Hello Hope you're both having lovely holidays. Did you have a good time in Suffolk MAS? Did you go to the same place as last year? Am imagining you on the beach Hippi, I wonder if you've moved or at least are in the final stages of completing? I hope so! Am excited to see your lovely new home!

I've just waved my parents off and collapsed with a huge PHEW! My mum is a very complicated person and we had a few exchanges of words which is never good... She wants to be a true matriarch - the centre of all our worlds - and can't cope if the attention is off her for long Very difficult to live with, and I don't envy my dad at all! However, the duty it done and I can now get on with the summer...

B is going swimming with a neighbour today, so I have a few hours to myself, which is nice

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/08/2010 21:51

I'm back - Suffolk was fab ! sat on the beaches at Southwold & Walberswick - mixed weather, but some really hot sunshine ! T nearly swam in the north sea, just a bit too chilly Grin Same village as last year, but different cottage.
Well done hotcross at surviving mother's visit ! I love mine, but a good deal of wine always helps me stay even tempered !
Hope all is well chez hippi

Hello you two Smile

Well done on surviving the visit hotcross Grin I too have done my duty and visited my parents with the dc in tow. Actually, it was not a duty, we had a fab time Grin The dc even swam in teh North Sea! [too chilly for me though)

Suffolk sounds lovely MAS - glad you had a good time.

Apart from the trip on Holland we have had a busy time. O had a sleepover at his friend J's house, Little S and E did a day camp at the stables and then Little S stayed the night here. We have met up with friends. E is still doing swimming lessons and regular horse riding lessons. O has two half-days of Archery 'camp' next week and we are meeting up with yet more friends Grin

Still no news on the house. We should have exchanged two weeks ago and moved yesterday. That obviously did not happen. Now there is talk of exchanging on Monday. Completion will have to be negotiated though as we are off to Wales for a week on the 14th. Will keep you both posted Smile

hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 07/08/2010 21:56

Oh, meant to add - we went to Ikea today and have fallen in love with a kitchen. Seeing as the house we are buying is crying out for renovation and a single story extention I am now merrily planning and plotting Grin My fave pastime....

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/08/2010 07:52

fingers crossed for exchange today hippi - and the IKEA kitchen sounds v exciting !

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 09/08/2010 08:28

Thanks MAS - I have fingers, toes and everything else crossed too...

New kitchen is v exciting, but the new house is such a wreck (perfectly habitable but stuck firmly in the 70's) I am dreading the months of renovation work (on a very tight budget)
At the moment we are planning a single story extension across the back of the house but I'm sure once we have done all essential work (electrics, plumbing, new carpets, renovate bathroom etc) there will be no money for the extension. May have to live with the house as it is... But still, a girl can dream... Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/08/2010 21:47

it'll all be lovely,you'll see !

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 10/08/2010 08:46

Oh well.

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/08/2010 09:16

hotcrossbunny · 10/08/2010 19:08

Sad oh Hippi, it's such a stressful experience moving. I'm sure you'll get good news soon xxx

I have been thinking of you, but I've been battling a tummy bug, so haven't been around for a few days. MAS I'm glad you had a lovely holiday. We're due to camp next week, but I'm watching the weather forecast with trepidation!

hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 11/08/2010 11:58

WE HAVE EXCHANGED!!!!!!! Moving day is the 27th August.

Woohoo!

Grin Grin Grin Grin

hippipotamiHasLost92lbs · 11/08/2010 12:00

Sorry to hear about your tummy bug hotcross. I have had swollen tonsils and a gland behind my ear came up somewhat painfully. But I put that down to stress.
E however is complaining about earache. We are off to Wales on Saturday and I really hope she does not end up with an ear infection Sad

Weather forecast for Wales is rain too. Bummer. We had quite a few days on-the-coast planned. Have even dug out the kites to take with us. Fingers crossed for good weather.

Where are you going camping?

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/08/2010 13:43

hooray !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so sorry to hear of poorliness hotcross and hippi and E - hope you can all get away camping/to Wales and that the weather is decent. We're going to Notts. to MILs as it's niece's wedding

hotcrossbunny · 11/08/2010 20:46

YAY! YAY! YAY! Fantastic news Hippi! Enjoy your holiday - you can relax a bit now!

Enjoy yourself at the wedding MAS! We must discuss locations sometime as my parents live up that way...

We don't quite know where we're camping. Following a reasonable weather forecast I think! We're hoping to head towards North Devon, all being well, but haven't booked anywhere yetHmm

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/08/2010 15:48

N Devon is great - my db and sil have just camped there this last weekend, overlooking Croyde

Hello Smile
Glad to hear you had a nice time.

We had a FAB time in Wales - absolutely loved it. It was fantastic. We had a bit of troublesome rain on Thursday but other than that the weather was fine.

We have been down a coal mine, extensively enjoyed Cardiff and took a boat to the other side of Cardiff BAy, visited Caerphilly castle both in the day and then went back the next evening to see it lit up (beautiful), walked (or rather climbed and stumbled) up a hill in the Brecon Beacons alongside a waterfall, visited a gorgeous market town on market day and thoroughly enjoyed the athmosphere (and produce!), took a steam train ride through the Brecons at the foot of Snowdonia National Park and visited some caves (relics of slate mining)
It was Brilliant. And the people are so so friendly. Fantastic. Can't wait to go back - in fact we were sad to leave.

Came home to find the boiler had packed up. Typical, now we have to pay to have it fixed / replaced 5 days before we move out!! Oh well....

Have frantically started packing. The whole house is upside down now and there are boxes, bags and suitcases everywhere... Only five more sleeps to go Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/08/2010 19:28

so glad you had a fab holiday, but what a pain about the boiler Sad - lots of luck with packing ... will you email us your new address ? x

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 26/08/2010 09:24

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 27/08/2010 10:53

GOOD LUCK with the move Hippi! Sooooo exciting. Ditto - can you email your new address please??? Hope you managed to get the boiler up and running not too too expensively! Glad your hols were lovely!

We're back early from our camping expeditionSad Unfortunately we had nearly constant rain and when the high winds started, decided we were better off at home... Am on my 5th load of washing... Also B has a sore tummy. She's had it for nearly a week now. Took her to the dr and they've taken a urine sample, but are otherwise baffledSad Will see how it goes.
