I HAVE STARTED A LITTLE ITALY THREAD!!!!

hooray for me!!!

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 15/09/2009 22:19

Merci pour le chocolat

francagoestohollywood · 15/09/2009 22:21

Oh I've never seen it.

Ok it's good night davvero now

Bucharest · 16/09/2009 08:14

And it's good morning from me!
Bloomin dp told me he'd checked (with his penis extension remote control) and DD definitely not on last night so we sat through hours of interminable SuperPippoInzaghi yawn football screaming and shouting and then, when I finally get hold of the remote at 11pm, we're at the "no-one puts Baby in a corner" bit. Pfffffft.

I only wear comfy shoes, but am old, and giantess to boot.....

I think teaching little ones anything is better than teaching big ones. I don't necessarily think you need more patience either.....little ones tend to love you whatever, whereas big ones get all teenagery and stroppy (even the 40 yr olds)

minervaitalica · 16/09/2009 09:48

Good morning!

Lol at the remote control fight... Thankfully DH hates football - my personal hell is Formula one though...

Love the nun dress - pity I would look like a sausage in it. And plus I am a "tappo" so dresses look funny anyway. Jealous of giantesses...

Sputnik · 16/09/2009 09:55

And me
I like that dress, I have a thing about wooly dresses in general actually, and can't wait to get mine out. If you are worried about lumpiness then these are good.
Anyway 2 positive things this morning: I got to wear my boots and I have a new client. Might venture onto Amazon now

Sputnik · 16/09/2009 09:59

Meant to add you can nearly always find a 20% off code for figleaves.

Camomilla · 16/09/2009 10:25

same here sputnik, love knitted dresses wib thick tights, I have an off-white one, and 3 black ones (they're all different, promised!), latest I bought it last week, might wear it tomorrow... and I've seen another one I really like too (grey)... actually, my whole winter wardrobe is grey and black ... well, if I get red shoes, they'll go with everything! I'm a tappo too, friend used to say I'm alta un metro e una ciliegia, friend's 13 yo daughter is taller than me!!

see, should be doing the a-form... it's kind of half done (will copy from one I did last year) but just found out I can't claim I have one of the "essential criteria", as an assistant, but not directly, but I know I could do the job with my eyes closed, it's my old job ffs!!

McCloudsextoy · 16/09/2009 10:48

Penthe, I think hat would suit you, very pretty.

I like non nun dress, lol at looking like a sausage.

And that link to Swiss telly, pmsl.

Have to go dd pulling sitting room apart, cannot wait for her nap...

francagoestohollywood · 16/09/2009 13:57

Hello everyone,
Sputnik congrats on your new client!!!

Lol at penis extension telecomando. What was up with the football yesterday night btw, dh even watched 10 minutes of horrible journo Mosca whatshisface (Minerva, I agree, I find Formula 1 telecronache mostly depressing and boring).

Camo I send you vibes for your form!!!

It's the third day of heavy rain here in Milan... ... I'm getting fed up, and I don't have new pair of boots to flaunt about.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 16/09/2009 14:11

Love the dress MM. Will even steal your idea, a la McC, and go and try it out one day. My entire winter wardrobe is black or gray too.

This year I want a pair of simple black biker boots. Anyone seen any good ones about?

Someone asked me about DD1's school situation. She is starting on friday. Not at those two I really wanted but at 3rd choice. I am sure she will be happy there: lots of friends and good report - but just big and chaotic. Boh, I am not convinced yet. We will see. I take every day as they come. I hope I'll be proved wrong.

gio71 · 16/09/2009 14:53

congrats on client Sputnik, what are you doing? website design?
nice dress. Sput do spanx really work? I would be very sausagey in it but am quite sausagey in a lot of things
ds did a whole hour by himself today. Tomorrow upping to 2 hours and Fri the whole morning. So far no tears....... Possibly because they just seem to bribe them with food , crisps to celebrate someone's birthday yesterday and chocolate cake today. He never gets crisps at home so all he could tell his Dad last night about school was that he ate crisps. This morning he said mamma- want scuola, altri bambini e crisps (in his strange mix of languages)

gio71 · 16/09/2009 14:54

oh and good luck on Fri with dds school Pippi

Camomilla · 16/09/2009 15:10

aaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhh, can't fill in these last 2 boxes, trying to spin it and turn it, but nothing! maybe it's just not meant to be...

gio, your DS sounds like my DS!

I got a pair of spanx after DS.. they do the job, if you manage to get them on (they're 2-3 sizes too big now and it'd still take me half an hour to get them on!), and you have to make sure you won't need the loo before you can take them off!

back to my spinning....

McCloudsextoy · 16/09/2009 15:12

lol at your ds gio71!

yep, might try that dress too, goodness we will be the 3 nuns of london.

good luck for tomorrow pippi, it is so exciting the first day for them..and for us...

managed a bit of w&p at nap time then fell into deep sleep. lovely!

McCloudsextoy · 16/09/2009 15:13

surely as a good civil servatn you should be able to spin!

Camomilla · 16/09/2009 15:14

pippi, DS's old school was big too, but children, parents and teachers really happy and nice, though not great on paper (albeit improving fast according to ofstead). otoh, small cath school was very un-friendly and cold, full of terrorised children and heard not nice comments by parents - ofsted "outstanding", so you might be surprised... you can still keep her on the waiting list of your other choices just in case as well.

Camomilla · 16/09/2009 15:17

McC, you'd think, woudn't you

really, must go back to it...

minervaitalica · 16/09/2009 15:57

BTW, I do not have DCs at school at the moment, but I would be careful with anything written by Ofsted... I used to work at the DfES (when it was called that), and what they do is so much a tickbox exercise that I would rather go with my personal gut feeling than believing them...

Third day of rain in Udine too, by the way... I have gone for the full British attitude of defiance and I am still wearing my M&S flipflops...

Sputnik · 16/09/2009 16:20

Gio re food bribery, I think you have to bow to their experience in this matter, it's working after all!

Never tried the spanx pants but that slip thing works if not at making you look thinner at least at smoothing out lumps IYSWIM.

gio71 · 16/09/2009 16:44

if food bribery means I dont have tears then that is fine with me. He is truly his Mother's son . Am anyones for food
lol at Minerva in flipflops in the rain
Yummy mummy numero 2 today- again ridiculously tall, professionally blowdried hair, fantastic tan and tight black designer jeans with those gappy thighs that only the truly thin have.

Camomilla · 16/09/2009 17:19

stil spinning, still spinning, might have done one spin, but a really hard one left. better get on mn and forget about it for a bit

that slip thing looks far better than the ciclisti I have... they should make them with in-built boobs for the pancake-dotate...

minerva, spooky! I started at the job centre, then most of friends/colleagues went on to DfES a part from me!

francagoestohollywood · 16/09/2009 18:56

lol at spinning!

Gio your ds made me . Bless. And lol at food bribery, don't post it on mn!

Ds's school in the UK was "good" according to OFSTED. I thought the school was lovely. I wouldn't be worried about size, as long as the single classes aren't huge. At the end of the day, the teacher and the school ethos are what counts, imho. What I mean Pippi is: don't worry yet and be open minded... Bah, what the hell am I talking about??? I know how emotional it is to "let go" when schools are concerned!

SuiGeneris · 16/09/2009 19:52

LoL at scarpe di bresaola- and at the same time I have realised I have clearly left Italy too long ago: it took me a few pages to remember what tecnocasa it (I initially thought it must be a furniture manufacturer like Aiazzone of old).

Mystic Masseuse: Wouldn't an MA in Counselling look a bit odd on your CV if you were to try to go back to your original career at a later stage? Having said that, it sounds very interesting, and we have a Swiss friend (lawyer) who decided to become a Jungian counsellor/psychologist (not sure which) and now has a very successful practice in Lausanne, as well as being very satisfied from a personal point of view.

Did like your vestito da suora- but nothing of the sort for me this year- only tents... If anyone has good suggestions for smart but not too expensive maternity clothes, please let me know. I have found expensive smart ones or horrible cheap ones and nothing in between (well, Prenatal in Italy had some nice ones, but did not feel like buying winter clothes at 30 degrees)...

francagoestohollywood · 16/09/2009 19:57

Have you checked Zara's maternity range Sui?

Masseuse, how did the chat go today, would you be able to do the ma?
