negotiate too huge a price drop!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/07/2010 09:58

fingers crossed for you !

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 14/07/2010 10:14

Am crossing my fingers too!

Have had to force B to go on her school trip to the local park this morning She said her tummy hurt, but in a nervous way. Feel mean for not being too kind and cuddly but I think she probably has to just get on and do these things. If you have a moment, I'd love it if you could check out my thread about her.... Am getting my knickers in a twist! Help!

Have come home in tears and just can't work out how to help her. Feel I've probably caused it all

hotcrossbunny · 14/07/2010 10:16

Hmm, that didn't work. Will try again...
Am getting my knickers in a twist! Help!
