OP posts:
McCloudsextoy · 30/09/2009 22:15

Yes, we had no telly in the summer, and we didn't miss it either. How weird! Let's go for utopia girls!!!!!!! Compagna Franca can be our leader!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 22:16

Same here, only a small tv as well in house in the country, small and with no remote control. Remember going upstairs to watch "FAAAAAME!! I WAAANT TO LIIIIVE FOREVER" and wanting to jump on top of taxi cabs too. Was in love with Velasquez .

Having said that my friends children do not have tv in seaside house which means it is still possible McC.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 22:16

off to bed. notte.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 22:17

McC we sound like Maudie Fowler .

McCloudsextoy · 30/09/2009 22:17

Good you spoke to the teacher Camo by the way. Off to bed, night from Compagno McCloud.

McCloudsextoy · 30/09/2009 22:18

Buonanotte Compagna Pippi e Compagna Camo!

Camomilla · 30/09/2009 22:22

yes, no-one ever remembers jessie velasquez! I'm always the only one! was just about to add the no remote too

ah, we were happier kids, doon't you think? but notte compagne, unfortunately it'll be a long one for me as dp not back til 1am (I'm so paranoid when I'm home alone plus very light sleeper so will wake up anyway..)

Camomilla · 30/09/2009 22:27

some memories, seems like yesterday...

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 22:32

Pippi I loved Velasquez too!

My nonna (the one in Piedmont) had a little b/w tv with a grumpy aerial, so it was virtually impossible to watch anything. We didn't even feel the need to watch anything, as after dinner we used to go out to play (on the swings, nascondino, rialzo etc)... BUT... we had to watch the festivalbar... so I remember juggling the aerial to catch Plastic Beltran singing Ping Pong Ping Pong...

Lol at Uomo Tigre, my db loved it!

No, I don't think compagna Franca can be your leader. I'm a conservative leftist, not an anglo saxon neo frugal. I still think - as far as Italy is concerned - that a larger number of women should work.

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 22:35

sorry I forgot a there. Seriously, I think the situation in Italy is really different from the UK... we are a huge step behind...

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 22:38

oh cavolo, re reading my last sentence it really sounds rude, so sorry, not my intention. I totally get the reasoning re consuming less and working less and I agree, but I think it is not that applicable to the current italian situation... or am I barking? Happy to be convinced otherwise

Notte all. And i was very of Nicole. grrrrrr.

Camomilla · 30/09/2009 22:44

notte franca

(I was both Nicole and Coco in my head )

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 22:46

I'm still here. Dh is away and I hate going to bed on my own too. I envied coco's svelte figure...

TheMysticMasseuse · 30/09/2009 22:48

i am too tired to comment properly (blame my new, out of control Wire addiction). but i agree 1000% with everything McC has said tonight i think her analysis of the evils of italian society is spot on. i don't think italy is such a nice place to live anymore. Milano is still ok, Torino, the big cultivated cities in the North... but even rome has become a nightmare, my parents live there in a really expensive neighborrod, and it's full of cafoni incivili, you wouldn't believe the things you see in the street blocks with apartmnets worth several millions where the inquilini leave the trash outside the cassonetti in front of their building, and let their dogs shit all over the marciapiede, kids and old people cared for exclusively by filipino or ukranian badanti, everyone has 2 cars, parked in tripla fila, rich bored teenagers vandalising playgrounds... always a danger to generalise but generally ignorance has become socially accepted and the whole country has replaced education with consumption.

TheMysticMasseuse · 30/09/2009 22:50

ps and i agree that in big cities food has now become expensive and not so good, even the mercati are shutting down, and the quality of the supermarkets is worse than in the UK.

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 22:56

Yes, ignorance is socially accepted, I agree. And I agree about cafoni, consumerism over education. I totally agree.
And the nuveau riche are terrible, even in Milan, trust me. No culture is produced. I live near the Bocconi and I spotted a student who comes every day with a Hammer

But this is also a country where the average person earns 1000 euros a month. It is not always possible to survive on one income.

TheMysticMasseuse · 30/09/2009 23:01

of course it's not possible franca and it is a scandal that such large parts of WORKING society are forced into poverty. yet people still keep voting berlusconi and his cronies (who have eroded the position of workers and pensioners etc)- so i do lose a bit of sympathy frankly.

when i think about the abyss of political and civil engagement in italy i think a military coup or similar is almost inevitable [conspiracy theory emoticon]

ps I went to Bocconi, but didnt have a hummer

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 23:01

Yes and no about the food. Lots of new initiatives in terms of organic food and gas. Esselunga, the owner is a bastard, but the food is better than the average uk supermarket, imo. There wasn't a waitrose where I lived.

Camomilla · 30/09/2009 23:02

she still looks exactly the same! and here, and bruno's got no hair

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 23:05

No, I'm sure you didn't. I had lots of lovely friends who went to Bocconi. I often joined them when they pretended to study in the bar downstairs, but we played scopone scientifico. We got banned by the bidelli for gambling at some stage

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 23:06

a military coup by whom? I'm still terrorized by Kossiga

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 23:10

Oh my goodness Bruno is bald!!!!

Camomilla · 30/09/2009 23:16

poor dd's not herself so now hopefully falling asleep next to me after crying and forcing some calpol down.... guess a mix of teething and vaccin, so my post was a bit out of place there

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 23:19

Bless her... oh how lovely to snuggle up to a sleeping baby

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 23:20

ps: we didn't gamble. But scopone scientifico is considered a gambling game...
