Ok Gio, my brain has suddenly engaged and Bingo! All your Thomas needs.
I bought some playmobil from this lot in the summer, they were great and the stuff arrived by corriere in 2 or 3 days.

gio71 · 11/09/2009 16:52

Sputnik you are fantastic!! Just made the mistake of looking at site with DS though who has gone beserk at all the TTTE possibilities he didn't know existed. That is a great find of a website! When are you off to your mountain Sput? I envy you having a weekend retreat...

Sputnik · 11/09/2009 16:55

You are welcome!
Off soonish, although it'll probably involve sitting in traffic for hours....

Sputnik · 11/09/2009 16:56

I would go crazy here otherwise

McCloudsextoy · 11/09/2009 20:47

www.partypieces.co.uk/pages/search/search.asp?txtSearch=thomas&submitflag=true&ctgry=PartyPieces&ser ial=09091174728428178

Party pieces are pretty cheap. for instance less than 3 quid for 8 Thomas plates!

Camomilla · 11/09/2009 21:46

hi everyone! on the sofa with new tiny laptop on my knees! fantastic (the other one is bigger so not as comfy as this one to have on for a long MN session!).

oh, fame, I remember catching reruns on R2 one of the last times I was in italy, I just wanted to be coco, she was good at everything...

SuiGeneris · 12/09/2009 07:12

Hi everyone, may I join you? I have been lurking foir a while but have not had much to contribute yet. Not sure how you go about introductions, but I am Italian, have lived in London for 10 years and expecting our first baby for January.
We have just started looking at prams/pushchairs and I am absolutely stunned at the price (and attitude) difference between here and Italy. For example, we looked at a complete system in Italy, were shown all of it, its accessories etc by the most helpful shop assistant ever and the complete cost (carrycot that goes in the car, pushchair, 0+ car seat, footmuff, changing bag) was 599 euros. Same model (rebranded) in the UK costs 858 pounds if you get the same things (which are all extras ). I am thinking of buying in Italy and shipping over, it must be cheaper. Has anyone else done that?

McCloudsextoy · 12/09/2009 16:40

Hi SG welcome, where do you live? A bit quiet here today, don't know anything about prams, we have always bought 2nd hand or inherited from friends, the prices you quote seem absurdly steep, I am sure somebody will come along who can advice you though.

Lovely day here in London.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 12/09/2009 20:26

I am back! I have had a fantastic holiday. Out every night and lots of great things during the day with the kids.

Shame I have missed all that GC BP discussion. I have never had any suspicion about either of them. Am I totally naive?

Welcome SG! I know nothing re pram except the one we got ages ago was very dear. Luckily it did serve us well for over 4 years. Maybe a cheaper model would have done the same job though. Have no idea re prices compared to Italy. All I can say is I just got back from Italy and I am uttelry shocked at the prices of everything (except for eating out). Everything seemed very expensive especially children stuff. Boh!

McCloudsextoy · 12/09/2009 20:58

Hello Damon you lucky girl!
Watching a McCloud rerun, utterly hooked!

McCloudsextoy · 12/09/2009 21:09

It is the episode with the couple who instead of splitting up because they are obviosuly depressed with each other, decide to knock all the walls down of their beautiful Victorian cottage. Gripping stuff. Only today i found out that you can watch McCloud online on Channel 4 Catch up. Not sure if it would work abroad though. Can you tell that i am very excited?

Rosa · 13/09/2009 14:37

QUick post before minirompe wakes up ... Hi Sue I gues syou are talking about M&P or Peg erego. It is much cheaper in Italy I agree. However I bought a Bugaboo Bee in the Uk and saved a fortune her it is Euro 500 and I paid £240 plus £25 postage to Italy. I would work out what you really need as I am not sure that the tris systems are really worth it in the end and also check maybe with which that the make of car seat used is reaòòy safe as some of the 0+ car seats diddn't do very well.
We can't get I player or any of that here but McCloud seems to be re running again and again on Sky plus seeing as I have met him anyway ..............
Pippi so glad you had a good time with and without the dds I am still up to eye balls here and don't seem to breathe. Every pm it is ironing or floor washing or bathroom cleaning ...talking of which must do.
DH says he took a celeb today not sure who somebody who is a Brit but speaks Italian ...Boh said he was very nice though.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 13/09/2009 18:03

'Every pm it is ironing or floor washing or bathroom cleaning' Oh Rosa, poor you, I think you caught the italian clean freak bug ! No way I could wash floor everyday and I do not even iron, ever. As it is I feel up to my eyeball. I do clean bathroom everyday though...just!
In total honesty though when I came back to italy (from houses in which the cleaner is in everyday for most of the day) my lovely home seemed a pig sty! I have adjusted immediately though .

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 13/09/2009 18:08

Rosa was the Bee a good buy then? What did you use for the first few months? Friend in italy is about to have baby and asked me advise on prams. From what age could you use a Bee? Would you need to buy something else for the first few months? Also do they do Moses Baskets in italy? If not what do they use apart from cot?
I am not sure that my Bugaboo with all the bits was that worth it. I loved it but wouldn't I have loved something else cheaper and smaller. These days with dd2 I seem to prefer cheapo second hand 5quid Chicco because it's smaller and lighter.
Sorry all these question are for my italian friend.

McC ciao. I am not ignoring you .

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 19:46

No, I don't iron either, ever! And after reading this post I realise why my bathroom alwayws has a foul smell, so I AM going to clean it every day whilst dd has her bath. But ironing is deffo an Italian thing, I don't think any of my English friendsk do it. I do feel overwhelmed as it is as well.

Now dcs in bed till tomorrow, hurrahhhhhh! May watch an old Grand Designs.

When are we starting with War and Peace girls? Hope yoiu are not chickening out.

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 19:51

This is great and comfy and very light. Had it for ds. Lasted 4 years and we used it loads!

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 19:59

Should i start w&p tonight then?

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2009 20:31

OMG rosa, I think your dh must have taken
COLIN FIRTH!!!!!!!!!!!
He was at the mostra, he even won a prize as best actor and does speak very good italian, as he's married to an Italian !

Hello and welcome Suigeneris. Unfortunately I can't advise on travel system etc, as we had a carrozzina/passeggino and then I basically used the Chicco Caddy, which is perfect when baby is around 9 months.

Pippi glad you had a lovely holiday. We've just come back from Tuscany as I was the witness to dear, dear friend's wedding. We had a lovely time.

Not sure things are more expensive here. I think there are more shops that sell expensive things.

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 20:40

Yes, sounds like him! But find him a bit dull. George on the other hand.......[hot and bothered emoticon]

Franca are you joining us for war an dpeace?

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2009 20:48

Yes, I agree... george.... wearing his green zoccoli and the camice in er.... mmmmm

btw, yes, I think I'll join you.

McCloudsextoy · 13/09/2009 20:53

oh, brill! it is really going to be a "let's see who gives up first."

Camomilla · 13/09/2009 20:55

hello and welcome SG!

I wrote a long reply yesterday, but not here . Anyway, yes, pushchairs more expensive here, then I really got fed up with looking, had to get one as mum was here to buy it so got the graco travel system, did very well with 3 dcs, but around 9months got a macclaren, though DS has always been a very good walker (hated puschair, would rather walk), dd's the same, not walking yet, but mainly in sling. I'd love a stokke or bee, but I know I wouldn't have used them enough.

pippi! welcome back! franca, wedding in tuscany...

McC, no, can't watch c4 OD, or bbc iplayer, but you tube has loads, DB's always watching top gear on it.

rosa, wish I had a tenth of your vogli di pulire! but the pile of stuff that needs ironing is calling me... trying to resist it, but too much now..

Camomilla · 13/09/2009 20:58

can't find my w&p (the things that this housse seems to eat ..) was going to start on chekhov short stories, but might have a go at w&p if I find a cheap copy tomorrow now that I seem to be on a roll again (read a book in 3 days last wk - hence the ironing )

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2009 20:58

lol, yes, Mccloud

Hello camo, how's it going at work? Are you settling?

Sputnik · 13/09/2009 20:59

Hi Suigeneris (and everyone else)
Hmm, travel systems, we had an expensive Jane one, with a carrycot that supposedly went in the car, although I read they were extremely unsafe across the back of the seat, so we never used it for that. They did both sleep in that though for the fist couple of months, which was useful as you could move them about.

The car seat that clips on was useful but apparently not recommended these days as they should be flat as much as possible.

However with DS I hardly used it as it's big and heavy and I got a £50 Mclaren off Kiddicare which is much easier. So all in all not sure big travel systems are worth it. Depends a bit on how you plan to br using it, your house, car etc.
Don't get me started on changing bags.
