So is it ok to talk about our families?

Strange topic I know as this is obviously what we do on mumsnet a lot of the time.

I noticed that in all the discussions about "old" and "new" mumsnetters, several people said that they used to feel that they knew people better and discuss families by name etc.

I am relatively new here (a couple of months) and I just assumed that it was not done for whatever reason (privacy, stalkers etc?!) Am I wrong? I would love to know more about people eg names and ages of family, partners etc, where you live, what your partners do.

Basically I am just really nosey! If it's not the done thing then sorry for sticking my beak in and just ignore this thread.

Happy birthday for tomorrow Mammya!

nettie · 06/05/2003 21:36

One more for the list.

I'm 30, married, 2 DS's 5 years and 15 months.

Live in Sunny Sheffield.

Love ER, Ice Hockey and cheese!

This sounds a big like a personal ad!!!!

Perfectly happy with DH though, unless George Clooney is readin this!

Mum2Toby · 06/05/2003 21:40

Nettie - Do you like Brad Pitt. He's in the YURT at the moment massaging us.

Lindy · 06/05/2003 21:58

Edgarcat - do we share a birthday then (9th May) as well as views on feeding babies!

nettie · 06/05/2003 22:00

Mum2toby, not bothered about Brad Pitt, but give us a shout if George pops in!

Claireandrich · 06/05/2003 22:08

Hi Nettie. From Sheffield too. Did you know that some of us are planning a meet-up soon? If you think you might be intertesed have a look under Meet-ups: Yorkshire Scultpure Park.

Don't know if anyone is intrested but thought I'd add a link to DD's home page - has some photos.

Lambchops · 06/05/2003 22:22

Another Scot from Edinburgh. By the way, did the Scottish meet up ever take place?
I am married, DD 8, DS 6, me 42, DH 52.

WedgiesMum · 06/05/2003 22:27

Edgarcat and Lindy are you trying to stalk my DS - he is 4 on Thursday. But if you promise not to pick too many fights you can come to the party on Saturday (no nettle wine but lots of chocolate....). And bring the family. We've got 32 children coming so a few more won't do much harm...

I'm 37, DH 36 DD nearly 2. I'm an admin team leader at a University part time. One cat, one mouse (spelt R A T) and squirrels in the attic....

Linnet · 06/05/2003 22:32

I'm 26 DH will be 30 in June. DD is 5 and a half and we have been married for a year next week. And we live in Scotland
