Oh, no, that is sad news about your mum.

Nice that she is coming home, but early onset Parkinsons is not nice.
How are you all?

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/03/2011 21:25

we're ok really- just getting on with stuff- have felt a bit under the weather and very tired though.

just popping by to say Happy Pancake Day - are you doing Dutch style ones nine ?
Am starting my no chocolate for Lent fast tomorrow so had to eat up my rose & violet creams !

Mum home from hospital and settling back well.

OP posts:
BehindLockNumberNine · 08/03/2011 16:18

Glad mum is home, are you treating her to pancakes tonight?

I will definately be doing Dutch style pancakes for tea tonight - can't wait!! Smile

May need to eat in two sittings though, I am playing badminton with the girls from work tonight and that never goes too well on full stomach.

May have one (or two) with the dc and then more later in the vening Blush piggie emoticon!!

Hope hotcross is ok. Do you thinks he has given up on MN?

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/03/2011 17:26

yum yum - enjoy them Grin
Hope hotcross hasn't given up on us Sad
I reminded dad that it was pancake day- think he will try to remember to get some at Sainsb. -I rather think it's safer than him trying to make them fro,m scratch.

Hello lovely, sorry, long time no speak...Blush

Here all is well. Still struggeling to love this house. It is just not doing it for me Sad
Oh well, maybe one day...

The dc's schools did not do much for red nose day - so it was all a bit boring. There was a cake sale organised by the children at 'my' school though - and that went down a storm!!

Thanks for the link - will go and have a browse now.

Hope hotcross will reappear at some point...

Hello m'lovely Smile

How are you?

Things here are fine. Have just had an anxious week waiting to find out if I would still have a job after the easter holiday as with the new financial year serious cuts have to be made.
Found out today I am fine. Phew! One lady is losing her job but tbh we all feel she is in the young job anyway. Still Sad though.

O and E are great.

O is going great guns at school, working hard and getting good results. Still only has superficial friendships and is definately not part of a group, but he seems happy with that.
He has developed a nasty case of sun-allergy though. He gets it mildly every spring/summer but this time it is quite bad. All over his hands. Steroid cream and piriton control the symptoms and we are slathering him in suncream every morning.
Am thinking I may have to invest in a wide brimmed sunhat for him too. Bit tricky for a boy that one...
E is lovely. We got her a baby hamster 3 weeks ago and after 3 weeks of daily handling by all of us it is now the cutest and cuddeliest litte hammy ever! I am completely in love!

Hope hotcross resurfaces at some point!!

Hope all is well with you. xx

BehindLockNumberNine · 28/03/2011 21:20

wrong not young!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/03/2011 22:42

Grin !
Phew about your job !!
So happy to hear that your two are doing so well...poor O's sun allergy though-am sure there must be some cool looking hats about.
All ok here- plenty to keep me occupied which is good !
I collected S today from school and we saw T on the way home and she said his voice was very deep !

OP posts:
BehindLockNumberNine · 29/03/2011 16:55

Smile at the deep voice! I have all that to come still.... eek....

Am so relieved about the job. All of us are. The athmosphere in the staffroom was almost giddy today Grin

I do love the job so so much though - it is brilliant!

Have just ahd a guy round to quote on a driveway. This is the third company we had in to quote. Quotes so far are £5500, £5700 and £6180. Sob. The latter though in incl vat. Not sure if the other two are (am too lazy to dig up the paperwork) May need to rethink this driveway thing. Problem is the existing one is too small (I keep falling off it and churning up the grass) and it is just too old and past it's best. Not sure of the way forward.

Right, better go. Dinner and lunches to prepare and then I am playing badminton with the ladies from work tonight.

xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/03/2011 22:39

eek, that all sounds like a lot of money (useful to have a workable drive way but not exciting like a new bathroom or some such !)
So happy that you love your job- that is fab Grin

Hello!

Sorry I've not been around, have had a stressful few weeks... Dad has had a heart attackSad so I've been up at my parents supporting mum with hospital visits. Their computer is defunct, so I've had no access to the wider world! Fortunately after Angioplasty where they put in 3 stents, Dad is home and on strict rest for at least 6 weeks as his blood pressure is still way too high, but they are pleased with his progress Was a HUGE shock - we travelled north at 3 in the morning as he was critical, but his care was amazing and they looked after all of us really well. Fingers crossed he's on the mend now, although with massive changes to his diet and lifestyle...

So I'm back home again, the house is a tip, and I'm completely at sixes and sevens about what's going on at school etc!

I'll read back over your messages soon, hope you're both OK?

BehindLockNumberNine · 01/04/2011 20:20

Oh my god hotcross, you poor thing....
What a scare!

Great to hear he is on the mend though. Did you take B with you to your dad's?

It is lovely to see you back though! Was beginning to really worry you had left for good Sad

Here things are well. House does still not feel like home, but it feels comfortable enough.

Hope to catch up properly with you soon!

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/04/2011 09:22

hotcross ! what a scare -your poor dad and mum and you Sad Hope everything now goes well for his recovery - lots of good thoughts whizzing up north to him. Take care of yourself,it is terribly emotionally exhausting for you. xxx

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 12/04/2011 13:21

yikes- we disappeared for a moment there ! How is your dad hotcross ?
hope you are coping and B is ok. And how are you nine ?

OP posts:
BehindLockNumberNine · 17/04/2011 14:41

Ooooh, I lost you there for a moment - could not find us anywhere!!!

How are the easter holidays going so far? We have had a lovely first week, a combination of relaxing, O has been out with a friend cycling, E has had a friend for a night's wake sleep over, so far so good.

How is your dad hotcross? Hope to hear from you soon!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/04/2011 21:34

nothing terribly exciting here- friend came for the day on Monday,so went out to lunch-then my brother and niece came to stay overnight at mum's-so T was very pleased. We baked some chollah bread which was yummy on one of the days and on Friday went to Ikea in Southampton to look for desk for t plus a chair, lamp etc and generally pottered around there - was fun ! This week- a trip to Basingstoke on tuesday I think and going to MILs on friday.
Have fun and hope all is well with hotcross Smile

OP posts:
BehindLockNumberNine · 18/04/2011 09:48

Oooh, I love Ikea!! Especially the Southampton one Smile

We ended up just pottering in the garden yesterday - we found 3 hydrangeas hidden underneath much bigger plants in the one of the borders so decided to dig them up and make a new border between the lawn and the patio to put them in. Then realised 3 looked a bit sparse so went off to a garden centre (with a stop along the way to collect MIL) to buy two more (off a different variety to add interest)

Dh started his new job today - he had been getting quite fed up in his old job, no chance of promotion, no chance of any interesting work, he felt himself getting stale. So he started looking for a new challenge and this job popped up. For a very small air conditioning company based in Slough. Dh will be based at the Mars Factory in Slough. I have said that is great so long as he gets paid in Maltesers I don't mind Grin The other good thing is that dh won't be required to work so many (if any) weekends which means that we get our family time back. Financially we will be the same roughly, perhaps slightly worse off as there is not the overtime but tbh dh could not have stayed where he was. Fingers crossed this job works out well Smile

E has a friend coming for most of the day today and I am going to make the most of the lovely weather and do a few loads of laundry Smile

Have a nice day Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/04/2011 10:12

garden sounds great !! and lots of luck to dh in his new job- being paid in maltesers sounds pretty good to me !

OP posts:
BehindLockNumberNine · 18/04/2011 17:14

Garden will be great, especially when we have created a new hedge to next door (current one none existant except for young sycamore trees which dh is pulling out, will need to hire a stump remover at some point, and then we are planting it up with laurel hedging, mammoth project), put a gate up to the canal (bankside behind our fence horrendously overgrown, will take months to clear and need to dig/create/build steps as bankside is a good 4 ft higher than our garden, another mammoth project) and level the lawn (currently slopes and has a mount and a dip in the middle Hmm)
Poor O just had to take refuge indoors as he was being hassled/admired by the girl next door (age 12 and in Y7 at the other good secondary in town) and her best friend (also age 12 and at O's secondary school).
Made me Grin as he was trying to build a bmx ramp and they were hanging out of girl next door's bedroom window asking him what he was doing etc.

Dh will be home any minute now. Am on the sofa in front room so I can see him pull into the drive as soon as he arrives. I hope he has had a good day!

E had a lovely time with her friend, they spend virtually the whole day in the garden. They have managed to get incredibly muddy and I feel awful. Friend's dad was visibly shocked at the state his dd had got into Blush
