Starting schools, North vs South and books ...ci siamo !

OP posts:

Hi everyone! lol at the grezze!

At my school seeing the head is for very serious misdeamenours, they have a whole system of rewards and punishments, and from what I can tell the kids get rewarded a LOT with stickers and special cards, etc.

But I think it is a very good class, even the disturbed kids have come in leaps and bounds. The teacher said with the little ones so far nobody has been sent to the headmistress. So either you have real pitas in your class, or they use the going to the headmistress at the drop of a hat. But I would not worry. How is bigpippi going? Do you have a good feeling about her class? Can you spot the pitas at the school gate? I have refined my pita detector, can spot a bully 10m away!

I had to laugh at simultaneous stepfordish quality of Pippi and Franca's posts. Very funny. lol

I also had to fish out dirty school uniform for bigmc this am as we had run out. He kept saying but it's dirty, it's dirty. And me, noooo, it's fine, i made a mistake. Hard to be a stepford. Thought of Pippi.

McCloudsextoy · 09/10/2009 10:02

also i suppose it is good to nip bad behaviour in the bud!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 10:15

I did asked you because i was not bothered one bit and wondered if I should have been.(And secretely the Rottermeier in me was quite pleased also because atm dd1 has got no chance of going to HM as she is such a 'goody goody yes Miss - and a bit of a snitch from what she told me, i.e. "Mamma a boy kicked all the glue and I run run run to the teacher and told her ) but some mums were a bit up in arms.

Well I did not think there were any particularly bad one in her class. And so said bigpippi: "non c'e' nessun bimbo cattivo mamma per fortuna" (note the sexist bimbo and not bimba LOL).

I think that this might have happened 1. because they are now a bit paranoid due to the last ofsted rep saying that the school needs to discipline more due to a couple of kids in upper years being very disruptive and other parents very fed up 2. they want to instill good behaviour from the beginning to avoid future issues.

Also you cannot really listen to the mums as it is often a case of "my PFB could not have possibly done that!"" and who knows what going to the headmistress really entitles at this stage. They do implement a very good reward system so I am not worried.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 10:15

did ask*

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 10:16

I thought you might be a dirty basket uniform fisher McC !

minervaitalica · 09/10/2009 10:18

Great to hear that MiniRosa/Pippi are doing better. I guess we are in for a long winter of colds etc. Actually I do not dread winters that much in Italy - out here there is still good chance of sunshine, and most of all we can go sledging/skiing (e.g. no plane required to see mountains. Pennines do not count).

Now scared of sending MiniMI to school - do I really want them to mix up with grezze? I should probably start a thread on MN

And the equation Fini=Brutus (so true) is not doing anything to cure my weirdo attitudes... Help!

McCloudsextoy · 09/10/2009 10:27

Can I ask little Italy how do you feel about 6 year old girls wearing make up at a birthday party? By makeup i mean light pink lipstick and a bit of blusher, possibly a bit of eye shadow.

You can ask to see their disciplinary policy, to see exactly what you have to do to be sent to see the headmaster...

lol at being a snitch!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 10:34

will do McC. There are so many things I should ask just to get to know the system better. I should also go to the friday coffee mornings as you learn a lot from the chit chat.

I would not approve of make up. I can only approve of make up when it is a 'game' (see face looking like a clown because they have done it themselves) but not when used as a mean to be prettier. Same goes for high heeled shoes, also seen on 4yo feet at parties.

anyone remember Truccosetti? Oh how much I wanted them. Then I got them and thought "what was all the fuss about?" and went back playing cowboys! We were not allowed to wear make up even during carnival.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 10:35

McC I did miss you !

Off to make 'Baked egg custard with blackberry compote'! Should be a minute.

minervaitalica · 09/10/2009 10:43

Damon - I thought you did not like cooking so much, but boy you have been doing quite a lot in the last few days!

Make-up on 6 year old is not on I am afraid. Do approve of make-up during Carnival though, and Labello!!!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 10:55

I would approve of make up for carnival too, in fact I'd give anything to be able to celebrate carnival .

MI, I liked cooking when young. Didn't cook from 18 to 30. Hated to cook after met dh. Now kind of like it. Not a good cook at all though - excellent for the likes of dh who is a quantity meaty chilli kind of man luckily for me but rubbish by any basic italian standards. Not enough patience and not refined enough I am afraid. Dh much better at cooking for guests so xmas dinner and such likes always on him while a sip wine and chat. unfortunately as he is working this evening is down to me. wish me luck with my fish stew.

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 10:55

Oh hello.
It rained today and I had to walk a lot, as they were no buses due to a manifestazione. I've ben to the fishmonger and bought posh fish, reckoning that if the fish is already very good, I can't ruin it too much...
So here's tonight menu:
sformato di porri
cavolo romano (but the greengrocer has finished them so it will have to be a more "common" cauliflower) dressed with olive oil, garlic, anchovies and capers from salina
insalata mista
pezzonia in the oven with potatoes and pomodorini.
How does that sound?

Pippi, I wouldn't worry about the head teacher thing. Surely if they have a god reward etc system in place the head teacher must be a last resort. You won't believe what children do... last year a compagno of ds smuggled some fiammiferi in the school and try to set some wood on fire when they were in the garden .
And then I'm starting to think that parents go up in arms to easily nowadays.

Buch well done for telling off!

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 10:57

sorry for lots of mistakes... though a "god reward" is actually quite good

No, I don't approve of make up either.

glad that minipippi had a good night!

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 10:59

lol at labello!!!

Pippi have you got "cuochi si diventa" by Allan Bay? It's very good. I've decided I'll try a recipe a week, just to learn more...

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 10:59

that's a real dinner menu! my hat to you dear franca it remind me of my mum's dinners. Sformato ahhhh have not had one in ages and used to love it. Can I have recipe pls pls????? Might try one day. Loved sformato di patate too.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 11:00

minipippi has been calling me for ages and I've ignored as mnetting tidying up for tonight .

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 11:05

OMG barack Obama has won the nobel per la pace! I'm so !!!

Pippi, I'll let you know if I'll actually succeed in making a decent dinner... I'm not so sure!

Recipe (from Allan Bay) x 6 people
saltate 12 porri a rondelle in una padella con poco olio per circa 6 minuti. Tritateli
Incorporate 500 g besciamella, 6 uova e 100 gr parmigiano
sale e pepe
versare in una teglia foderata con carta da forno cuocere al forno 180 gradi x 40 mins. servire caldo.

easy peasy (I hope !

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 11:06

Mccloud, there is a thread in news with people discussing whether the real mccloud is actually a tory !

McCloudsextoy · 09/10/2009 11:13

easy peasy my bum, I would screw up this sformato, would become a grumosa mess. my problem I do not even understand recipes. [gormless emoticon]

can i have your menu pippi?

lol at quantity of meat kinda of guy, dp exactly the same.

no, i am also very disapproving of make up for girls, glad that i have not lost totally the plot.

fiammiferi in the playground????? that's a bit disturbato, would expect it at a school here in the Bronx though, but so far no, but not in Milano. i think i may have a very rose tinted view of life in italy.

McCloudsextoy · 09/10/2009 11:15

What????? I would have to change my name. How dare he be a blue? Where is teh thread? [battagliero emoticon]

He was so sweet on the show saw last night, he layed his hand gently on the bum of the statue of Venus in the Uffizi. [sbavando emoticon]

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 11:20

my meny is: focaccia, smoked salmon, taramasalata etc help yourselves tipe of starters. Fish stew with crusty bread and wild rice. Baked custard with blackberries.

I am scared...

must check the nobel.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/10/2009 11:21

menY ?

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 11:23

Lol lol lol at touching gently the bum of the statue !!!

I'm not sure if this is a bambino disturbato or not. I don't think it's unheard of young boys being attracted by fiammiferi and fire, it's quite a rite of passage I suppose (though as a child I've always been scared by fire and I'm still wary of matches )...

francaghostohollywood · 09/10/2009 11:25

mmmm that sounds delicious pippi! I love wild rice. Must buy some.

JavierBardem · 09/10/2009 11:26

The real Mc was allegedly addressing a Tory conference. Until he clears his name Javier is back. Someone on that thread said she likes even more if he is a Tory.

Must be a smear but in the meantime....
