I HAVE STARTED A LITTLE ITALY THREAD!!!!

hooray for me!!!

OP posts:
Sputnik · 13/09/2009 21:03

Yes welcome back Pippi
I discovered the W&P I have is abridged, that would be cheating, wouldn't it? I have also realised that all this moving house business has been really stressing me out, so at the moment I'm on light stuff that doesn't require an attention span or anything.

Sputnik · 13/09/2009 21:05

Meant to add I never iron anything unless I'm ebaying it. I dry lots of things on hangers and DH uses non-iron shirts.

Camomilla · 13/09/2009 21:07

yes and no, franca, must do thihs a/form tom, at least I am starting to do the job now, so less boring, but I know it's not what I want to do, though it'd be "easier" than the one I want, you know, very admin stuff, ccan really do it at night if i wnated to

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2009 21:10

No we deffo didn't have a travel system. Lifting that carrycot you can use as a car seat would have killed me. I preferred waking them up! Also, as I don't drive I used to just pop them in the pram and walk to the shops/friends etc.

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 21:11

Lol at the abridged version. Tempting.

Goodness, what a waste changing bags, and don't get me started on foot muffs! all they want is for you to buy useless stuff...waaaahhhh! And toys too, goodness they annoy me too. I wish I could become minimalist.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 13/09/2009 21:11

I admit it I have chickened out of War and Peace. I saw the size of it in italy and thought "You must be kidding me!!".
If I had brought that back I'd have left behind steaks and sausages for dh, his present, another shitload of books for me and the children, 4 pairs of primigi shoes and god know what else.
Maybe I'll find a cheap english one but I am a bit put off tbh. Maybe you all will convince me it is a good idea. I still have to finish the Alice Munro as too busy partying in italy to be intellectual . and got a few new and old italian ones.

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2009 21:12

Yes, I see what you mean camo

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 21:14

A friend bought me a box especially designed where i can put the wipes when i am out and about. Straight to the charity shop, surely I can just carry the baby wipes in their own original box without faffing about moving them? As if I had the bloody time..

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2009 21:14

well done pippi for having partied in Italy

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 13/09/2009 21:14

yup, I have used a changing bag probably 3 times. useless thing. and I am proud to say I have never owned or used a foot muff. would a thick blanket not do the same job?

Camomilla · 13/09/2009 21:14

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm salsicce........

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2009 21:16

lol mccloud.
Yes, with hindsight there are plenty of things you don't need with babies.
My mother used to criticize me because I didn't have a changing bag. I'm not a changing bag kind of person.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 13/09/2009 21:16

yes... proper ones. we had pasta col sugo e salsicce. dh loves me big time tonight.

Camomilla · 13/09/2009 21:18

i have big bags, so they always double as changing bags.

pippi, stop it, now my tummy's rumbling for costa, salsiccia e polenta!

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 21:18

Poor Tolstoy will be having a fit! You preferred him to a pile of sausages? What a philistine! This is a real Sophie's Choice: What would you save from destruction. A copy of W&P or 1 kilo di salsiccie. Now, I know where Damon stands.

I will start tonight, which probably means I will have a really early night...

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 21:19

Stop it now Damon!

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 21:22

Lol at being killed by the carrycot/carseat! I can see the DMail headline aboujt it.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 13/09/2009 21:33

anybody read Anna Kerenina?

well yes poor tolstoy, but I bet he'd have understood. and in my defense I brought back about 15 books so despite the partying and the salsicce I have retained a bit of credibility, no?

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2009 21:40

I read anna karenina, some 20 yrs ago. I really enjoyed it.

Which books did you get?

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 21:44

Maybe if you throw a sausage this way, your credibility will increase.

Yes, what books did you get?

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 21:44

AK is very good, read it 20 years ago as well..without skipping chapters.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 13/09/2009 21:46

got:
Ginzburg La Citta' e la casa,
Soldati La sposa Americana,
Saviane La donna di Legno,
Scarpa Stabat Mater,
Ginzburg Sagittario,
Saviano La Bellezza e L'Inferno,
Mastroccola Palline di pane,
Molnar I ragazzi di via Pal

My mum suggested Anna Karenina. Sounds like a good winter book and not as daunting as War and peace.

I have not totally abandoned you though, I don;t think I can start it before october.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 13/09/2009 21:47

McC I am a bit like S De B with all her books in her suitcase no?

mind you she did not have to travel with Ryanair with 2 children (one of them dd2) and 3 handluggages and a pram.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 13/09/2009 21:48

sorry girls sausages and steaks all gone!

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 21:50

WOOOOOW ! EVERYTHING IS FORGIVEN! can i borrow la citta e la casa when you are done with it? Is Sagittario a play? May have to borrow that as well. I am very excited about your books.
