I am thinking along the same lines as you: expensive things will fool the guests !

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 11:27

Javier I think it is time for a whole new name...

TheMysticMasseuse · 09/10/2009 11:29

ciao girls... reckon we're going to get more and more "tories" these days, caliming they have been conservatives all their lives, but just never bothered to say it before .

in the end i decided not to read the tory thread. it will only remind me how much I care about this country, and how sad I am of leaving. I know. it is utterly pathetic...

it's cold today in London. brrr. but at least, on the bright front, dh is coming back tonight

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 11:29

whoa Javier you are back!!!!!!!!!! At last!

TheMysticMasseuse · 09/10/2009 11:30

yes Javier. whole new name. how about "toryboysaintsexy"

JavierBardem · 09/10/2009 11:30

I was using the term disturbato in an exaggerated way.

Can we have recipe for fish stew? Sounds delicious, is it one of those dishes you just throw stuff in and off it cooks itself. I am good at those.

Franca what sort of cream you use in the melanzane thingy you described down below? Single? Double?

TheMysticMasseuse · 09/10/2009 11:31

btw. can you please recommend a really good book, long but not mattone? something along the lines of a suitable boy, family saga type thing, but still reasonably easy to read?

JavierBardem · 09/10/2009 11:33

lol at toryboy!

JavierBardem · 09/10/2009 11:33

Guerra e Pace. Very easy read, and obsessed by Natasha and her numerous suitors.

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 11:37

Javier there's no single or double cream here in italy, just "da montare" or "da cucina"... dunno I'd use the cream?

No, I know disturbato was an iperbole... I don't get all MN about labelling ... but the thing is that I don't know this little boy.

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 11:40

Masseuse what did you make of melissa banks? Am I deranged in liking her in a sort of light weight novel kind of thing?

I've just bought this: www.qlibri.it/narrativa-italiana/romanzi/una-bambina-sbagliata/, as recommended by a friend.

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 11:41

Have to go and get my dc from school, 'later!

JavierBardem · 09/10/2009 11:42

Loved M Banks! both of her novels, such a laugh.

Rosa · 09/10/2009 12:53

Send me some of those picky starters - yummy !
Welcome back Javier ...I would have put MC as a tory to be honest he is the right age grown up in a tory background probably tory education kind of thing...Not wanting to stereotype anybody however .......
Mrosa mega sweats last night and her temp dropped to below normal so I am guessing she was shaking it off . FIrst time today she awoke with a smile I cried !!!! ( hormones and lack of sleep me thinks!)NIce paed said I am to call him if temp goes over 38 anche sabato / domenica...bless.
Can't help on books as reading anything other than Felicity the fairy or the cat in the hat for me is too much!

lol at Tory Mcloud. Am for you javier but admire you sticking by your principles!
Franca just seen you on Obama thread and am picking myself up off the floor at the Obama turns US to socialism comment. So these people actually exist . Nice response though.
I am having a stepfordy afternoon as my vacuum storage bags have arrived so am going to sort out all clothes, duvets etc. Am also going to bake brownies for a fund raising cake sale tomorrow(Gio preens in a self satisfied Bree Desperate Housewife type way). Have decided work has been so crap this week I am going to pretend this pm I don't work to put myself in a good mood for the weekend!

gio71 · 09/10/2009 13:00

Good news Rosa! I am the same on books at the moment, I am going through a stage on re-reading my childhood favourites

Rosa · 09/10/2009 13:05

Gio the other day on Amazon I saw Mallory Towers books and I was soooo tempted.
Do you think Minirosa would suffer if I bought her an activity table in french and English? On Amazon there is one on offer for £22 ( plus postage but I can ALWAYS justify that )Chicco one here is EUro 60 FGS.
I mentioned this to SIL / MIL and I got poverina 'gia devi imparare 2 'reply.
Well done at Brownies Dd1 and I will do muffins later I think as it looks like rain ( we need it here as it has been foggy/ humid for last week and Dh work has been a nightmare !)
WHen is Ds birthday its soon no?

OP posts:
gio71 · 09/10/2009 13:13

loved Mallory Towers-I am re-reading Chalet School at the mo
DS birthday and party on Sunday. lol at gia devi imparare 2 reply - sounds VERY familiar.
Dont think she'd suffer at all!

TheMysticMasseuse · 09/10/2009 13:17

I think, Javier, that you are a lot more intellectual than I am. I found W&P the most boring book i have ever read. all those battles [yaaawn]

may give the first melissa banks a go. the best line from her book for me was

sister: so how are things between you and girlfriend?
brother: she's given me an ultimatum
s: ?
b: you either shit or get off the pot
s: and?
b: I think i'm gonna have to shit

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 13:36

Gio, I couldn't resist! I'm happy he's won the nobel prize just because this will irritate those Republicans (and berlusconi, who is envious) sooooo much

Javier I didn't know you were a M Banks fan! (or did I? and can't remember? boh!)

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 13:37

Masseuse, how's your dh settling in in switzerland?

Rosa · 09/10/2009 13:40

SO the news tonight on mediaset will go ..
'Obama has won the peace prize and Berlusconi arse licker his personal friend phoned him personally to congratulate him on his good fortune.

hi everyone! Glad to hear miniP and miniR are better. very impressed with all the cooking!!

DD still refusing me - actually, yesterday she got jealous when I hugged dp so she pushed me away and wanted him to carry her all the time!! so tonight will go against dp's preference and keep her downstairs with me

trying to remember all the convos you've had! so, school mums - a lot of grezze here (of all ages!), some "normal", breakfast club time you see the "professionals". there are a couple I say hello, and might have a quick chat - one's not even of DS's class, a few others from DS's class I might exchange polite lines, but they're all in cliques so as soon as s.one of their group arrives apparently I become invisible. Similar reward system here too JB, and DS proudly announced that him and another boy (one that I like, and son of a mum I like) both have 7 stickers and are in the lead .

Bucharest, can only imagine the potential replies...

pippi, is DD2 teething? friend's DD always had to be taken to hospital in similar ways, and coincidentally within a few days a new tooth will emerge. she hasn't had an attac since she finished teething (she's 6 now)

lol at Il Duce

JB - was thinking about you on wed night - there was a film with JB on very late, looking very handsome

think I've said everything...

Camomilla · 09/10/2009 13:54

btw, I thought McC was blue as well...

and I only like Earl grey and "funny" teas too, but keep "proper" tea for guests/PIL

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 15:17

oh poor minicamo, they do go through funny stages... you need to "strapazzarla di coccole", like topo gigio used to sing.
