I HAVE STARTED A LITTLE ITALY THREAD!!!!

hooray for me!!!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 17:01

Oh no Minerva, you are not rambling (how can you not like Keanu and Kevin )

I agree that Italian women are more discriminated than their peers in the rest of Europe (I know more than one person who was asked if they intended to have children in their near future in a job interview ... these questions are frequently asked both my italian or foreign employers ), childcare is not sufficient (though I think most council nurseries in Milan are excellent quality) and salaries are laughable.
Well young people in general are paid a pittance in Italy.
It's a country for old men!!!

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 17:06

ps Mcc no idea what happened to De Michelis, but I still remember with a Sabina Guzzanti as "Grazia De Michelis" singing the song "Do ut Des" in La TV delle Ragazze...

La tivu delle ragazze was a fine example of no tette and no culi and lots of really good comedians... good old rai3 in the late 80s was good (leftie emoticon)

Camomilla · 21/09/2009 17:18

agree agree agree minerva...

was about to say that KM does not give interviews as as soon as she opens her mouth she makes jordan sound like she should be a lecturer at cambridge. No, can't stand her...

so, went to get my contacts today, so took the opportunity to go to the cheap book shop next door... and it's closed down! so ended up in waterstones and got W&P (scared DS off with that one ) as I can't find the one I have, but at least this one is nice and compact, well as compact as 1400 pages can be... was going to start it now while I was having a cup of tea - the new conservatory is sooooo perfect for reading, but DP is in there fitting new shelves.

Rosa, McC was at Redentore and in a run-down building that's being rennovated, and on the mud watching people picking cappe lunghe... next week is going to florence and rome in an old red fiat 500 (DP already likes him, though not in the same way as our McC, and when he saw him in the 500 he has even more respect for him - DP being passionate about old 500, ciao and ape...)

DD's awake.. 'later

Rosa · 21/09/2009 17:20

If I say Colpo Grosso... I can remember being just that it was permitted on tv at any time..
I like Daria as well her show I think is good , simple and well done she knows her stuff. Mind you its been ages since I caught any of it.
I also like the Can 5 news reader not the one that did verissimo ( but she is ok ) but the other one she did a really good interview on somebodies show saying that ormai she is ancient and will be replaced by a younger version as that is what draws the viewers ......
We have played the shove everything in a cupboard game ..will be fun domani its steamy and I have put the AC away think we must be due the storm .
Will posta pic of dh cake Dd1 did it and it is lovely. Also today minirosa said papa not once but twice so that has made dh birthday. ( she has been saying mamma e mummummm for a bit now )
ANd to really annoy MIL she waves when you say bye bye but not mastered ciao yet !

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 17:25

lol rosa at waving at bye bye and not ciao

Oh Cesara Buonamici you mean? She's nice. The other one is Cristina Parodi, can't stand her, she always makes programs for the pope.

Colpo Grosso was funny . Me and friends watched it thinking it was very post modern ...
Cin cin cin cin riempimi di baci cin cin cin cin assaggia e poi mi dici cin cin cin cin diventeremo amici, brinda alla fortuna festeggia con me

Bucharest · 21/09/2009 17:30

I like Cesara too, what's wrong with her eyes does anyone know? One looks false. Christina Parodi has the strangest tanned decollete I've ever seen. It truly looks like a brown crepe bandage has been sewn onto her front....

OK, lovely Italian-esque MNers...dd will be having birthday party at "gonfiabile" hellhole next week, for which we pay lots and get some food, but we have to supplement the food from outside...this year, in economy drive am hoping to make most of this myself....now am not used to catering for Italian tastes (I hate mayonnaise and tonnata for a start, euuuuuuw to slop of any kind in sandwiches)

Make me a list of things I can do lovely ladies......
Minipizza things
Sandwiches (what inside?)
Panini (idem)
Wurstel in pastry (boak- but the smalls love them)

Helllllp..and ta muchly in advance....

PS Kate Moss is just plain fugly IMO.

McCloudsextoy · 21/09/2009 17:33

good on you camo with w&p - i am still enthusiastic!

they were talking of briatore on the radio, another fine example of a fine & attractive Italian man .

what happened to the veline case and what was the gregoracci involvement? gregoracci and briatore are really the perfect couple!

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 17:35

Keep things simple.
Mini pizza
Panini (here in northern italy panini all latte are favoured for children parties, what's the norm there?) al prosciutto cotto, salame e crudo, that's the average.
Can you make pop corn? That goes down well too.

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 17:36

Oh Britore what an arse. They are apparently expecting a child together. Poor baby.

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 17:37

Ah Bucharest how about making choc chip cookies?

Bucharest · 21/09/2009 17:39

What the feckity is a panino all latte?
Unfortunately, the norm down here, is way OTT in my experience so far (which remember, has been private nursery- so all wanna-VIPs trying to outdo each other with strawberries hand dipped in chocolate sauce and other such daft paraphenalia.....)

Will get a couple of the lovely focaccia from the panificio, various panini, no "sandwichy" sandwiches as they go all floppy.....

(the last party we went to, there were 8 different dolce alone)

(we didn't bother with dolce at all lol)

Bucharest · 21/09/2009 17:40

None of the kids eat anything but crisps anyway (although the mothers all scuttle round after them trying to shove panini in their mouths as they run past...) It's the parents who fill their doggy bags to take home.

Gah, why are birthdays so stressful?

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 17:41

at OTT.

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 17:51

no panini? really? Mine have scoffed a panino al salame per merenda!

minervaitalica · 21/09/2009 18:02

Bucharest, you could be adventurous and try some British specialities? Hummous and carrots will get the parents talking for months...

BTW, Franca, what do your friends answer when asked whether they want to have children? Honestly, I have never been asked that - what do you say?

BTW, Briatore has been radiato dalla Formula 1. About time - slimey slimey...

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 18:14

That they thought they might want to have some in the future.

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 18:15

Some went totally and were lost for words!

Camomilla · 21/09/2009 20:31

bucharest, I second panini al latte, e pizzette, otherwise a great success at both kids and adult parties/dinners is rotolini of bread/philadelphia/crudo o cotto. you can make them the day before and as they're bite-size they're easy for little fingers.

need to go see what ds wants, will have a think about dolci

Rosa · 21/09/2009 20:48

Bucharest if you have a good panificio get them to make the focaccia in the shape of the number of years do one slightly dolce and fill with nutella the other normale and fill with cotto or whatever then leave the mums to chp off what size bits they want. - For teh last 2 years the nutella one has gone mega fast !
Dolce - cheat get those Buitoni ready made cookies and slice them half horizontally and then vertically cook for about 7 mins no more they are bite size and taste good !
Buy ready made pan di spagna spread a thin layer of buter icing - (if you can be arsed before doing that slice in middle and put in strawberry jam.) sprinkle sprinkles on top ...lots and then cut into bite sized cubes.
I buy ready made salatini from the freezer section and cook . MAke own pizette and wutstel things though........
So Brigatore is going to be a daddy eh ....Well he has set a good example to his child.........

Sputnik · 21/09/2009 20:56

Those extra small panini al latte with 3 kinds of ham/salami in them are a staple at parties here too. They are always wrapped in cligfilm. DD loves them.
Errrm... torta salata? Buy readymade pastry and shove on a filling.
You need Rosa.
I wouldn't go overboard on the food tbh, the kids never seem to be that bothered!

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 20:59

Great ideas! I will copy them all. My dc usually eat loads at parties!
Sput how are the school runs going?

I have to rilegare ds's text books... and dh is playing football. I need help, I'm crap at this kind of things

Sputnik · 21/09/2009 21:02

Brilliant Rosa, what did I say

Sputnik · 21/09/2009 21:05

School runs I am getting used to it, and driving like a Roman already. Seem to have got faster, so not to different from what I was doing before. If there's traffic going back I stop at the supermarket.

francagoestohollywood · 21/09/2009 21:09

at driving like a roman

DelGirl · 21/09/2009 21:10
